yes spike. its still the same this year. i did mine then pats and paid seperately online. apart from that it wasnt too bad apart from doing the waiting game.

I couldn't find one.... had to pay twice.
For reasons only VFS know, they've taken away the option of paying for 2 or more visas at once, you have to do seperate applications now and pay seperate as well. You can still send your Passports together and (2 Passports per envelope) return.
what is the chance of getting a one year visa!!!
not sure of the cost, but would save the hassle of applying for another 6 mth
one.
Thanks

I think it's about £20 more for the year visa, it's on the vfs site.

Please note that with effect from March 14th 2011 an additional Consular Charge of £ 2 will be added onto all visa application fees. Applicants are requested to adjust their payments accordingly.
The High commission on India has increased the service fee for regular visa and surrender of Indian passport applications w.e.f 12 September 2011. The New Service fee for all regular visa & surrender applications will be £10.20 instead of £9.24 inclusive of applicable VAT. All the applicants are requested to include the new service fee while organising their payments.
The service fees for Urgent Business VISA will remain as £25 plus applicable VAT.

Tourist Up to six months 30
One year (maximum stay of 180 days per visit) 50
However, when I printed out the forms - there they were and obviously no answers to the questions.
I tried applying again in case I had missed the questions, but it was exactly the same.
The only thing I could do was - to fill in the answers in black ink.
When I got to VFS in Edinburgh, I told them about this - the woman gave a shake of her head and said they knew all about this problem.
Off to Goa in FEB 2012 and thinking of returning again in NOV/DEC 2012
what is the chance of getting a one year visa!!!
Hi aarond,
Last February I decided to try for the 1 year visa, having been told by the staff at Edinburgh VFS that, after six previous 6M visas, this would likely be approved.
And it WAS! In Feb 2011 I got my 12 month visa which doesn't expire till Feb 2012.
So my last use of it will be in January 2012, however now I'm getting nervous that maybe the airline checkin staff will reject me because there's only just enough time left on the visa to cover my holiday period. Though other HTers have assured me I'll be OK.
Might be worth asking if the "six previous visas" thing is a general rule, or just the way Edinburgh operates before you cough up the extra fee. Apparently if they actually issue a shorter period visa than applied for, they do not refund the difference in cash.....
ukbill, as long as your visa covers your length of stay in India it won't matter what anybody thinks so don't panic.
Bill i had only i day left on my visa when i left Goa in march 10 so dont worry you'll be fine.
We had to do them as two separate applications and make two separate payments. Found the tracking system very slow too even the Royal Mail one. It was delivered to us before it went on the Royal Mail tracking system. Not complaining though as we have got them now and everything is forgotten until next year.
Thanks for all your responses regarding the tracking, it seems that there is no 'norm' when it comes to the tracking system. Fingers crossed that by this time next week we're sitting with the visas in our hands.
I noticed this also when I was checking our forms before submitting, like you I filled them in by hand before submitting.
but this time shall be using a brand new passport, will they check records
to see how many visa,s we have had over the years?
taking the forms into Cardiff Embassy maybe they will be able to help
thanks again

They will know how many times you have entered India ann, so will make no difference that it's a new passport

Seems they haven't fixed this problem yet; we noticed it last season. We also filled in the gaps by hand.
That used to be two in each country.
Look at sample visa form - http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/pdf/Sample%20Copy_Application%20Form.pdf

My parents which were submitted at the same time, in the same envelope, have now been processed, but their application was for single entry.
It has so far taken VFS 10 days from receipt to process my parents on to the High Commission for the Visa and to decide to return ours. This is more longer than in previous years, so I guess that if I get ours returned by Wednesday they will not process until the 26th. Thankfully we do have some time to spare but anyone hoping for a fast turn around had better drop their applications off in person.
