Thanx KatieP does this also apply to Manchester & London offices? My niece is an air steward so can't be without her passport for longer than 4 days ?
Thanx
I have just finished my on-line visa application and intend to take the printed forms to the Indian centre in Manchester has anyone done this and the next question is can i pay there for it, what method of payment will they accept and finally cost of 6 month visa
I do ours at Birmingham
I always pay online so all I have to do is drop the paperwork in.
We got year visas last time so we had the gamble that we would have paid for a year and only got 3 or 6 months.
If Manchester is anything like Birmingham they have card machines at the desks when you hand the paperwork over.
All the best
Steve
Hi we went to Manchester for our visas last year, be prepared to wait at least 3 hours! You need to take a debit card ( they don't take cash) 2 x 2 photos & a paid special delivery envelope, don't forget to print off ur declaration. Cost is about £30 plus admin charge

There's no way to get a visa on the same day anymore - at any of the offices (unless there's something that gives a same day visa in emergencies, but that would still not apply to your niece).
Quickest way for her is to either go in person to one of the places which accept personal applications and also allow you to collect in person when ready - check here:
http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/contactus.html
Not all places that accept personal applications let you collect them - for example you can take them to the Manchester office but they return them by post or courier.
1. Addresses where staying in India before - this is our 13th visit do we need to list all the hotels and addresses/apartments or is it just our last visit - re the visa number etc again i take it it applies to last years visit?
I have just got a new passport so this will be the 1st time I will used it (bet the visa isnt stuck on 1st page!) so I have no previous visa in the passport but hubby has lots
I think I've kinda answered my own question but confirmation would be great - I always get nervious when sending off as I know lots of other HT member do
Thanks in advance
Jules
it's the place you stayed on your last visit, not all the places on your previous visits.
You will still need to put in the last visa number even if it is a new passport.
WOW!! Filled applications online on Monday, appointment to take them to B'ham Tuesday, just had message to pick them up tomorrow!!! Not bad! Not bad at all!!! Phew!!

Handed in our passports on Friday so many people getting turned away as they do not have the right form, it has to be the one on the vfs global site, has to be filled in online then printed as it has a bar code, just thought I would let you know.
Thanks for prompt reply Goanmad Tony........guess I'll have the normal 2wks wondering if all done correctly ha ha
for example there's a checklist - VISA CHECKLIST SUBMISSIONS BY POST and then there's the "tourist visa" checklist.
Incidentally the submissions by post checklist says to send to the India Visa Appliction Centre in Hayes, Middlesex.
I read on one of the earlier posts, that one of the reasons the form can be sent back is because flight itinerary not attached, but we are told not to book flights until you have the visa, which was my intent, What to do!!!
any advice

I didn't send any flight itinery, as for checklists - I sent the lot!
As liz said, they do not require flight details
WOW took passports to London on Friday and this morning they are ready for collection, must be some kind of record

jph77 - the ONLY place to post applications to is the Hayes address.
I DID send a checklist with my application, I think it was the tourist visa one, but I've read that people who didn't send the checklist have still got their visas OK.
I cant beleive after all the years of going to goa I have a query about visa's

The only people I read about who've had their applications returned asking for an itinerary are people who've asked for double entry (rather than multiple) as it seems to make them think you're leaving India and want to go back within the 2 months.
