At first glance this hotel seems like it is a bit out on its own with nothing close by but as every one has said it is only a 10 minute walk from twin towers and KLCC and only a slightly longer walk to bukit bintang and all of its shopping. Also there is a monorail stop very close by that will take you to the bukit bintag area in about 2 minutes and there is an underground stop close by that will take you to the twin towers in one direction or to the downtown/chinatown area in the other direction. Both the monorail and the underground are very clean and safe and easy to use (actually the most dangerous thing in KL is trying to cross some of the very busy roads as there is a lot of traffic and the many mopeds seem to only take slight notice of traffic lights).
I hope you enjoy your time in KL I know I did (just arrived back from there 2 days ago).
Is K/L really as cheap as I've heard? I don't know anyone who has been, but I hear you can purchase items at really good prices!
The other thing that was very cheap was eye glasses and the testing was as good if not better than uk high street shops (varifocals with designer frames for £100).
The glasses and video camera were at Sungai Wang and the computer stuff was at Low Yat Plaza (directly behind Sungai Wang).
I have been looking at Air Asia website and the fares for Bangkok to KL are mega cheap - I may look into a short stay in KL next time I visit the Far East, anyone think 3 night would be enough to see all the main sights?
Three nights should cover it, to take in the major sights and get a feel for the place..although I've spent longer there...its not as frenetic as Bangkok
Thanks Sunbear , looks like a great city , can't decide between there or Pnomh Penh - totally different from each other I know but both are on my long list of must sees.
anybody know if watches are a bargain there?
They aren't as cheap as you can get them in Bangkok but they do seem to be better quality- or they were
thanks- I have had quite a few fake Thai watches with mixed results( but mostly good!) This time I'm looking for the real thing. I bought one in Singapore at a great price and wish I'd bought another one. I'm just hoping KL has some good bargains
There are some good shops down Bukit Bintang in the shoppping malls- I remember the airport having very good shops too so you may be able to pick some up there too
Or in Central Plaza Mall
Watches seem to be about 20% cheaper there just make sure you are buying the real thing.
thanks Cal and Rick- just the info I was needing!
