Hi all,

We got back from HV on Monday night. What a fantastic time we all had. Couldn't fault it at all.

When we arrived we were given a free upgrade to select rooms, which looked over the kids bucket pool, so was really handy for toilet trips for the little ones. The only down side was that it was a bit loud at night time as it was very near to the evening entertainment in the ampitheatre but we soon got used to it and fell asleep easily in the huge comfy beds.

Hi jeppo, sorry we missed you although I think I saw you a few times, once in the reception bar and a couple of times in the restaurant but I was too shy to come over. :think Hope you had a good of a time as we all did.

None of us were ill and no one got any mossie bites. We used lifesystems plus mosquito repellant, which is 95% deet and it was great. Would highly recommend it.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Emma

just like to say we all had a great time, at the holiday village, sorry stemma i missed you, i wasn't sure, which party you were with, seemed like a lot of big families together, anyone going soon, just a word of warning, one of our party's luggage was lost, on route, so please split your luggage up, as there is not a lot of clothes to buy out there, i.e. under wear, dresses etc, it's not very nice having a fortnights holiday and no clothes

Do the select rooms have the dvd players ? 3 1/2 weeks to go cant wait :sun2
Im a bit worried about going off the complex, do the locals excessively hassle you
or do they wait until you show interest first before they hassle ?
Glad everyone has had a great time we cant wait :cheers

hi paul h,
they are asking £160 pp, thats what it was last week, dont know what that entailed, but we booked on line with egyptair.com, got a flight for £60 return, booked a guide Nibal, off egyptguest.com, for four of us it was £108, for the day, she met us at Cairo airport, took us round the sights , pyramids etc, in an air conditioned mini bus, we had a fantastic day, worked out at £125 pp, they were talking 22 hr round trip, by coach from holiday village, if you want to know more give me a shout

Select rooms do have dvd players.

Be polite to them and just say 'No thank you'. We found that always worked. The only place we had a problem was in the Old Market. I would strongly recommend avoiding there at all costs. Very pushy and if you don't look they are extremely rude. Even telling my sister he would take her children if she didn't look.
The mini bus dropped us off at 8.30pm and was picking us up at 10.30pm. After half an hour we were ready to come away. It was extremely hot, none of the shops had air conditioning that worked properly and everything was so close together it was almost claustrophobic. It smelt, and unlike Naama Bay, we were definitely the minority. Not nice. There was nothing else there that you couldn't get in Naama Bay.

We enquired about going to Cairo by road and the taxi man in reception said he would do it for £40 each and that included air conditioned private mini bus, entry into Cairo museum, luch and refreshments in Cairo, an English speaking guide but not entry into pyramids. We would leave at 11pm and get to Cairo at about 6am to see the pyramids. Maybe if we didn't have the kids with us we might have done it. Thought it was a good price.

do the select rooms have a bath? or is it just showers?

Ours just had a walk in shower, like a wet room. It had a huge rain shower which was lovely and then a normal shower next to it. You could only use one at a time though.
I took some photos of the room and the shower but I don't know how to upload them. If anyone wants to see them Just pm me with your e-mail address and I'll send them to you.
They really were the best rooms we have ever stayed in anywhere.

I'm really jealous of anyone going out there soon. If I could, I'd be on that flight back out there tomorrow. :cry :cry

Thank you Emma for your reply, I will stay clear of the old market and just stick to the main area.
