just a tip to anyone going, they sell dvd copies on both sides of the hotel, some of them play ok but most are terrible copies so i would'nt bother if i were you! not that they should be allowed to sell them anyway and we should'nt buy them!!!
Got friends there at the minute, just texted to say that they've got the lurgy, several trips to the loo every day with stomach cramps. No diagnosis as yet but will keep you all posted. Apparently others have it too.
Im not surprised ,they probably all got heatstroke, have you seen the temperature reports over the last few days, probably all the beer they are drinking to keep cool. Joking aside, going soon hope no bug going round.
I was one of the "pioneers" to this place in the summer of 2005. I caught the lurgy along with countless others. The treatment in the on site health centre was very good, was on a drip at 9 in the morning and spent most of the day in there. Although delicate for a couple of days after I did recover. The "illness" was diagnosed as a "travel" bug which I'd never heard of, however on my return my own GP said it was most likely to have been a bug picked up in the restaurant or the pool.
Barnio your experience must have been horrible but i was there the year after in 2006 and all was fine. Every year this place gets a raw deal with people having tummy bugs etc and i think the previous post was right for some people a lot of it will be down to too much sun and excess alcohol and cant all be blamed on the hotels food/pools.
Diagnosis on my friends? Well its a travel bug of course! What else could it have been! They are getting better and it wont spoil the rest of their holiday but there are regular cases of people coming down with it. Typical of us Brits eh, catching travel bugs. Funny, never had one when travelling to Spain, France, Ireland, Greece, The States, Australia or even when I went to Brasil!!
My friends had bad tummy bugs in gran canaria last year, and we were SC all eating at same places everynight and the rest of us didnt come down with it.
Same here, we were at a big all-inc in Corfu last year and if you believe the reviews on Trip Advisor from when we were there everybody had gastro enteritis. We didn't see any of it, but we did see loads of people come straight off the beach and eat without washing their hands etc. people always blame the hotel.
My opinion is that these big complexes are like small towns and if someone brings a bug in its very hard to get rid off and not the hotels fault.This is why when reviews first start coming in everyone says that we shouldnt worry as there isnt a problem with sickness ect but as the summer moves on it starts to get worse.Im going to this resort in august and im not overly worried but it is in the back of my mind especially with swine flu so prevelant in the uk

I think if people observed basic hygene rules these things wouldnt spread so badly and the innocent people (like barnios friends) wouldnt have holidays spolit with upset tummys.
People need to wash hands more often , not let kids put there hands on food they arent taking to eat etc.
I am just hoping we dont catch swine flu before we go ! Thats my biggest worry right now ..... or someone knowing fine well they have it and travelling anyway then passing it round the whole complex , as once that gets in there we will all catch it!
Have these incidents in the pool stopped yet with peoples kids having "accidents" in it then them being closed?

Quite a lot of new reviews on some review sites now.
Mostly all good with the odd few saying about watered down drinks , also a few saying very small choice of drinks on all inclusive but i asked about this a few weeks back on here and was told all the normal choices were still available . No one ever mentions the schnapps but i was partial to that in 2006 , again when i asked on here a few weeks ago i was told i could get it.
One review said as they didnt like beer they never had any alcohol the whole stay............surely there is wine, normal spirit choices available??????????

I only drink wine and their raki so i'll be ok 
hi all, the beer over there is efes which my husband says is just like stella he loves it you can still get schnapps i was drinking the melon one the whole time love that stuff there is also orange and peach schnapps and red and white wine aswell as gin vodka raki brandy whisky plenty of choice and it is not watered down we got a little tipsy a few nights couldnt get too drunk with the kids and all lol
Hi all, cant quite remember does the suites have a iron? and was it confirmed that the hairdresser still does the fancy hair designs for the kids? 4 more sleeps and getting very excited.
I dont rememeber an iron in the suites from when we went hun.

regarding holiday village with first choice we go august 27th do we need to take towels and what trips are there any input would be good thankyou 
Just returned from the palace 2 week stay got upset stomach on last day and we heard of only a couple of people with it. however the hotel removered all the water despensers and replaced with free bottle water, if there is a link to it they knew all about it before people got ill, also there is a problem with bees around the bars during daytime even the staff got stung. but we still had a great holiday
Good point Zippy re- water bottles. When I was there I saw the bar staff filling a water bottle which was meant for the dispenser from a tap. Told the FC rep about it and she said she would sort it out. Never let my kids get water from them again after that.
