Hi.
I am hoping to go to a wedding being held at Lodore Falls Hotel, Borrowdale on 28 March. I have tried to book a room at the hotel, but you have to stay a minimum 2 nights, the receptionist found a room but it was quite costly at £103 pp ( 2 of us are going, travelling from Manchester) I was prepared to pay for a room at £84pp, but I thought £103 was a bit steep.
I would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions for a hotel/B@B which is in the same vicinity to the Lodore Falls Hotel,
Thanks
M
http://www.activehotels.com. If you put in the post code of the Lodore Falls Hotel CA125UX it will bring up others nearby also.
There are some B&B's on this web site

The Lodore Falls is in a beautiful setting and always had an excellent reputation but the last time I was in the area it was part of the Stakis group which have since been bought out by the Hilton chain and so I wouldn't want to comment on the standard of accommodation etc but the location can't be bettered and there is so much to do and see in the immediate vicinity that it would be good place to base yourself for a weekend. The lovely hamlet of Watendlath (the setting for the Rogue Herries novels), Lodore Falls themselves and the Bowder Stone are all within a relatively short walking distance. And speaking personally, for me the convenience of being 'on-site' would be worth the extra.

Thanks for your replies,
Yes it was £103 per person per night. I will look on the other web sites to see what is on offer.
Thanks again.

Not sure if they are close but I stayed in Windermere in the Ellerthwaite Lodge Guest house Windermere and that was charming. Would be a great drive over to Borrowdale. I am afraid I cannot list the link but have a look via google!
That's a long way to drive back to bed after a wedding do! You're right - it would be a lovely drive, especially via the scenic route but even the quickest route along the A591 (which isn't necessarily the shortest in the Lake District!) would take at least 45 minutes to an hour. It's only about 25 miles but that's on single carriageway roads and if you are unfamiliar with the area then they're best taken fairly slowly. Margaretcarroll's best bet for finding somewhere cheaper would be in Keswick itself which has a good range of both hotels and B&Bs to choose from or in Grange in Borrowdale which is where the nearest alternatives are likely to be found. It would still involve a short drive or taxi ride of 2/3 miles but nothing like the drive from the northern lakes down to Windermere in the south of the district.
Yea your right!
don't know if it's too late - but we stayed at the borrowdale hotel last year - wonderful oldy worldy hotel - worth a look

Late rooms had this hotel at £142 for 2 people - it's full now though for your dates, but in future it's always worth checking other internet sites rather than the hotel itself
The Heights Hotel, The Kings Arms Hotel, The Skiddaw Hotel and The Queens Hotel are all in Keswick and would do you a good price i would think. I've stayed at all of them before.
