If you go to justzante on the net and scroll down you will see all the reviews, hundreds of them, the kalamaki site is the best. The hotel we always stay is not so close to the beach. Enjoy looking and you can ask any questions and you will get lots of good advice. Hope this helps and you will love Zante for sure.

Hi, 14 of us went to Argassi on a family holiday. Ages ranged from 6 to 65 and we all had a great time. The resort was lively without being "over the top". We did visit the beach but it was not one of the best I've been to. If you've set your heart on Zante You won't be disapointed with Argassi.

Hello Maisie713 had two holidays in Zakynthos which have both been great but the first time in Argassi was long before it was built up and really loved the place, the beach was nothing special rather poor really but places on the Island were easy reachable by bus or taxi, If the Asterior (The Stars) restaurant near to the BP petrol station is still open had the most wonderful meals in there and the staff were also very good returned 4 years later and they recognised us, Our favorite now is Kefalonia paid them many visits will be returning in just over 2 week for the secong time this year, but yes did enjoy Zante late 80's and early 90's
Hope you enjoy it if you go.

been going to Greece now for about twenty five years. Never been back to the same resort twice. Just love the Greeks, the food the atmosphere and the sheer giddy anticipation of what we will find next.

this sounds like a description of us! We have had around 40 Greek holidays and although we have returned to the same areas we always find new locations. This year we were based in Tolon but decided to spend a few days in Monemvasia, what an amazing place, like nowhere else in Greece. We also added another island to the list, Elafonisos. This has the best beaches we have ever seen. The sand is very fine, white/pink and they are backed by dunes, equal to any we have seen anywhere. Very few, if any, Brits on this island. Its only a short ferry crossing but we took the car. This is the most southerly part of the mainland, if you're in the region dont miss it. Greece never fails to amaze us.

went to Elafonisi couple of years ago whilst staying in Paleochora but had to get there early. the walk and views were like walking on water.
Can recommend Paleochora for a stay and for seeing the surrounding area by car.

There is definately some confusion here! I am talking about the island off the southern Peloponnese while you are in Crete!! I know exactly what you mean about getting there early, its a great place but the huge number of day trippers tend to spoil it. We also enjoyed Paleochora and the less developed Plakias also on the south coast, roll on next season.

rdv looks like I'm getting confused in my old age. Been to Peloponese a few times but never ventured to Elofonisi....sounds like I should go.

I Know what you mean, with so many Greek places having the same names (psilli ammos is a favourite) confusion is guaranteed. Do not miss Monemvasia and Elafonisos, although we stayed in this area it would be possible to see either as a day trip from Stoupa.

We allways went to Spain or Majorca but two years ago we had to come back a week early as my stepson had died so we got a refund from the insurance and my husbands docter said that we should get away as there was quite a few issues going on and my husband was finding it very hard trying to please everyone. So I looked on the internet and found a late deal to Evia Island. This was so diffrent from what we were used to it was a small hotel we allways went to big hotels there was no entertainment we allways booked where there was things going on all day. But what we found was that it was such a sociable holiday we spoke to more people than we had ever done before and my husband who had never wanted to go to Greece loved the people it was just what he needed So last year we went to Rhodes again a very small hotel but again we met so many more people than you ever would in a big hotel and the greeks make you so welcome nothing is to much bother so now we are hooked. Going to Kos this year.

Ive been to a few Greek islands, the beach at Tsilivi in Zante in my opinion is poor. Like Pojo, my favourite is Kafelonia, the beach in Lassi is superb, i could not believe the difference from Zante to say they are so close.

I see that the Guardian/ Observer Travel Awards competition starts today. It will be strange without dear old Laskarina winning as usual!
I'm off to have go on the Guardian.co.uk travel page. Might get next year's holiday free.

You might, but dont hold your breath! Laskarina have been kind enough to post details of direct booking contacts they have used in the past on their website.
Whats going on with Tapestry? The ex directors appeared to have taken it over as Exclusive Escapes but recently we received a card informing us that 'Tapestry Holidays has been purchased by Travelzest'
Reply
They have rewritten their website but most enquiries seem to have been redirected to PureCrete.com, Is this the Directors' new company name?
They always had a good reputation.
Reply
Totally confused now. The Exclusive Escapes website looks just like the old Tapestry site and this was set up by ex Tapestry directors and staff. Not easy to work out whats happening here, perhaps Travelzest own all these companies, must be some agents out there who know.

I am lucky enough to be going to Greece twice this year..Cyprus in 2 weeks time and then Crete in June but have noticed that the Greek islands don't seem to be the bargain they used to be a few years back or is it that my tastes have changed?! I am a great user of the internet and am happy to DIY but I was finding that some package deals were cheaper this time round, accomodation was cheap but the flights were expensive... :( but not enough to stop us going....Crete will be a new island for both myself and hubby....this will be Cyprus visit no 4 for me, been to Ayia Napa, Limassol and Paphos and back to Paphos this time round. Also been to Santorini, stayed in Kamari, been to Rhodes, twice, stayed in Rhodes Town, been to Kos twice, stayed in Kos Town and visited Nissyros on a day trip.....still have quite a few islands I'd like to see, :) Corfu, Kefalonia, Mykonos and Parga looks very pretty on the mainland.
