We booked our trips through Seaside Tours - paragliding, horseriding, boat trip, jeep safari. We thought they were good value for money and the service was great.
Prices in the town varied from 3.5 tl to 5 tl for a large Efes. Set menus for three courses were between 17tl and 25tl. The best meals were had were at El Ninos, The Turkish Ivy and Moonlight Terrace. Abrakebabrah did really lovely breakfasts. The meal we had at the Sunset was dreadful - all the food was cold. At the Goldon Leaf it was also bad - the food was not very nice and one of our party got served a bream instead of a bass and they swore blind it was a bass! We also had breakfasts at Del Boys and Beach Boys - both were okay but not as nice as Abrakebabrah.
We spent our evenings in the Lycian Bar and Aloha. Both were ok prices and the service was absolutely fabulous. We tried a few other bars too but none compared really. The Grand Boozey was awful - no atmosphere and we felt quite on edge in there. Similarly I wasn't keen on Time Out.
The weather was changeable. Mostly hot and sunny with a couple of overcast days. It rained twice in the mornings but by the afternoon it had cleared up. It was VERY hot on Friday - 37 degrees!
Haggling seems to be a thing of the past. A lot of shops will not move on prices AT ALL. I bought a ring at Oz Gold and there was no movement on the price, another in our party bought a shirt in town and they wouldn't come down on the price at all. However, you may have more luck haggling in the Monday Market. I recommend you buy your Turkish delight there. We got 6 large boxes for 25lira - the kind they fill up in front of you. The ready filled boxes are a con - once you open them you realise there's only a tiny bit of sweets inside. One of our party bought their Turkish Delight from the Thorntons Turkish Delight factory in town and they charged her 10 lira per box!
This was my sixth visit to Hisaronu. I've been in May a few times before and this is the quietest I've ever seen it. Our plane going out and coming back were only half full. Everyone was asking "where are the English this year, why don't they come to Turkey?"
We had a few minor injuries in our party. My mother got bitten by a mozzie on her eye and her whole face blew up! She went to the 24 hour doctor next to the Woodman's restaurant - he gave her an injection and it cured it immediately. It cost her about £50 but she said it was worth every penny. (The doctor was quite dishy too so I suspect that helped )
Also I should add, we went to Olu Deniz for a look around one day and there it is MUCH MORE expensive than Hisaronu for food and drinks. If you are going to Olu, it is worth getting on the Dolmus and eating in Hisaronu instead!
