Arr, poor FouFou! So is your name Lucy then, I will mention you when I go in April!
Yes my name is Lucy and they all know me at the Houda!! FouFou even came to the airport on Sunday to say goodbye!! He's a little sweetheart!!
That was sweet of him. I like all the entertainment team but I got on best with him, he made me laugh! I'll ask him about his back when I go over and say 'Lucy told me'! How old are you by the way? (I'm 22)
I am 18 and Hilel (Joe) is 19, he will be 20 in March. All the team were great weren't they. You'll have to let me know what the new team are like when you go back!!
My boyfriend and I are going to Tunisia for the first time in June this year, staying at the Houda.
Like other people, we have read lots of mixed messages about the hotel-i have heard that the hotel has recently been taken over. Has anybody been recently, since this take over? Can you tell me anything about the hotel?Or give me some reasurrance?
Also, anybody else going there in June please let us know.
Are there lots of trips/excursions in the Skanes area? We have booked with First Choice so if anyone knows any of the trips they run please let me know.
Sorry theres so many questions!!
Thanks everyone
The staff are friendly and helpful although there is a new entertainment team there now and I don't know what they are like. My fiance was in the old team and they left just after Xmas. We went to this hotel with Thomson, although we have been to Tunisia many times with First Choice and they are a good company to travel with. You can book excursions with them or with the guys in the reception.
All in all, it's a good hotel for a 3 star and I would go there again. Hope this helps a bit!!
my name is Tricia.
1'm staying at the houda beach and golf club in June. we are a party of six, four adults and two children (11) & (9). I have been looking at the reviews and have found some good ones. Having said that I have found some bad ones.
our holiday starts the 5th June for two weeks.
Go with an open mind and experience something completely new
We just miss you-we fly out on the 19th, so you will just be coming back.
I heard that the hotel was taken over in about october/november, and it was around that time that all the bad reports seem to have been filing in! More recently, there have been reviews posted by people who were out there in feb/march this year, and things seem to have improved loads. So, im thinking that maybe the hotel was just having change-over problems!
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday-the hotel looks great for kids, so Im sure you will have have a great time-I cant wait now-Ive been doing what 'welshoney' has suggested-and just thinking about it with an open mind!
Get in touch again if you want anymore more chats about the houda!
Hi Jennakate,
We visited the Houda last June and had a lovely time. Booked to go again this June fly out on the 15th. Do so hope some of the staff/animation team are there from last time - they were so friendly.
Going with my husband, son (9) and daughter (6), and another 2 families. Was getting worried reading some of these bad reports - wasnt aware that the hotel had been taken over. Do hope I am not disappointed and have a good time like last June. Fingers crossed! We may see some of you? love Nicky x

I'm a great believer in this site, have a lot to thank HT for, and we weighed up the various and varying reports, and decided in the end that the many positives outweighed the negatives.
Part of what did decide me was the lovely pictures posted here on HT; the fact that other holidaymakers had taken them makes them far more relevant than any brochure picture.
Thank you lucylocket for your most helpful comments on food drink and the bottled water; just what I wanted to see, thanks!
We fly out to the Houda on the 19th of June, for two weeks, so should see you there! How long are you going for?
We cant wait to go, despite anything bad we have read-im sure it will be lovely!
What is the beach at the Houda like, from what you remember of last year?
Jennakate x
We are going for 2 weeks - fly on the Wed 15th, so yes will see you there. Been a bit worried about some of these reviews, went last June and the kids loved it as much as we did. entertainment could have been better - but we still had a laugh with the animation team.
There will be 6 adults , 2 children, 2 toddlers and baby in our party now - my brothers family are joining us.
The beach was lovely last year - very hot to the feet - my daughter wasnt keen so spent most of the time round the pools.
I know a family that are flying out tom (8th May) for 2 weeks, so when they get back will be asking them lots of questions and will let you know.
How many are in your party?
Love
Nicky
We will have just finished our degrees and just wanted to flop on a beach somewhere, so we are putting the bad reviews to the back of our minds! The hotel looks great for kids though-i bet yours cant wait.
I would really appreciate you letting me know what your friends thought when the get back-that would be a great help.
I will keep checking this board so stay in touch before we go!
Love
jenna
i am off to the houda on 25th september for 2 weeks and just wondered if anyone will be able to answer a couple of my questions?
i just wanted to know if there are safety deposit boxes in the rooms and how much is the deposit for it?
also i was just wondering if there are atm cash mashines that take link and maestro cards in or near the hotel, and if it costs to take money out?
thank you for your help.
You pay 10 TD deposit on the key and 10TD a week for the hire.
Nearest ATM is in Sousse, about half and hour by taxi - noe at the hotel.
i read a review and it said that there is a 'fixed time' process where you have to go to dinner at a set time is this true? or is there just a time slot? Also would you be able to tell me what the all inclusive drinks are like and could i get a local equivalent of malibu, as i have been able to before.
Sorry for all the questions and thank you again for your help.
