There are more and more making for tenerife and Gran Canaria because the Spanish navy and Guardia have pretty well covered Fuerteventura`s coastline now, which was previously the favoured landing
Sorry, but that is simply not true, Tenerife and Gran Canaria have received the most immigrants right from the word go the resources and the Spanish navy could not cope.
These were the figures a few months back which total 7,500"¦to date the figure now stand at 11,000.
32 made it to the Island of Lanzarote.
381 to the Island of El Hierro.
816 to Fuerteventura.
835 to La Gomera.
2,016 to Gran Canaria and
5,514 came aboard in Tenerife.
I would be more worried about where and what they are doing after being released in mainland Spain and it is estimated 60,000 illegals have entered Spain in the last 4 months alone . you can avoid the Canary Islands if you so wish.
Do you think they are going to stay in Spain with no means of support.?
Whilst I have sympathy on one hand, let's not forget that these people chose to enter a country illegally, therefore they are criminals and know that from the very beginning and deliberately destroy their papers.
They may come for a better life, but if we didn't have so many immigrants, then I'd have a better life.
I suspect that the influx of immigrants on this scale is also linked to the increase in petty crime we keep hearing about.
That can be proved in the statistics for Spain, so I cannot see the Canary Islands being any different....can you.?
