I really can't stress enough how much you need to take the bad reviews with a pinch of salt! I arrived here yesterday and it's fantastic! We go away for 2 weeks AI every year in Europe, usually Spain and this is by far the best hotel yet!

The food is great as is the service in the restaurant. The snack menu is great, a real range rather than the normal chips or burger!

Rooms are amazing, and the air con is very effective, it's roasting over here at the mo but actually woke up cold and had to turn the air con down!

Anway... gotta go enjoy my hols but thought I'd let you know how good it really is!

Hi all,

I've booked a week with my wife and young lad in the Holiday Palace. Apologies if this has already been asked - I didn't read through all of the messages  - but is the Holiday Palace in the same complex as the Holiday Village? It's called the Sirenis Holiday Palace on my booking confirmation.

We're going self catering, we stayed in Benalmadena last year for 2 weeks so we know the area pretty well now. We're also going to hire a car, probably for the full week.

I've 2 questions:
- Is there a decent car park at the Holiday Palace i.e. plenty of spaces?
- I think there's a charge for using the indoor pool, and possibly some of the other stuff. Anyone got any idea of how much these things are?

Thanks,
Paul.

We have booked this complex for June 06'.
Can anyone suggest where the best rooms are on the complex?
Like everyone, we always try to go for a room with a nice view that is not necessarily overlooking the 'noisiest' areas.
Going on my own personal experiences, the best people to ask are the people who have been there already.
Any pointers would be much appreciated.

The palace and holiday village are 2 seperate hotels, but i think the palace guests can acsess the holiday village and beach club.
In the HV are room was 559 and friends were in 560, overlooking the mini golf with sea view, it was a quiet room on the 5th floor, and was nice and peacefull.

I stayed at the Holiday Palace last year. The security gate from the main road allows access to the complex where HV and HP are built (more hotels are to follow). HV is at the bottom of the hill and HP at the top - takes about 10 minutes to walk up depending on how fit you are!! it is a steep hill

Guests at HP can also use the beach club - you need your room key to get access (its a credit card type key).

We hired a car for the duration of our holiday last year and never had any trouble parking outside HP. There is a charge for the indoor pool - didnt really see anyone using it - dont remember how much it was. Reception will give you a list of the charges for tennis, football, mini golf etc. Last year the HP was much quieter than HV with very little going on in the evenings.

We are previous visitors to HV and are going back next year - cant wait.

We have some friends who are going self catering to the HP next week and they asked us where the best places to eat are - any suggestions? We were AI last year so couldnt really give any advice.

Reading the reviews of the HP it sounds as if the evening entertainment is not as good as the HV - Can HP guests visit HV on an evening? They have a little girl who im sure would love the mini disco - not so sure about them but as long as she is happy im sure they will be!

I know there was talk on this site when we went last year about upgrading to AI, I cant see this mentioned lately so i presume it is no longer available - can anyone confirm?
Reply
Hi, yes you can upgrade at the HV now to AI.
I did put some prices on somewhere, but not sure which page. We went in June so it cant be to far back.
I think the HP guests can use the entertainment, pools etc of the HV.

12 sleeps to go!!!!!!!!!! :D

Just checked out the weather, its gonna reach 38 degrees by sunday. God that's hot!!!

Advice needed - someone has told me that you can buy a total sunblock stick (like a lipstick). I've recently had major knee surgery and my scar is still very sensitive. Been advised to buy this 'stick' for my scar but can't find it!

Does anyone know where I may be able to get it from? I've tried Boots and Superdrug etc but can only find lip ones!!!

Also, is the suncream expensive in the HV shop? We've bought loads but worried about running out!!!

Cheers, Em xxx

I was at the Holiday Village in June and my friend is there now - it is 38 today!

Sun Cream is really expensive over there about 17 euros for a spanish brand but it changes every other day!

PS Total Sun Block try Roc - our local pharmacy stocks it - really good for covering up! :gluck

Livy is right, suncream was so expensive when we were there in June, do you have a "savers" near you, they do a stick, as do avon( order of the website)
We took one from avon and it was fantastic for tops of feet and shoulders etc
Our local boots sell one, and the little chemist, it will be a case of looking around for one, i definatly recomend them

Cool, thanks all. I'll carry on looking around, while I'm looking, i might get some more sun cream as well as its cheaper here!!!

There is a wonderful restaurant in Fuengirola called Aroma :D

Can HP guests visit HV on an evening?

We just walked in there last year, dont know if you are supposed to but once you are inside the "complex" no one challenges you.

hiya, 38 wow thats nice and hot! would just like to say though that when were there last august temps were similar but there was always a lovely cooling see breeze throughout the complex, especially at the beach club, anyone going soon have fab hols, we loved it and next week we are off to holiday village pegasos in turkey! hope its as good.

Glad that theres a sea breeze. We are going in 12 days (an counting!) I burn very very easily and the only thing i'm not looking forward to is the heat. However, i think its different when you're on hols, not having to work and do the housework, wear next to nothing and can have a dip in the pool if you get too hot. OR, maybe visit one of the indoor bars!

I'm busy ironing our holiday clothes at the moment. Don't wanna leave it all to the last minuite! for once i'm trying to be organised!!!!

Don't want to put a dampner on anyone's holiday - but my friend is out there at the moment - and there was a really bad incident with a child in the pool yesterday- no arm bands. She told me that the child was taken away to hospital so please take extra care with your children!
