says on the bottom you have to register with the local FRRO/FRO within 14 days of arrival.
does anyone know what/where this is in goa.
i did ask but i didnt get any answer
Is that not the form you fill in at a hotel or guest house, Our Landlady gives us one to fill in per person every year, keep thinking I must take some duplicate paper out for her as it has to be in duplicate and I end up filling in 4 forms each time!
The FRO is in Panjim in the police station.
ok thanks
This rule seems to be a nonsense - why are we paying for a multiple visit visa when you can't actually "multi visit" without a load of extra stress. I can see Goa/India being a no-go zone before long, and if that's what they want they will get it. Just hope we are going to be as strict with Indian population wanting to come to England
I was thinking the same thing ilovegoa, we are paying for a 6 month multi entry tourist visa so surely this means we can visit as often as we want during the 6 months that the visa is valid for. I know the new rule has been made by the Indian government, but it is being implemented in the UK - this may be a really stupid thing to say but surely this "product" is being miss-sold and is not doing "what it says on the tin" so to speak and we are not getting what we are paying for.........would trading standards be interested to hear about this? As I said, maybe I am just being stupid........wouldn't be the first time Fizz
The probs with the six month visa for people who wish to live in India are apparent. Everyone who applies for a visa to cover their 2 week holiday will come under scrutiny ..just in case. While I have much sympathy for folks who have bought a property in Goa, or indeed choose to live there permanently in rented accommodation, Is it not time the Indian government considered a local (at dabolim) issue of a 2 or 3 week tourist / holiday visa for the vast majority of visitors who turn up for their 2/3 weeks and go home until the next year? I believe Russian tourists have such an arrangement. This SHOULD be cheaper for tourists, leave immigration staff dealing more efficiently with people who wish to stay longer, and, leave the remainder with much less form filling.

filled out forms online, posted all that was to be posted and recieved back exactly 1 week later. Seemples ! All set for take off roll on March 18th
Does anyone know how long it takes when you have filled them in "the old fashioned" way? (ie. by hand)

Doesn't make any difference I shouldn't think. They still have to wait for your passport to arrive in the post anyway.
Have you tracked your application?this will give you a good indication where they are.
I filled mine in online, posted in Douglas Sat morning got them Thursday.
Hi Manxcat, I didnt do it online so wont be able to track it. Just a case of wait and see
im sorry if this question has been posted before.....
But how does this new "2 month visa rule" work and who impliments it ?
Lets say you dont have the benefit of been able to get advice on this site....and know nothing about the new rule...you come home from your holidays...then decide to go back to Goa 1 month later (on the same origional 6 month multi entery visa)...
Will you be stopped and imformed that you are not able to continue at the UK airport....or aloud to travel then stopped in Goa and sent back ?
Like i said earlier, sorry if this question has already been asked and answered...
We have decided to go to Birmingham and apply for re-entry as we return on 22nd having left on 12th Jan...........fingers crossed
Jules
I was at an Indian travel agency just a few days ago..... I have only 2 pages left in my passport and I need 3 for the visa now, they put the visa on 1 page , on the adjacent page they put a large green stamp clearly stating no re entry permitted within 2 months , then another page for the entry/exit stamps this means I have to get a new passport pretty quick as I go in 6 weeks, I paid extra for a 48 page passport this time round as if the Indian Visa takes 3 pages then a 32 day standard one will not last very long
Probably best to do what Goaaddict is doing and get permission first (that's if you know about the rules). Besides the travelling costs as you have to apply in person you will have to pay an extra 7 pounds..an absolute liberty i think!
I for one will be changing destinations...sorry i know you don't all agree but the negatives outweigh the positives in my eyes. It's just not worth it anymore.
ps. I would also predict the tourist visa will be cut to 3 months by next season so thats something to think about before booking long term tickets because one things for sure you won't get any warning.
No hassle Shirley.

Probably (and unfortunately) one of the most true statements I've ever read on here.
OK, so the Indian government can change immigration rules whenever they wish (it is their country, after all) - but the total lack of notice, plus the confusing way they interpret changes and the poor method of communicationg changes is in danger of killing the tourist trade in Goa.
Lots of shop, bar & restaurant owners thought it was quite in November 2009 - I think they'll have a bigger shock throughout next season.
I've also read that someone who recently applied for a 6 month visa was given a 3 month one (no explanation!) so I don't think I'd bet against that becoming the norm.
