Saona or Catolina building are both positoned by the main pool so either looks fine to me.

We did the dolphin encounter, jeep safari, and freestyle catamaran....all fabulous, and would recommend them all!!!

Thanks drama queen, you will enjoy it, the beaches are very different than cuba

but lovely all the same.

Psstt we are going back to cuba for my sisters wedding in 12 months...

Sounds great Jopey... only 10 weeks now! Lol, I'm not sure if we're following eachother next year, mum and I are looking into Barbados or Aruba for the big graduation year!

But we love cuba so much that we'll end up spending the big holiday there... and I'm guessing it'd be the Sol Cayo Guillermo again! :lol:

where are you going in cuba next year?

Can't wait for dom rep though! I've just had to stop myself from packing!

Back to melia cayo guillermo next year, but we are looking at eygpt for october time....dont you just love holidays!!

Would you say any of the safari trips are suitable for kids, mine will be 8 and almost 3. Did you do the dolphin encounter or swim ? NO t sure which is best for kiddie winks.

Hi carebare,

i would not recommend the safari trips for your little ones......we had no children on our jeep, i know there where some on other, buts its kind of a bumpy ride, they would get thrown alot, and my opinion is they may get bored, its an all dayer we were tired at the end of it!!!

The dolphins.....we did the encounter, which i would highly recmmend you seem to get more touch time with the dolphin than in the swim.....but that looked great too.

a bit confused!

Hi, we are going to the gran ventana, to save me trawling through all the posts can someone give me some advice, we are travelling with 2 kids. which is the best block to stay in? we want some sleep as one kid will only be 3, and we dont want to be too far away from restaurants etc , and preferably have a room overlooking the pool. but sleep is the most important thing :lol:

for us stressed out parents.

I've not been yet...

I'm going on the 12th June with my mum... and although we're up for a laugh, we're not all night party-ers.

People have, ironically, said that the quiet block is the noisy one, because since the hotel was built, a night club was built right next to the building (the club is not part of the complex) and there is some noise, so you need to avoid beata. The Saona and Catilina (I think thats how they're written) should be requested, and if you say that you have young kids, they should accomodate you, or try their best. I posted the email address before in this thread... you email them to request the room, I got a reply 24 hours later. I'll try to dig it out... there is also a URL for resort maps... I'll see if I can find them, but they are on this thread about 1 or 2 pages back.

How far in advance could you email the hotel, to put requests in, as I am not going till July, is it still too early. As I am travelling with 2 children, I do not want to be in a room that has a lot of noise in the night.

I emailled them about 2 weeks ago, so that was 6 weeks before we go... so I'd imagine you could send one now, then a reminder, say 1 week or 2 weeks before you go... it'd be extremly important as you have a 3 year old (or kids in the case of Mishie) and you should get priority. People have reccomended 3 weeks before departure, but they aknowledged and are addresing my request.
