Has anyone stayed at the Kanta Hotel PEK recently, I'm interested to know weather the rooms have kettles/tea making facilities. I thought I had seen a posting saying that you were not allowed one??? I'm going in a month's time and can't live without my hot water bottle/early morning cuppa.
What's the indoor pool like ??
I'm started to get excited now, looking forward to seeing all the changes that I have read about.
Bye.

Travelling to Hotel Kanta 2007, can anyone tell me if men have to wear long trousers if going half board.
http://www.hotel-kanta.com and you will see what the Kanta has to offer, i found it very useful. Anymore questions ask away.Haddy. Ps also have a look at http://www.acquapalace.com looks good and only bot £6 quid per adult.
Jilly the Kanta has got the internet. Go into
Thanks scubaLeanna for the info wasn't to sure first time going to a hotel we usualy go self catering. When do you go ?.
In answer to your q about trousers in the restaurant, I think I read it in the brochure or on the net somewhere that men are required to wear long trousers for dinner in the Kanta.
Does anyone know if The Zoo that the hotel owns, is that the one that most folks say to avoid as the animals are so pitiful?
Thanks
Jilly
We fly out the same weekend as you but we are flying from Dublin instead of Belfast.
Anything else you're not sure about just ask and i'll try to help, this will be my 12th visit to Tunisia and most of those visits have been to the Kanta.

Can anyone tell me where to get an ATM or bank, will need to get one quickly on our first morning as we arrive in the middle of the night, or maybe there is one at the airport.
Sorry if this has been covered before and Ive missed it.
Jilly
Hi, there are plenty of open banks in the airport that will change your money for you. There usually open 24 hours.
If they are not open then there are some ATM machines in the marina, and there might be one in the hotel itself as some hotels have them.
Don't worry about changing money as the Kanta has it's own bank which is open 23 hrs a day, I think they are closed from 11.30am-12noon and closed for half an hour sometime in the evening. The rate will be the same wherever you change money in the country so you don't need to shop around for a good deal. They also have a visa card machine in front of the reception if you are using a card.
We usually arrive during the night and head straight to our room knackered and sort out the money after breakfast in the morning. I used to give the porter a £1 but now just tell him we'll see him again when we have dinars......mind you that has ended up costing me extra as there's a couple of the guys look alike and I forgot which one we owed the money to so I tipped them both. they are great guys tho and deserve all the tips they get!!
Leanna
Thanks for the info, its great to know! I feel rather vulnerable landing in a foreign country in the middle of the night without any money so to speak!
will take your advice, go to bed and sort the money out in the morning.
As you are going to be there the second week of my holiday, hope to see you!
Jilly
If anyone is really concerned about not having some cash to start with, despite all the advice and warnings we are given the TTT Bureaux de Changes at UK airports (at least the ones at Stansted, so I guess others too) will give you dinars. You don't get the best rate and obviously it is only notes, but if you just want something for a taxi it can be useful. I sometimes just get 20 dinars and this time it cost me just over £10. On the same subject, as I go out twice a year I always bring back some cash and although I have obviously been told that it is not allowed I've never had a problem. When I've discussed this with other people I was assured that they aren't really bothered unless it is large sums and the most I've brought back is about 60 dinars. Do please note that this is not advice but it is what I've done for several years.
No problem Jillyjeep
thanks for the advice, not sure if Belast International would have dinars! Its not a very big airport.
Will just go ahead and sort the money out in the morning after arrival.
Cheers
Jilly
hi jillyjeep! The porter at the airport actually asked us for "pounds" and the bell boys at the hotel were equally happy to accept pound coins as tips. One note of caution - push your own trolley to the bus unless you want to tip as it will be expected!
Thanks for the tips, will make sure to have pound coins and also push my own trolley! I will find it strange to know when to tip and when not to. suppose I should use the rule, if someone volunteers to do something for me, then they must want paid, and theyre not doing it out of the goodness of their heart.
Jills
Hi jillyjeep! If your transferring to the resort by bus the driver will also have a basket on his dash for tips. We also gave our waiter a small tip on the first night & had excellent service for our stay, and then gave him something a little more substantial on our last night.
hi can any one give me any reassurance on the question im about to ask apparently some one has said there is building work going on at the kanta hotel this is news to me and i have not be told this by my travel agents .please could anyone help we are due to go on the 5th august which is not to far away all responses much appreciated.while im here has anyone got some info on prickly heat my hubby suffers quite bad all over his chest we have tried eveythink from tablets to creams its so sad that he has to cover up and in the heat its worse thanks christine
Try Solcura Sun n Tan. You spray it on before applying suntan lotion. I found it great. Also took antihistamine for a month before going and throughout the holiday.
