my daughters school is now having laptops instead of books for learning, and i have paid for one of these little asus eee laptops, and her teacher said once they come they are yours forever, they don't have to stay in school.. so she asked me today if she could take it on the plane when we go to Cyprus in july/august/September obviously not using internet but for games ect.

No problem, she can carry it in her hand luggage bag. Depending on which airport she is travelling from she may be allowed to carry another small handbag as well as the laptopbag. She will be allowed to use the laptop during the flight (though not during landing and takeoff).

You will have to make sure the wireless networking feature is disabled if you want to use the laptop during the flight. Personally, I don't see the point in taking a bulky laptop away with you just to use for games etc. A handheld games console is smaller and lighter. And unless your hotel has free wi-fi then you won't be able to use the laptop for internet while you're away either.

She may not have a games console, and the Asus eee laptop is very small. The poster said she didn't want to use the internet so the question of whether the hotel has free wi-fi is immaterial.

I am flying to Aus next month, and taking my ipod and psp, I have a portable battery powered charger for my ipod and 2 spare batteries for my psp. Are these allowed?

hi all, flying out on an Onur air flight next month and as you know there is no food onboard anymore. But what I would like to know is are you ok to take sandwiches on board with meat on them, I am flying to Turkey if this makes a difference. Thanks

Yes, the hand luggage restrictions outlined on page 1 of this topic are still valid. The only minor change (covered in later pages) is that some airlines and airports now allow two pieces of hand luggage, whilst others still only allow one.

This might sound like an odd question, but is it ok to take medication in the form of tablets/patches on the plane? My boyfriend and I are going to Majorca in 3 weeks. He has chronic pains and takes well over 20 tablets a day, so we'll need to keep quite a few pills in our hand luggage and take a few strips with us in our hold-luggage for 10days. He also may be introduced to morphine patches before we leave. Is it ok to take all of these drugs with us to Majorca? (we don't want to be caught up in anything that might seem suspicious!)

I would not have thought it at all unreasonable to take your drugs with you - take what you need for the flight period in handbaggage (plus an extra day's worth) and the rest in your hold baggage.

Make sure that the medicines are clearly labelled by the issuing pharmacy in your boyfriend's name on an official label (with their name and address on it) and take a photocopy of the prescription before you get it filled to take with you on the flight. (Or ask the pharmacy to photocopy it when it has been filled with their official stamp on it to take with you.)

You should also take a doctor's letter confirming that he has been prescribed these medicines and for what reason.

Now, although you are talking about tablets and patches, I'd just like to remind you and other posters that although the LIMIT for LIQUIDS in handbaggage is 100 ml, medicines in liquid form can be taken in hand baggage up to 500 ml, but it/they must be officially labelled, have a copy of the prescription and a doctor's letter just in case someone in security has not been adequately briefed............

Careful wrapping in bubble wrap and towels can make liquids quite travel-friendly in hold baggage though ..............
