hi ya, vicky what age is your boys? my son is 7yrs old and we are there the same time as you.
Was told by a local that we should change our money when we are in turkey( better rate) anybody just back that could confirm this?
So the 8yr old should be in the club with your son.
Have you just the one.
Im only taking a small amount of lira incase they fancy teh choc party or anything, in the amrket etc they took £sterling and prefered it.
Have you been before?
yeh vicky we were ther the 1st year it opened! our son joshua is just about 8 so not sure if he will be in the same club? is it not aged 6-8?
I have requested the palace side and im really hoping i get it, much prefered it to tropical.
Our friends fly out a week before us so im hoping she can find out for us !
When and where are you flying from? we are Manchester on 1st aug ....... wish i was going from LBA thou its closer lol
hi vicky, we fly out from glasgow on the 27th of july, we have not requested any side, why do u prefer the palace side?
My hubbie actually didnt want to book incase we got tropical , he really wasnt keen on it but weve taken our chances.............what side were you on last time?
what time is your flights in? we have afternoon flight.
We dont land til 10pm ish so our friends will be waiting for us in reception with a nice cold drink!!!!!!
They cant g'tee palace but im hoping we get it !!!!
There seems to be a difference of opinion about which side is the best so i havnt requested a side.... but really i'd like the side that they dont put the big groups in as there is only 4 of us
Personally the main pool at the palace is my main reason plus the day we went to the tropical i didnt like they layout of the lunchtime snack bar etc, cant say i went to the normal restaurant or anywhere else in the tropical thou to compare it.
Do they tend to put big groups on a certain side then?
To be honest unless these big groups are all on one booking they wouldnt even knnow they were a group, last time we went there was 11 of us but all 3 bookings seperate so they wouldnt have know we were a group and some travelled slightly different days but we went at the time when you actually booked a specific side.
Personally i think it still should be like that, when we went the palace was slighty more expensive and we paid the extra to be on that side.
Just something i heard on here about big groups being put on a certain side.... probably just heasay though.Ive never been before so really going with an open mind to either side
How old are your kids and when are you going?
Vicky,we fly out from gatwick on the 6th of august. My boys are 13 and 10.I think we are going to buy a set of walkie talkies so that we arnt constantly worrying where they are
Although in saying that i guess the main places he will be is the pool with us or the kids club as there are no play areas onsite but i might still pack them anyway!
Our maim worry is at night vicky cos mine are that bit older they go off on their own and sometimes it goes an hour or two and we havnt seen them and i start to panic... course they are only somewhere with the friends that they have made but they still get my heart racing
just read the latest review and the family there used an adult only bar/area which may come in handy for us as hopefully my son will be at the wavelengh club in the evening. does anybody else have any info because this is the first time i have seen it mentioned. we did use the adult only bar quite a lot at the hv egypt as our son really loves the wavelengh.
Food is fantastic - loads of salads, fresh fish, fruit, yum yum yum. It was all prepared on site and prety much in front of you. Even the tuna was cut into steaks and griddled while you watched. Turkish night was my fave it really was great.
Kids loved the range of pools, something for all ages. My daughter who is 4 did the swim kids and enjoyed it. She had both group (paid for in the UK) and private lessons. She is at a mid-level so was too advanced for the beginner class but not quite ready for the next level which is why we let her have some lessons on her own.
Kids club was a hit with the kids but not so much with the adults; although it gave us a lovely couple of hours peace in the sun, they came back having learnt words like 'fartypants' and songs which Im not quite sure were totally appropriate. Thinking about it the major downside of the entertainment was the toilet humour, to me its just not funny.
Had 3 great trips with Sarigerme tours - they were a lovely bunch of people and I cannot reccommend them highly enough. Book in the UK as I did and it works out really really cheap. The Turkish bath was hilarious (though Im not sure it was meant to be!) and the 12 island tour was awsome.
The grounds of the hotel are stunning and the walk to the beach beautiful. The sand is hot but the tan you catch during a walk along the sea is totally worth it! We did some watersports and the people running it were great.
All in all a fantastic holiday. If the entertainments team just bucked up a bit it would win over spain. If you are going here soon - can I come?!! x
can anybody tell me where i can get a recent overhead photo of the hv turkey
to get a better idea of the layout and size of pools. tried google earth but it just shows it under construction. thanks
happy hols

ps great to hear you had a nice holiday emmievic
hi john think the review you read was from me we used the adult only bar most nights its on the tropical side near the beach so dont know if alot of people staying on the palace side knew about it its a really nice bar to sit at and relax for a couple of hours with no kids about lol they have leather sofa type seats so its more comfortable and candles on the tables.
that sounds fab, we sat in the adults only bar quite a few nights when we were at the hv egypt last year.
happy hols
john
