The ice cream is supposed to be 10 till 6 but is actually available till midnight in The Tavern bar.They never seemed to have all of the flavours though and were always waiting for a delivery

Not sure about which wines and spirits are on AI as i only drank Beer, Pop or Coffee.

Its a bit of a strange one with the beer though as when we stayed here in 2006 they had Sagres, Super Bock and Fosters on draught and i always just had Sagres with it being the local brew.

Now they are All Inclusive the only beer they sell on draught and which is available top AI guests is San Miguel which is obviously Spanish

They no longer sell any local beer except in cans from the on site supermarket.

Thanks for the replies.

Another question, we probably wont eat in the restaurant at lunch time. Can you tell me what the snacks are like, is it only burgers or can you get other snacks as well.

We had snacks a couple of times from the snack bar at the Splash Area Pool.

Not a big selection it must be said, but there were ham sarnies, cheese sarnies, cheese and tomato pizza slices, veggie pizza slices, chips, hot dogs, burgers that i can remember. Pizza slices were nice, was what i had most of from the snack bar.

We went in and had our lunch from the buffet most days when we stayed in the hotel, not brilliant by any stretch of the imagination but a bit better than the snack bar.

I've just had the same response email from First Choice as xor37h (who posted earlier today). Be interesting to see the comments from people who are coming back from the resort soon. Will keep a watchful eye over these pages in the coming weeks. Hope you have a fab holiday Paulajane

Paulajane, I also like reading the reviews but cringe now everytime I'm on Tripadvisor review site as this hotel has slipped from no:5 (when I made my reservation) to no:41 (now) in the popularity index :really

Im sure it will be fine now, im so exited about going, i think even if the problems were still there a holiday is what you make it and if you let the things bother you you will have a rubbish time so im trying to think positive ha ha fingers crossed!! I really dont want to come back and put a negative review on here! When do you go michandjack?

We don't go until October Paulajane. I think you're right, a holiday is what you make it. The complex and facilities look amazing - that's why we booked - and I'm sure when the food's sorted out it will be a fab place to stay. Just hope we get a nice summer here so I can do some of this :sun2

After reading the reply from first choice I feel much more optimistic about going, the last few months have been filled with dread, now we can put that behind us and look forward to having a great time! we are off on 12th july

Have fun, all of you that are off soon.

I e-mailed the hotel again asking for confirmation that the sittings had been scraped and had an e-mail back confirming this, I just wanted to make sure I had a hard copy confirming

and thanks for sharing a copy of the e-mail, that is also great news ....

The general review from a few different forums is that the hotel and facilities are amazing so I am really looking forward to going there, we are of in September :sun2

Could any of you going soon to HV,take some photos and post them when you get back please.I am not going untill aug14 and my 6year old wont leave me alone untill she sees some photos of the new splash park and kids den :duh

If you go onto Trip Advisor and type in Alto da Colina Aparthotel the first review has pics attached of the new splash park it looks great!!

I think the reason is that the Portuguese suppliers are not reliable, whereas San Miguel give top notch service. We stock it in our pub for that very reason. If you have a run on the draught beer, they will deliver the same day if necessary, the Portuguese companies can somtimes take a couple of days. No good if you are running an AI (booo... ;)) resort and you are suddenly invaded by beer monsters...
