Had my appointment at 10am at Hayes. Was seen almost immediately. in and out in 15 minutes. The lady said I'd have my passport back by Friday. Bearing in mind that it'll be closed on the 26th for Republic Day thats really quick.. :tup

We agree Prettypollycat! (just joking).
The sad thing is that Goa is going to lose so many decent, repeat holidaymakers who were so faithfull to the place and probabably would of returned for years to come.
They won't get these people back and yes the Goan people in general are going to lose out but what will they do about it...nothing! I could write a list of the things that the government has done to take the bread from these peoples mouths...their own people!!
Nothing surprises me anymore but i think they should of stood up for themselves and their livelyhoods.
(Bad spelling i know!).

If you come back in March and the VISA lasts until April you haven't got a problem.
Enjoy !

Just got back from High commission in Birmingham. We left at 0500hrs from Liverpool, junction 19 M6 gridlocked! arrived Birmingham 0730am only 6 people in front of us.
We have been here before for our visas and they where queueing down the street so we did not want to miss out as we both had to take the day off from work. ( well it turns out that we both didnt have to be there)
Anyway by 0900hrs there where about 70 people there, they let us in and we took a raffle ticket each from the machine , this was still not enough to deter people from trying to jump the queue, you all know the situation trying to get the bus or the ferry in Goa !
We got called to the reception window when our number was announced they took the ticket and told us to go to window 3 we waited for about 30 minutes then we had to show the downloaded form from the visa site with one photo each attached, passports, 2 £7 postal orders (although they where taking cash) proof of air travel & accommodation and the date we had booked the holiday.then we where told to photocopy all the documents plus the photo page and the visa page from our passports and write a small letter explaining that we had booked the holiday before the 2 month rule was implemented :think lo and behold the photocopier was not working and we had to go around to the post office, while we where at the post office I asked for a SDE envelope.
We went back to window 3 and the receptionist was telling an english couple to come back Thursday afternoon to collect their passports.
We couldnt get another day off work so i asked the clerk if she would post them for us, she said " you need an SDE envelope" :tup
All done and dusted for 1115 am. £35 petrol 2 x £7 postal orders and a day off work . :yikes Well I think that has been the straw that broke the camels back on our 2 visits to Goa , Enough is ENOUGH !!!! :banghead: :banghead:
scorpion.

Oh Sorry Noggin , I for one would not chance going without getting that stamp in my passport.
Some Jobsworth in the airport be it Uk or Dabolim would take great delight in turning you away!!!

On the subject of 3 month visas mentioned by Spaldy, I've just read a post on the main visa thread from nikkie who has been issued with a 3 month visa.

Any chance of passing on this Saturday's winning lottery numbers, Spaldy? :rofl

Many thanks for all you who have got back to me.... :cheers (still not sure who impliments it :que )
We are going back in April to wedding...a good friend of ours from a family we met on our first visit in 2000 has invited us to his happy day.

But like many on here...it could be our last.
We have had so many fantastic times in Goa over the years....i cannot believe how it is and has changed.
Many places change...sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad....but to me it seams like it is all bad in Goa.... :cry

Well i did have 4 numbers last wendsday Prettypollycat..£44!! But i won't let it change me!
Where was the lady issued a 3 month visa?..i think this will become the norm now along with the 2 month clause.
Reply
Although she didn't say where, it must have been Hayes as she mentions sending Special Delivery Envelopes.
So if the 3 month visa becomes the norm for next year, it will mean that all the long stayers will only be able to go for 3 months at a time - and that will affect the income for the people who let apartments.
Crazy or what?

£44 for 4 numbers is appalling!

If they do change to a 3 month visa and the visa starts from the date issued, longtermers will have to leave it to the very last minute to apply in order to be able to stay as long as possible. It will be more a two and half month stay rather than a full 90 days!
Reply
A lot of people ourselves included have been going out twice a year for many years on our 6 month visa, so when the 90 day visa is implemented that will be the end of that.
I think this next holiday could be our last in Goa, we would prefer to go somewhere that made us welcome.
Last one out , turn off the lights !
( unless of course there is already a power cut) ;)

Slightly off topic but whilst on the topic of the government doing basically what they want without warning the freezing of FN's bank accounts would be of no surprise to me at all. Mainly because of the property fiasco going on with people being unable to register their properties and also people under investigation.
I had 2 accounts in Goa,one i have closed the other i left a small amount in as it was less hassle and paperwork.
This is only my thoughts and hopfully i am wrong.

We left on the 13th December 2009 and are returning on 17th February, nine-and-a-half week gap, does anyone think we will have a problem?

To be honest Dave now it has been splattered all over the newspapers yes i do. I think it would be best to take all your paperwork and get permission. Just my opinion.
