has anyone got a hotel they can review that they've been to in the last two years? If it is one not in our review pages I will be happy to add it.
fiona!
Fiona I'll do the Sheraton in KL and also the Kowloon Shangri-La in HK if you could add them please.
thanks Elaine and Tracy. These should be added today sometime.

if you want to go up the towers, get there early.
the tickets are free, but they are on a 1st come,1st served basis.they go really quickly.
we only managed to go up,because 2 kind australians, gave us 2 spare tickets.
i was really disappointed,when i thought,we couldn't go up,because we were only there,for 1 night,so wouldn't have had, another opportunity.
hope this helps

and was given a ticket to go for the 1030 ascent.I think the ticket office opens at 0830. They give out about 800 tickets every day but there is a huge demand. When I was there it was closed on Mondays. You watch a film show first about the towers being built, then a group of you go up together. You have to go through airport type security first then a fast trip up to the halfway station (the bridge between two towers)you can't go right to the top. You are only allowed to stay 10-15mins minutes then you go back down. If it's a clear day you get great views of Kuala Lumpur.
I have asked for the Renaissance to be added to our reviews. If it is anything like the one we stayed in in Saigon it will be beautiful(

If you can't manage to get tickets for the Petronas Towers there's always the Menara KL you can go up. as its built on a hill its actually higher up than Petronas so affords a great view of the city.

There is the Suria mall directly beneath the Petronas towers where you shop to your hearts content...there are also a number of restaurants with the mall complex and fronting the park at KLCC.
it is on a hill, but there is a free mini-bus,to take you, to the tower.
there are shops,in the base,also a little cinema,showing you how,it was built & also places,to have a drink.
you pay to go,to the top, where you get headphones & as you walk around, the tower, you have a narration, pointing out all the landmarks etc.
you can also have your photo taken, with the petronas towers,in the background.they also put our photo,on our digital camera, for about £1.well worth a visit!
as already has been said,if you manage,to get a ticket, for the petronas tower, you only get, to go to the bridge, halfway up.still a must do,if you go all the way there!
there are plenty of shops,at the bottom.didn't have time,to visit them though!
have a great time

Stayed in the Shangri La Kl , managed to go up both towers. Was at the bottom of the Petronas tower at 8am waiting for tickets but was well worth the wait . The view from the other tower was equally spectacular- anybody had a meal up there? Loved the hotel hope it feels so good this year- food prices weren't bad and loved sitting in the lobby bar. This was 4 years ago and they were just opening the fountain in the lobby. Looking forward to this .
On our visit to Petronas Towers we turned up at 9.30am and managed to get tickets...probably lucky though.
There's a large swimming pool on one of the upper floors with palm trees, gardens, etc. Rooms are quite luxurious and large. My room had windows the full height and width of the room with a fabulous view of the Towers. It was great lying in bed at night seeing it all lit up.
I'd definitely stay there again.

have you any info for around the hotel? thanks maggieomx

Anyway, back to your question. 5 or 10 minute walk to Petronas from the Renaissance passing one or 2 other hotels. Nothing much either side of hotel but opposite is the tourist office all lit up with fairy lights on the trees. But like I said before all of KL is easy to get to due to close proximity to monorail and underground.
