Im in same situation, my dad said hloiday insurance will not make a difference as it only covers you for dates you are away.. I cannot beleive fc have not even contacted us to tell us situation, I am so angey and upset. What are we supposed to tell our children?

Unfortunately, not exactly right as it covers you for cancellation purposes from date of booking.

However, you would not be able to make an insurance claim on the reason of First Choice withdrawing.

I'm still wandering if i can get my deposit back as not due to pay balance till 15th july hmmmm cant beleive what they have done.......how callous r FC for leaving till very last minute to inform ppl the bad news ONCE AGAIN!! i'm due to pay some of balance tom...i wander if my FC agent will mention they will be cancelling ( day b4 departure) when i pay them a visit tom......

AND after been given confirmation all is up and running apart from horse riding... SHAME ON U FC......

Technically, you should be able to cancel with a full refund. However, they will probably try and get you to re-book something else and transfer the deposit across.

I booked though holiday house and I have heard nothing, but fc probable have not told travel agents either

I can not believe that they have done this yet again...this is just not fair, to cancel 2 weeks before is bad enough but ONE day is just totallly unaccepatable..FC need to compensate BIG TIME..I feel really gutted for all you that were going early July.

We all knew from the BBC programme that it just wasn't going to happen, Fc were just in denial, but they just managed to convince us yet again that it would all be open, even up to last week they led me to believe that is was going to open, structure engineers had been out everything was ready, was advised that they didnt want the bad publicity & risk their reputation....I feel sorry for the poor Customer Service Agents that are going to be maning the phones over the next week, I bet they must have been just as worried as us lot, Is It or Isn't going to happen what is my day going to be like!!!! I know it is very frustrating, when all we want is a decent holiday to chill for a couple of weeks a year, when we all work hard the rest of the time...perhaps they should put the managers/directors on the phones to sort this mess out, cant see though..

I am still in shock!! I just cannot get over that fc have treated us in this way! How dare they not even tell us what is going on, we have all paid a lot of money for this and they have not even contacted us to tell us holiday cancelled. Meant to be going in a week, when will i receive a call!!

The reason First Choice thinks they can get away with such actions is because they know they can. What options do you have at this moment. Take them to court? How many of you will chance that? If you lose you have to pay your lawyer and their lawyer fees.

Of course you do have another option. Write them an angry letter telling them of how discusted you are and close it off by stating that in the future you will take your business elsewhere. And carry on with your threat. But when people in this forum write how they have booked this hotel for next year after all of the lies, why shoudn't they do what they have done. From what I have heard from second hand reports from the trade workers there construction is pretty shaby so the civil engineers report is probably correct. But to notify people at the last minute, is unacceptable.

Given the last minute situation many of you will be forced to book again with fc and that is understandable. But in essence what they have done is sold you a last minute deal and a price higher than if they had sold the package independly.

Finally many of you are scrambling the find a last minute AI hotel. What I am going to say is self serving and but also the truth. If you do not want to believe me, fine. That is your choice.

But time and time again I keep hearing from workers who work in the Kitchens of these AI hotels how discusted they are with the food they have to prepare and serve. So discusted that they do not want to touch it. This is the food that many of you think is good for your kids. Like I said last month 17 euros per person per day is what a three star hotel receivces. They only way to make a profit is by buying garbage. Having your kids run around unsuperived eating ice cream and drinking cokes to their hearts content is also unhealthy.

You are not getting everything for free as many of you think. Unless it is last minute you are paying extra for these hotels. I have checked the differences in price between an AI hotel and other hotels. With the money you save it goes quite a long way if spent properly.

Do not give any any nonsence about Greece becoming expensive. Compared to many European countries it is still cheap. Unless you think we are a third world country.

I have just found a nice all inclusive in cyprus limassol atlantica hotel and gardens 4* all inclusive with firstchoice should cost £2531 but am going to see if we can get it if we cant get fuertaventura club caleta from manchester.
what a headache this is all coming to be.
will let you know how we get on.
The cyprus one has nice flights as well leaving manchester at 8am

Also just found hotel paphos amathus beach which is a 5* plus premier property am def going to try my luck for this one at full board will just need to buy drinks then so not that bad very expensive though so may get told to F$%K off rather bluntly but if you dont ask you dont get thats my motto

i cant believe FChave done this we cancelled after BBCreport but must say didnt want to but having a party of 15 couldnt take the chance and as this week went on and read everyone getting tickets i was very disappointed wasnt going beginning of week in fc shop booked to Jamica and talking about abc lady said yes it was opening thisweek and now they gone and done this i hope you all get a holiday and have a fantastic time charge your batteries ready to take on fc when you get back
