Is K/L really as cheap as I've heard? I don't know anyone who has been, but I hear you can purchase items at really good prices!

Could someone give me some examples please?

Many thanks

Depends on the item and the exchange rate at the time for example digital cameras and ipods were not that cheap this year when I went neither were laptops but I found some bargains with video cameras and computer memory both laptop and desktop (1gb of laptop memory was almost half the price of the uk),
The other thing that was very cheap was eye glasses and the testing was as good if not better than uk high street shops (varifocals with designer frames for £100).
The glasses and video camera were at Sungai Wang and the computer stuff was at Low Yat Plaza (directly behind Sungai Wang).

I have been looking at Air Asia website and the fares for Bangkok to KL are mega cheap - I may look into a short stay in KL next time I visit the Far East, anyone think 3 night would be enough to see all the main sights?

shirleyV,
Three nights should cover it, to take in the major sights and get a feel for the place..although I've spent longer there...its not as frenetic as Bangkok

Thanks Sunbear , looks like a great city , can't decide between there or Pnomh Penh - totally different from each other I know but both are on my long list of must sees.

anybody know if watches are a bargain there?

I got my blue faced Tag from KL about 7 years ago (its still going!!!) and it was about a fiver - very decent quality too.

They aren't as cheap as you can get them in Bangkok but they do seem to be better quality- or they were :D

thanks- I have had quite a few fake Thai watches with mixed results( but mostly good!) This time I'm looking for the real thing. I bought one in Singapore at a great price and wish I'd bought another one. I'm just hoping KL has some good bargains :D

There are some good shops down Bukit Bintang in the shoppping malls- I remember the airport having very good shops too so you may be able to pick some up there too

Have to say I never look at the real things- always far too likely to lose them :P

Or in Central Plaza Mall

I think thats where the Tag shop is if thats what you're after

Watches seem to be about 20% cheaper there just make sure you are buying the real thing.
