Hi Mo. Think it was about this time of night that we arrived last October. The outside entertainment was finished but there is a bar in the hotel (up stairs past reception) which was still open at that time. Nice to have a drink to toast your arrival. Last year half way up there stairs there were some guys dressed as vampires who we encouraging you to go through a door into a "haunted passage". This is definitely not for very young kids. We eventually plucked up the courage to do it - it was really scary but a good laugh. Beware  The Dine Around facility was not available in the Theme Park last October as the Park shuts at 8.00 pm. We could use it to eat in the resaturants at the Port Aventura Hotel. We did this two nights - just sort it out on the day with Reception. Hope you have a great holiday. :D

Me and the boss went away last week for a few days and were at the theme park. We have been for the last three years with our two kids, aged 8 and 4 now, and there are plenty of smaller rides for that age group and your pair will enjoy it. Last week we went without the kids and the park is now on a halloween theme with giant spiders out the front at the entrance. Between Mexico and far west zones there is a Psychos circus which you walk through, we honestly havent laughed as much and would recommend it although dont bring the kids in so someone will have to stay outside with the wee ones. Enjoy yourselves wish I was back have to wait until July next year

We went last week to Port Aventura Halloween, you can get in for 14 euros each if you collect 10 promotional beer labels from estrella beer  which you can buy very cheaply in Carrefour supermarket and probably other places too.

Only thing is all the shows are only in Spanish and we did not understand much, although we speak a little Spanish it was so fast and colloquial.

Still a good day out, if you don't want to pay for parking then arrive by about 9.30 and park outside in the parking spaces in the dual carriageway road which goes up to the entrance, its not far to walk (5 mins to the ticket booths) and saves you a few euros. Or you can get the bus, there are lots but I don't know the cost.

I've just recently booked a holiday to stay in the Hotel El Paso, in Salou, this june. The booking includes 2 rooms, and we would like to get the rooms as close to each other as possible. So i wondered if anyone had an email address for the hotel el paso so that we can send in a request, as all i could find on the port aventura website was a contact form, but it didn't seem to relate to the hotels?

Any info will be appreciated!

Booked to go to el paso on 13th june through First Choice, one of the bonuses being free entry into waterpark until 1st july according to First Choice list of hotel benefits. Been on the official website for the park and hotels and they state its only free entry until 15th of June, bit confused, anyone know anymore :hmmm

Does anyone know the bar prices at the El Paso this year for Beers and cokes for the kids. Also what sort of things are available for lunch at the hotel and what were the prices like. I have got the idea they are really going to sting us with the prices as its a long walk to the supermarket in Salou to get supplies and no fridge to keep them in.

stayed at el paso oct 2005 and have rebooked for oct 2007,cant remember the exact prices, but they wernt horrific, lunch time by the pool was the usual burger, hot dog, toasted sandwiches, chips.baguettes,we found that we didnt drink a huge amount at night due to 1,too knackered, 2,bar service slow, i used to get a jamacan coffee bearing in mind that we had wine, beers etc with the meal, which consisted of 3 liquors,i think that was 5 or 6 euros, but you would struggle with more than2.i know that it was cheaper to buy a bottle of wine than by the glass,we took a bottle back to the room a few times, p.s. the breakfasts are fantastic,if you fill up on these you wont need much lunch. :)

Hiya,

We arrived back from the El Paso on Sunday afternoon. The drinks are indeed very expensive soft drinks being the worst(3 Euros) at only ten cents less than a pint of lager. I did not try the cocktails or bottles etc because the prices were ridiculous.
The afternoon snack bar sells chips, toasties or a sandwich which were ham and cheese only, burger or cheeseburger, chocolate bars and ice lollies that was it. The snack food was again pricey and in my opinion of poor quality.
You can hire a fridge for 64 Euros per week which is probably your best option. I don't think that these prices only reflect the El Paso though because we found soft drink prices everywhere were really high in Salou this year and I can't say that I have noticed this before.

thanks for the info. The soft drink prices sound awful with two kids they are going to cost a lot. Did you shop in the hotel supermarket at all, what were the price like in there to buy bottles of soft drinks.

there isnt a hotel spermarket as such more a gift shop, again prices for bottled water cheaper than the bar, there are vending machines on each corridor, but sometimes out of order, the thing is,it took me a while to realise that every time you order a drink at the bar the kids dont need one, lets face it would they drink 5 or 6 glasses of coke at home,i got them a drink at the first round then when they asked they got one,but beleive me they didnt want loads, but the offer was there,we spent a fortune in ibiza last year getting them to choose a drink when we did, untill the penny dropped,p.s. i am not tight, far from it but theres no point in worrying about the price of drinks,if you book 4 star then you unfortunatly have to pay 4 star prices.the best drinks we had were at a beach bar in salou,it was a pzza place and the glasses had been in the frezer it was ace. :) you wiil enjoy the holiday,i have to wait untill oct 2007 then we will be there mo :)

When we used to have our evening meal in the El Paso, we would get a large jug of sangria (which I know only works if you like it!) a large bottle of still water (made about 3 glasses) and a coke/fanta. I'm sure that used to cost about 13 Euros. 7 or 8? for the sangria. This jug made 4 largeish drinks. Lots of people did this so I assume it was a good value option.

We ate in the restaurant at the pool for lunch a couple of times and the food was an average price and we enjoyed it.

I think the drinks in the theme park were similar to what you would pay in legoland/chessington here.

As mo says get your water in the little shop not at the bar it's slightly cheaper.

Its a great place. You will have a brilliant time.

Hiya,

Yeah the shop is just really a gift shop with a drinks fridge with small bottles of water and fizzy drinks so we stocked up in Salou centre.
I do agree about how the children don't always need a drink everytime you get one sort of thing but I was drinking soft drinks aswell. The boys were drinking loads because they were hot and the drinks machines were either out of stock or out of order.
You actually got a better deal with drinks and food at the themepark itself as they had a much better choice. As I was saying the price of soft drinks was a feature overall in Salou this year not just the El Paso so it can't be put down to the 4* hotel= 4* prices. The El Paso is lovely but its changed you don't get all the advertised add ons and additional extras anymore and maybe thats why I was taken back by how much the drinks and snacks are, you pay too much money to have more squeezed out of you.

Hiya,

From the top of my head your room key is not a fast pass anymore(you get one ticket for a few rides now which can be used once). The courtesy bus does not take you into resort or a decent beach. No add on TV channels. It was also set alocated times for meals one family were late for evening meal slot and were provided with a pizza to take away and a box of chips. Food although still of a good standard seems to have started to follow the chips with everything rules, chips were even on the breakfast buffet  I know the above points may not sound major to some but hanging around for the rides was not great nor was trailing backwards and forwards into the centre its quite a hike with two little ones and we spent a fortune on taxis. Set meal slots were a pain again because of the little ones I felt as though everything was timed and did not do everything I wanted to on that holiday. I know Salou like the back of my hand so did not have to find my way around the place as such but still managed to miss out on loads through time wasting.
Even though I sound like a right moany so and so I would go back but on a late booking or something its too pricey. I paid £1350.00 for a week booked a year in advance the day before we left a same size family(2 A,2 C) arrived on a late deal with named accomodation and paid £745.00 for a fortnight.
I read loads on sites like this prior to booking and there certainly were more listed add ons missing but the above ones stand out because they directly affected our holiday.

Hi Tracy

Seems it has changed even since last August :( . I don't think I would like the idea of 2 sittings for the meal it's just too restrictive. My kids are keen to go back for 2 weeks in the main school hols, but it's putting me off especially as this is quite an expensive hotel.
