Just been informed today that Kosmar Holidays are now NOT flying out of Glasgow Airport to Turkey this summer. It seems that Excel Airline who they use as carriers have pulled out of Glasgow and left us high and dry. Kosmar did offer to fly us from Newcastle or Manchester, but why should we go to another country to fly when we have 2 airports on our doorstep -Glasgow and Edinburgh. We have now had to cancel our holiday and we wished we had taken note of all the stories about Kosmar/Excel before it was too late. We did manage to get booked with another travel company, but we can't go to the apartments that we went to last year (not with Kosmar). we will not go with either again. If I had not noticed that there was no departure or incoming flight for Excell on Glasgow airport's website on monday, I would have been none the wiser until Kosmar saw fit to let us know and we were flying out in just over 7 weeks. But I got in touch with my travel agent and he phoned Kosmar on tuesday and Kosmar e-mailed their response today. If you are booked to fly with both, then you better be quick and get in touch with your travel agent before there is a rush and no seats left on any other planes as July is a nightmare to get Scottish flights.

2. Customers being forced to travel to a different airport of departure than the one they booked
3. A 4 hour flight to Crete becoming a 7 hour ordeal
4. Abysmal customer relations

6. Greek Island hopping
7. No notice changes to flights
8. No notice changes of holiday accommodation to accommodation of a much lesser standard
9. Cancelled flights
10.Boarding the aircraft at one regional airport and collecting passengers at another
Phew ........................ One could go on. Personally I would remove the element of risk and not be seduced by a supposed saving of £90-100! But hey, we are all different and demand different standards I suppose and, its all down to individual choice.
I really do hope you dont come on this Board post holiday and provide an adverse report on your holiday, I really do hope that you are not delayed or have to suffer flight and airport of departure changes and I really do hope that if it all goes "belly up" and you take up a complaint with the organisation in question that you receive just and sympathetic treatment. The great tragedy is that so many others have not been so lucky!

It was I who used the term "worship"!
Using Excel as "means to an end" is a bit on the risky side. I use the Travel Agent and carriers as a means to an end too, but in my case I try to remove the risk of 5 hours travel turning into 18 or 20 hours travel and by not using KOSMAR/Excel I massively reduce the risk of huge drama! Seems a pretty pointless excercise to continually tempt fate if you ask, almost akin to handing a Winchester 73 to an Apache renegade.
"All I said was that up to press I haven't had any problems and have nothing to gripe about". But you did say that you would continue to use them until you did get a raw deal! I only commented that it was a dodgy strategy!
PS my flight's changed again now I have the tickets...now flying two hours before the original time! Today aint over yet Greekofile, anything can happen with Excel flight slots and airfields of departure!

Thing is Craven - it's horses for courses (and sometimes how you view the trials that Kosmar force upon us on occasion). I have done the Bristol - Santorini - Chania flight (although I did suss it out beforehand - the flight time on the website did seem a little TOO long) - but we treated it as our chance to see Santorini without having to go there and pay through the nose. Come on admit it the approach and circling over the caldera made the discomfort worthwhile!!!
I would never extol Kosmar or Excel's virtues (in fact not those of any company, at some point I've been let down one way or another by most), but sometimes it's how you approach the problem which makes all the difference how you deal with it!

Travel agent has confirmed with Kosmar that our flight will be East Mids-Santorini-Chania and we will not be picking up/dropping off any where else. At least we know and are prepared.

"Seeing Santorini", but I have taken a holiday there, why on earth would I want to see it again from the air and then spend over 1 hour cooped up inside an aircraft . Afraid to say it Elentitsa, but I take some delight when visiting places to excercise my 5 senses, 80 minutes trapped inside a grubby fuselage looking out of a porthole whilst someone fills the aircraft with fuel and movers argue with Cabin Crew about baggage and pax loading does not light my fire!

If I have paid for something and I feel I have been let down by the vendor or where I have not had value for money I will let them know and if I dont get satisfaction I will vote with my feet and forever vent my disatisfaction with that organisation.

Personally I am so glad I have paid the extra for peace of mind with a reputable company and a 4 hour flight at most.
