Hi Haymans,
glad you had a great time. We're off to Olu Deniz in August and although I believe it's more expensive there than Hisaronu it's nice to get an idea of prices. Did you go to the beach at all and if so how much was it for 2 beds and a parasol? I read on another forum that they're quite pricey.
thanks.

We didn't sit on the beach I'm afraid. We had a villa with a private pool so we made the most of that. We did go down there one day to get on a boat trip though and the beach was very empty.

we have just come back from Hisaronu but spent our days at Billies private beach on the lagoon you get picked up from your hotel and brought back free of charge and it is 12 lire for 2 beds and an umberella his food and drink prices were exactly the same as last year 5 lire for a large beer.

Hi annemel,
how did you arrange for them to take you to Billie's beach? Did your hotel do that for you? Thanks. Also, I'm just ondering how far the lagoon is from Karbel hotel, olu? Would it be too far to walk there in the August heat?

Hi maverick.

I was terribly British and didn't complain at the Sunset (it is one of the restaurants in front of the Go Karts). I kicked myself afterwards, but I didn't want to cause a fuss or any embarrassment for them.

i will let them know they are really good friends of mine and would be very upset if they had known
ahmed and ahmed pride themselfs on what they do
my wife and i always eat there when we eat in the village :sun2

Yes they probably should know. I just figured there were enough restaurants in Hisaronu for me not to have to go back there so notched it up as a bad meal and moved on.

Hi haymans74 ,

Glad you had a good time, you've advsied the Efes is around -3.5-5tl is this for Bottles or pints as last year they seemed to charge more for the Bottled efes than a pint also what are they charging for sprits and Cocktails and are there any BOGOF on offer ?

One other thing when you ate at the moonlight have they got a pool table ibn there ?

Cheers

The price I quoted for the Efes is for a large bottle. I didn't come across anywhere selling it draft.

The Moonlight does have a pool table.

We were paying around 8 lira for a vodka and coke or gin and tonic.

I never saw anywhere with a BOGOF offer.

Just got back from calis beach and was shocked at how prices have risen in 12 months, Full English was between 8 and 12 lira, plate of chips 7 lira most meals 28 lira you can get cheaper but have to shop around never saw a breakfast under 8 lira though, effes remains the same 3.50 a bottle 4 on draught, last year the water taxi was 2 lira now its 5 lira, the Turks are blaming the taxman and the volcano and saying that not enough brits are there, the ones that were were not happy with the prices and many Brits were buying food from the market and cooking their own, having said that Turkey is still a lot cheaper than some countries on the Euro but they need to be carefull of falling into the same trap as say Spain or they might be looking over their shoulders and wonder where all the Brits are if prices keep going up, we spoke to a Turkish shop owner who told us taxes have risen there by 25% so its being passed on to the tourist, if you went last year and have booked to go this year you will need more cash this time .

same as here in the uk tax rises on most things drink ciggi's etc not sure about vat if that has gone up as well :sun2

Hi,

Yes that is Sabri! He is now working at the Lycian Cocktail Bar near the Monday market. He went out with us a few times after work and was a lot of fun :)

Re the question about the price of sun beds at Olu Deniz, we went to the Blue Lagoon for the day last month when we were staying in Fethiye and it cost 16 lira for 2 beds and umbrella plus 8 lira for two of us to actually get in to the beach so it's not cheap.

Just got back yesterday and honestly don't know what you're talking about with the Golden Leaf, ate there 2 nights - the food was amazing compared to some of the crappy places in Hisaronu that try to cater for English people and end up losing their Turkish heritage, like the Abrahkebabrah. Try the Desty Kebab at the Golden Leaf - the name doesn't give it away - it's a traditional Turkish meal that doesn't appear on the menu and is essentially a casserole that had been cooked in the bred oven for over 8 hours. They come in chicken or lamb or mixed.

Most people who are prepared to try the local specialities aren't disappointed - it's only the typical Brits who pay £700 to go to another country and eat bacon, egg and chips for breakfast, lunch and tea then complain because it 'dahn't taste rite dannit' that seem to complain about the food.

Please do remember that Turkey has a large Muslim population so the bacon and sausages have only been added to the menu to cater for people who refuse to let go of British food and probably travel with a suitcase full of Heinz Beans and Tetley tea, therefore they don't always taste right. Try Turkish Menamen for breakfast if you fancy something more substantial than the normal Turkish breakfast - it's essentially scrambled eggs with peppers, onions, tomatoes etc. but all places do it differently.

Other places of note are: Alex's, Dominos and The Terrace in Hisaronu; Memo, Shades, Angels, Four Seasons and Diva in Ovacik then Help Bar, Captain Hook's and Madras in Oludeniz
