Apologies if this has been asked before but can you use sterling in the games arcade?. Also, just checked the temperatures out there at the moment and its HOT and looks to be getting hotter. My kids are both very fair skinned and I'm a bit worried about them being out all day - I know its generally a problem getting a bed with an umbrella at most large hotels unless you get up at 6!!! - I'm sure I've heard somewhere that there is some shade at one of the pool areas - is this near the slide pools as I'm sure that's were the kids will want to be. Should I bring an umbrella with me?

There are permanent big "sail" type canopies around the main pool but only free standing umbrellas around the flume pool. We are taking our own brolly (Next £5.50) as we mainly sat around the flume pool last year.

And yes, you can use sterling in the games arcade - in fact you get a better deal if you use sterling everywhere in the hotel!

My tickets arrived today so can now get officially excited

Can somebody help me please??? There is a recent hotel review for the PP where they say they have a minor complaint about the "Tom Tom Watch". First Choice put the first 50 lira on it but it wasn't part of the All Inclusive.........what in the hell does that mean??????
If anybody out there who has been before can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Regards, confused :hmmm

Re the Tom Watch
When you check in you are given a "tom watch" which has 50 lire on it. It s called a tom watch/bracelet because its in the shape of watch but all it is a hotel credit card which you use to purchase things in the hotel what are not included in the AI eg named brand drinks. If you use any of the 50 lire which is on the tom you have to pay for it at the end of your holiday. If you use more than 50 lire you can top your watch up any time. If you loose/break your watch there is a £15 charge. A minimum of £25 must be credited to it before you can use it. Ours went straight into the safe and never came out.

Thank you Laudan. It's little things like this which are really helpful. Is there nothing tempting other than branded drinks?
Thanks again :bow

Im sure you can use it all around the complex but we prefered just to use money. We had a turkish bath, played ten pin bowling, the kids played pool and on the arcade games and did high ropes, we bought pop corn and candy floss and purchased bits and pieces from the shops(mozzie spray) all that had to be paid for. Im sure I read before than you are given a receipt for every transaction but for us money was just easier.

Hi,

Just arrived back this morning to a flooded house!.

Its toasting out there, 100+ and rising.

Tip: If you leave your sunbed don't forget your flip flops or you'll never make it across the tiles!!!!

Any questions just ask, I'll do my best to answer.

congratulations.

when we went 2 weeks ago there were loads of very young babies & lots of bumps. i've not noticed so many pregnant women on a holiday before so you will fit in fine.

Anyone know how long it would take to drive to Marmaris from this resort. I'm going in September this year and would like to meet up with someone who will be in Marmaris at the same time.
Thanks in advance

Congratulations Leanne. I'm sure you will be absolutely fine.

Just remember to avoid the normal foods which you shouldn't eat whilst pregnant, check all food, especially meat, to ensure it is cooked thoroughly, drink plenty of bottled water to keep well hydrated and also use a higher factor sunscreen than you would usually as pregnant women tend to burn more easily than normal. (can you tell I'm a midwife!)

Also, make sure you are well hydrated (avoid alcohol and caffine) on the flight and walk up and down the aircraft every hour to keep your circulation going to minimise the risk of DVT. I'll get off my soapbox now

I know its been asked before but I am still quite unsure what the best currency to use at this complex is. Is it better to take more sterling and would you suggest taking sterling travellers cheques or does the hotel not exchange for english. This is very confusing. Two weeks to go need to order something. Can anyone help?

Last year we took £50 worth of lira and the rest of our spends in sterling cash. We took either £600 or £700 (can't remember!) for a family of 5 and that was plenty. We exchanged some of our £'s for lira once out there so that we had money for taxi's, tipping and drinks and snacks when off the hotel complex for day trips.

The exchange rate over there is much better if you go into the village to change your money, rather than using hotel reception. It was 7 lira for a taxi into the village (£2.50ish) and there is a post office where you can change money. The tour operator we did our day trips with also changed some money for us at a good rate. The turkish people LOVE sterling so most shops will take it rather than lira.

I'm not sure whether the hotel will change travellers cheques for sterling cash. We took ours as cash and just carried it between us.
