I dont think nigel tansley has done a review yet, he was there the same time as us, he and his family were lovely. They did have a problem with the AI finishing at lunchtime on the day they went home, apparently last year you kept it until you left the hotel, we just gave them one of our cards to use, otherwise the prices were very over inflated
I cant really comment as to wether they enjoyed it as much, nigel did say the food seemed better, but some areas were not as good.
outside cleanliness was ok when we were there, not brilliant, but ok, the room cleanliness was not so good, but i work for the nhs, and i see terrible situations, so a less than excellent room is not such a big deal to me, the pool is excellant, just wear water shoes,
using the buses was a laugh, and sometimes a squeeze, just use a taxi if there full,
the beach club is ok, didnt spend much time there.
Noisy kids were a problem at night, just ring reception and report what floor there on, this didnt always stop the noise though.
Try looking back to find a post from Nigel and pm him, not sure if he still comes on the site though its worth a try
last off, my kids adored the place, i have been to better places, but as long as they are happy is all i care about...........

HIya all, 3 weeks tommorow and we're off :fly

How much spending money do you think we'll need. We are all inclusive and don't think we'll really be venturing out of the HV much as hopefully kids will enjoy the clubs.

We're thinking about taking about £500 do you think that'll be enough?

Also, forgot to ask. Do any of you that have been out there already this year have any piccies to include on the galleries? Most of the piccies there are still from last year!

Hi, we took £600 spending money, and spent all of it. But that included several trips and lots of tobacca. My hubby did put a few photos on and dated them may 05, i have never checked to see if they are there though, i am sure you will have a good time,

Hi

This is probably a silly question. Are the fridges in the rooms are big enough to hold some G&T and cans of cider or are they mini-bar sized? After the kids go to bed we like to sit on the veranda with a nightcap.

Also, should I take extra hangers and do we need our own beach towels. I read that you can get them at the poolside but I wondered about what you do if you are going out for the day.

Can you cash travellers cheques at reception. Has anyone used this new American Express travellers' cheque card which you top up before you go? I thought about trying this if it is accepted in most Bureaux. Apparently First Choice are giving you an extra £50 for every £500 you put on it!

We go this Saturday so I will need to decide quickly. Any advice welcomed.

The fridges are fairly big you would pit a lot in them.
The towels you hire them I couldnt see any problem taking them out only is you loose them you loose the deposit. I wouldnt take any towels I think it 25 euro deposit per towel you can get fresh ones twice a day.
I didnt need any hangers last year but have read people saying that they didnt reckon there were enough.
As we are in eurozone (I am Irish) I didnt use travellers cheques so cant answer that one.
They also have an atm machine in the reception.

Thanks Carol

I'll leave the towels at home.

Maybe someone else knows about the Amex Travellers' Cheque card. Do you know if there is a charge for the ATM? I wonder if I should maybe just use this and forget about Travellers' Cheques altogether. Has anyone else done this?

lou, we took travellers cheques and used the atm- which was not always working. They mended it pretty quickly, but reception changed the travellers cheques no problem. We als used an atm in fuengerola (sp?) there are lots about and i have not been charged for using them by my bank-barclays. hope this helps

Hi Reception charge a commission for exchanging mney or travellers cheques 3%. I was charged by my bank for using ATMs 1.50 for each transaction but didn't know till i got home!

Did you get free child places for july 2006,,,, i was going to book again for next year but couldn't get any free child places,,,, there is 2 adults a nd 4 kids although 2 of them are 14 so they get classed as adults but still no freebies and it was going to cost over 5500 grand!!!!!!!! bit steep i thought considering for the holiday this year for 4 was only 2200,,,, anyone ant tips on getting it cheaper a lot cheaper!!!!!

Thanks

The child age this year is 14, has it changed for 2006? I would querie that as the 14 year olds should be classed as children i think.
I checked my bank ststement when i got home and i was not charged for using the atm, i was surprised as i expected a charge
Carol, at last you have booked it, will you request your old room? We are trying there new hotel in Kos, AI with waterslides, which building work has not started yet

Hi Karen

I have a copy of the FC Holiday Villages Brochure for April - October 2006. The Costa del Sol HV is AI for children up to age 14, but the others seem to cut off at age 12.

Hope this helps.

thanks lou, i have just checked the same brochure and mine says child age 2-14 years on AI.
ladybus, i would querie that if i were you.............think they may have over charged you, unless it was cheaper to put them through as adults to reduce the under occ supplements

No I didnt get a free child place.
It was a lot dearer than last year but we wanted to go so just went with it.
I wanted to try a differant HV but other half and 4 year old son insisted on same place.

Hi Carol

It's great to see people re-booking the HV. Certainly puts my mind at rest; keep up the good work! "Four more sleeps" is the war cry in our house at the moment. I started packing today - can't wait.

Thanks for the morale boosting posts.

Hiya all, gettin excited now! only 18 sleeps to go! We've been out buying clothes etc and I need to start packing cause I've forgot what we've got and what else we need to still get!!!

I have just got a quick question - I've noticed that the HV has a laundry room, if you use it do you have to wait yourself for your washing or is there a service wash facility? Just wondering cause kids'll get mucky and will need to wash a few things!

Any advice will be gratefully received!!!!!

See ya all
