Me too Liz, my husband says i've become some sort of mad woman the last couple of weeks! He thinks we should now just cancel and lose our deposit. I can't decide whether to book something else, stick it out or strangle someone

we want to cancel, ive just spoken with my friends who are coming with us and we are all in agreement. The thing is where do we stand on getting another holiday for the same price on (or around) the same date, without incurring more cost. Ive already been told by FC that they wont pay out to change us that will be out responsibility plus admin costs on top. Are FC reservations open today does anyone know?

Just priced up an all inclusive in fuetueventura and its coming out £1,200 more than we paid for KABC (as we booked on 1st adition brochure last april)

My biggest concern is my children - even if it opens on 24th not sure I want them used as guinea pigs in a new waterpark or running around a complex which may not have had all the "snagging" done. Alternatives disappearing off the website very rapidly. Now looking at Cyprus, Rhodes or possibly Holiday Village in Costa del Sol. More reviews to read.......

your right liz, probably find the kids clubs will have reps who dont know what they are doing, Id also rather the waterslides be up and running a while before we used them, the entertainment staff will have had no time to get their "act" together, we booked this holiday thinking it would have been open a couple of months before we went. I worry that as Kef is now pulled until 13th June, that Kos will follow suit this week (once the supposed building surveyor has visited) which mean we will be the first guests there and I personally do not want to be in that position.

Hi Although we're not due to go until 5th July, we've taken the decision to cancel. I'm not expecting to get my deposit back but I will try. The changes made here and facilities actually available bear hardly any relevance to what they advertised.

Incidentally, I've booked instead to go back to Florida!

according to the "small print" in the back of the brochure........you can change your destination/date etc for just £20 per person. Its only if you wanted your money back, to go with a different tour operator for example, that you would loose your deposit!

what else are first choice going to get rid of before completion of ABC.
They have got rid of the water sports, the pedloes and canoes and mountain bikes are still available up to now,how long for i wonder.
They seem to be getting rid of every thing bit by bit, so we should all expect a letter of explanation some time next week.

Where is this information coming from!! I have just been on the FC website and here is the information on sports activities advertised for Summer 2006

A range of Watersports including Pedaloes*, Canoes*, Water skiing*, Banana boat rides* and Ringos*. Tennis courts, Multi-sports court, Beach Volleyball, Mountain biking (baby seats available), Horse riding (lessons available)*, Paragliding*.

the hotel was downgraded months ago and Horse riding also was cancelled some time ago, even though it is still on the website. Has anyone checked the information before getting mad
This same thing happened the other day when someone stated that the Photos had been removed when they had just been filed properly.

Ive just looked online for this June and next June and both still have ringos etc advertised. I did notice that you can book 10 nights online for next June, so dont know what they were going on about the other day when they said that they were pulling 10 nights as they were not selling as good as 7 - 14 nights hence the reason why the online booking for KABC was not available.

With regards to the watersports being axed this is right. Initially I thought that it wasn't too as it was still saying on the information part. But if you go further ahead and continue as if you are going to book a screen comes up to tell you that the hotel has been downgraded and the horse riding cancelled ( which we were informed about a while back) but there is now a point that no water sports are available!

We're seriously considering our options now!!!!

Hi Careen, so it does!! I did not get this far when i looked. Thanks Do you know when this info changed on the website? as this may constitue a significant change of facilities then anyone wishing to cancel or change could do so without further penalty costs as per ABTA rules.

blimey - lets hope it does, as im looking for anything to get me out of going to Kos right now.

So I expect we will get letters telling us this then this week!

I suppose the reason why there is no facilities anymore is because the beach is so b***dy c**p

Just got through to a human at FC, to try and change to alternate accomodation, but was told they could not handle that, would need to speak to Cust. Services tomorrow - are they stalling for time ? Also, with regard to change, anybody flying from Gatwick on Wed. 24th has had the flight brought forward by 14 hours a month or so ago - this does constitute a major change.

Liz we too had our flight brought forward from 8pm at night to 7am in the morning (wed 14th June) but we all had to sign and agree to this which we did, how I wish we hadnt agreed as this would have enabled us to move.

My understanding is if they make a significant change such as this then they have to offer you either a change or a full refund as well as compensation. I'm not certain about this and will have to check the ABTA rules. Did you get offered any of the above?

i have just emailed FC as i seem to have trouble getting through. hubby sent it b4 i had finished it, i think i will get a response as balance due next week!!

i am rather concerned about my holiday that i have booked and therefore not yet paid my balance due as i have been trying to get in contact by phone all week but keep getting chopped off the line.

a couple of queries

i have had notification via this letter that the kids club is no longer warner branded and horse riding is not available
- this was a major influence to selecting a holiday with first choice, and although unhappy with it, had i not already committed to the holiday whilst paying a deposit, i most probably would have selected another holiday.

secondly i booked this holiday believing it would be 4* as per my brochure, and have just found out that it has been 'downgraded' at 3*, does this change have any reflection to the price i have to yet pay? i do not seem to have an amended balance. i select 4* holidays as i work hard all year and therefore wish to have a decent holiday with a minimum of 4*.

3rdly having seen pictures floating around the internet, (One attached) of the hotel i am due to visit in 8 weeks time, i am not convinced that this hotel will be finished in time or that all the facilities will be available by 28th June. looking at these photos, i do not wish to travel to a building site nor have the facilities that i have paid for to be unavailable.

with these concerns i wish to have some reassurrance from first choice that my holiday will be as described, and therfore will hold my remaining balance until

- I have written assurrance from you that this hotel will be completed to a high standard,

- This balance remaining is correct or needs amending

- all the facilities that have been described are in place.

all this info you have all been given from fc and we havent even recieved a letter from fc telling us that the hotel has been downgraded and we booked in august last year! only info i have had is about the kids club. My daughter assures me that if it isnt going to be re3ady they will have to give us notice as it would cost them a fortune in compensation, and also they are still allowing bookings from thompsons from 24th so it wouldnt be sensible to allow bookings knowing that the hotel would not be complete. there are laws and small print fc would have to be mad or very stupid!!! Im going to stay positive and look forward now. Lets all focus on the idea of having a fantastic holiday and meeting lots of new people.
