Im just about to book a weeks holiday at the Kanta from 7th October to the 14th with my Hubby & 2 of our younger children, cant wait. Our first time in Tunisia. (yes Im being naughty and taking the boys out of school for a week) The cost in the half term just rockets out of our budget range.
Has anyone used the late checkout rooms before, im just booking one so I assume the 4 of us can use it. I understand we can use it until 6pm.
My only gripe (which isnt about the hotel) is the awful flight times from Birmingham Airport. I can only get a 16:40 flight, meaning I wont get to the hotel until quite late (about 9-10ish) therefore I'll be paying for a day where we wont get to enjoy an evening meal at the hotel even!
Are all the other airports similar flight times?
No, my flight from Gatwick on 10th October is at 7 a.m., - some flights are earlier and some later. Many of the hotels will give you lunch on the last day if you miss a meal on the first due to late arrival and leave too early for dinner on that day.
I have now found another deal with Direct holidays to Hotel Kanta with much better flight times, so no need to book the late check out as the return flight is 1.45pm! Plus the deal was £150 cheaper!
Hi mrselliott, not long back from the Kanta had no need to use late check out room (you may be moved to another room) we meet soooooooooooo many lovely people who let us (3 adults and 2 kids) use their room on the day we where returning home. Regarding flights we left Belfast 23.55 hrs(delayed 30 mins not enough meals on board) and the pilot wouldn't leave untill 30 odd people where happy enough not to have an inflight meal. We paid for a 7 day holiday bot due to travelling etc it worked out 6 days..... its just one of those things.... enjoy wish it was me .................... You can order room service wish isn't that dear.
I managed to get better flights with Direct Holidays so no need for the late room know anyway which is great!
Whats you opinion of the food arrangements. We've booked half borad, do you think its better to have lunch or dinner at the hotel or a mix of both?
Are there good places to eat at the Marina of an evening? My elder son isnt fussy, as long as its not moving he'll eat it, but my 8 year old is really fussy. He likes burgers so if there is burgers he will manage I guess. My husband and I love fish/seafood in general.
mrselliott,we had breakfast and dinner and just got burgers etc from the snack bar,but one day we had lunch instead of dinner wasn't really impressed saying that we couldn't complain regarding breakfast and lunch in the hotel,im a fussy person but i just loved the food, there is something to suit everyone.Regarding eating out at the marine we didn't, we spented most of our time in the hotel complex, thats why we have booked to go back next year for 2 weeks to do a bit more than we did this year eg, eating out tours etc. There's no need to worry you will have a ball and the kids will love their burgers etc at the snack bar. When in Tunisia a lot of people we meet told us to try the floating boat in the marina as it was very nice.Anymore questions ask away. Haddy
I guess we will have a look around to see whats on offer.
Im not planning on any day excursions unless we get bored of course but its hard to get bored in one week. I would like to take a taxi to Sousse to visit the markets and shopping mall, but thats not really an excursion as such.
I hope there are some other children there when we go as its just before 1/2 term, just so the boys have other children to meet with. I dont really like taking the boys out of school, I just cant justify or afford the massive price jump for the half term week. The holiday goes up by another £350...its crazy!
I do have a couple of questions actually...well maybe more than a couple!
1. How long is the journey from the airport to the hotel by coach.
2. Do you recommend my husband and I buy alcohol from the airport to consume in our room. Im getting the feeling buying alcohol out there is not easy or am I mistaken.
3. Is there a local supermarket where I can buy wine etc and maybe some sweets for the kids
4. Do I really have to hide any alcohol I buy outside the resort whe coming back into the hotel?
5. Is there a gym at the hotel. I like running and my husband likes to do weight training.
6. Is there a safe in the rooms to put money and passports etc
If I think of any other questions on will ask away, thanks for the offer.
Hi mrselliott, the journey to the hotel is app 50mins when we went we where the last to be dropped off.I would buy your alcohol at the airport will work out cheaper (really depends on what you drink) we would drink vodka and to buy a well know brand in Tunisia (pek) it was working out £26.00 (normally £11.00 back home) there is a supermarket that sells alcohol beside the arch (the main entrance to the marina) it only opens to 20.00hrs you can go next door (still the same supermarket) and get the little ones sweets.Regarding buying your drink outside you will have to hide it or lose it untill your depart,it happened to me with a 2 litre coke . There is a gym didn't use it but think it has the basic equipment that you would need, there was no safe in our room (not that i ever noticed one) i think you can hire a safe out but they are where you would cash your money in the reception area and only the staff have access to them, i did notice people giving the member of staff passports etc he put them away and gave them the key back(just double check incase im wrong). Anymore questions ask away. Haddy.

Hi again mrselliott only me . There is safety deposit boxes at the reception, we didn't use them, we left our passports in the suitcases and even left money sitting on the dressing table and was there when we got back (not like us to be silly that way) try this web address;
Hi Mrs Elliott! My daughter & I stayed at this hotel in 05. It's a lovely hotel, with a good choice of meals. We could swop and have lunch or evening meal in case we wanted to go on a trip. I would definitely advise you to buy your alcohol at the airport. We took a couple of plastic glasses with us and kept them in the wardrobe with a bottle, so we could enjoy a tipple while getting ready to go out. The gym isn't very big but it had all the basic equipment. The safety deposit boxes are behind the reception desk and didn't cost much to hire. Around half way through the hols we took a wrong flight of stairs and landed up in a lovely room - complete with a book exchange. It made for an occasional game of cards to escape the heat of the day. I'm sure you'll enjoy.
