Yes Larnaca airport is not good but as for it stopping anyone going back,for sure not me, back again on 11th Sept (Sunday) cattle market day.

It must be a sunday thing.We waited nearly 2 hours for bags on arrival,the message above the carousel said Manchester and London bags came out.Everyone pushing shoving and totally confused and worried about not getting their bags,there must have been 500 people around the small carousel.

Coming home we got through check in fine only to find no seats in a very small departure lounge and masses of people stood around the gate areas in total confusion as the wrong gates were shown on the detarture screens,you couldn't move at one stage around here.Total confusion.

We had a graet holiday and liked Cyprus although we found it far dearer than the Balearics.We would like to go again - perhaps going mid week will be better.

What time did you arrive at Larnaca???.We will be on the Britannia flight from Manchester.BY 343A.Arrival time around 15:00 hrs.

Ok... the airline was Flyjet and was horrible from the moment I got to check in. Was not informed that my morning flight had been changed to an evening flight. when I got to the check in desk at 8am all excited an ready to go, I got told that I had mad a mistake and there was no morning flights by them, tryed showing her the confermation letter which she never even looked at (but she didnt look at me either) I got told to come back later. Once on the flight I thought hooray the bad bits over, how wrong was I, are you ready..... was asked to get out of seat so they could fix it....... told by maintenance man, no movie or radio as they had no headphones....... the inside of the plane was dirty (very)........ watched the steward DROP one of the food trays on the floor and then put it back to serve up......... openly play fighting and being busy with each other rather than answer buzzers....... I wont go on but if I was told I was going to fly anywhere with them again I would cancel.

let me say that flyjet are awful, but the airport services who tried to sort the problem out are great and Olympic made sure I had a great time once I got off that horrible plane.

And yes I am complaining directly to flyjet

Qatarman,Thats the one we were on - take your sense of humour head with you and try to chill in the reclaimation area but its always a worrying time for me waiting for the bags.

i admit personally its not very inviting, but to be honest all i do is get my luggage then im off top my holiday, only there a few hours so doesnt make much of a difference to me.

Working here in Qatar I am used to poor baggage reclaim,try 4 planes arriving at the same time and 2no baggage reclaim belts,total mad house.
We are used to the Sunday Cattle market in Larnaca we used to fly from East Midlands on a Sunday (for the last 8yrs ) had to change to Manchester as the Sunday flight from EMA has been stopped.Dont let it stop you from going back its the best Med Holiday by far.

Got to say that I've been travelling to Larnaca for 16 years and my 30th trip is due in September

I always comment on how great the airport is in comparison to others....especially the Greek Islands (Zante & Crete to name the 2 worst offenders)

I'm sure it's the day you travel that has an affect on your experience of the airport generally. I find Larnaca civilised & very easy in fact it's often better than some UK aiprorts. As for seating in the departure lounge.........there's an abundance far, far more than MOST airports.

totally agree Larnaca airport is very modern compared to some. I would love to be there now.

wayne zab, we must have been on same flight, we also waited nearly 2 hrs for our bags on arrival, and what a nightmare checking in to go home. I have never experienced an airport like it and I felt really claustraphobic with so many people and the heat, thought I would pass out. Also had the wrong gates shown on the screens and hundreds of people moving from one gate to another. Flight was delayed 1 hour, but found out about the plane crash when we arrived at Manchester, all the problems we had didn't matter. We loved Cyprus though and it wouldnt put me off going again, we want to go back next year.

It may be ok compared to some Greek airports but in comparison to the Spanish ones Ive used for the last number of years its very uncivilised.It think Sundays must be the worst day to use it though.Yes your right aboutthe crash issue

The idea was the build a new airport on a different site, can't see what that would achieve.

However the only thing that is concerning, there is a higher volume of traffic arriving in Larnaka each year, numbers are going to rise, and there wont be space for the aircraft to park.

There's not just British Planes landing, they land from all over the world.

Larnaca airport can be rather busy, but on the whole I think it's fine.

Try Reus airport at Salou on the Costa Dorada, it's possibly one of the worst resort airports around. The size of a shoebox, one luggage carousel for 4 flights at the same time and no organisation whatsoever.

Compared to there, Larnaca is fantastic! It would never, ever stop me going to Cyprus...

We have been visting Larnaca airport for the last 9 years,most times arriving on a Sunday afternoon and I have to say I have never had any problems.Okay its a small airport but thats about it and I have never waited more than 1/2 hour to reclaim my luggage then its straight outside to a waiting taxi.
We have travelled to Zante airport and that was carnage! and soooooo slow,men just stood around throughing the suitcases onto the belt one by one,having a chat,then having a fag,put another one on and so on.
To tell you the truth the state of the airport doesn't fase me that much because I know I'm back in Cyprus with all the sun,lovely food,drink and especially the friendly Cypriot people.

been to larnaca just the once and havent had to stay any longer then half hour after getting off plane.

Anyone who thinks Larnaca Airport is a cattle market should try Paphos Airport on wednesdays. ing nightmare!!!

Chris, you said you've only been to Paphos before, did you fly into Larnaca and then transfer???
