Ok, so as we get closer to this years Vegas trip, we're starting to sort our itinerary. This year we are splashing out a bit as we've been saving madly as it may be our last trip to Vegas for a while.
So far we have booked the following - We arrive on a Thursday...

Monday - Dinner at the Top of the World restaurant (Stratosphere)
Tuesday - Pick up car for 3 days - Going shopping at the Outlets today
Wednesday - Jet skiing on Lake Mead
Thursday - Dinner at MiX Restaurant at the top of THEHotel
Friday - Duran Duran in concert at the 'Joint' in Hard Rock hotel
Saturday - Dinner at Le Cirque restaurant in Bellagio followed by going to see 'O'
Wednesday - Dinner at Eiffel Tower restaurant in Paris

Looking good so far!

We will also be going to Mon Ami Gabi, In 'n Out Burger, Maggiano's and our favourite Steakhouse - Gallaghers in NYNY :cheers :D
Show wise we'll probably see Legends, as we haven't been yet, keep meaning to.

Cheers,

TC

Sounds good TC. Just a couple of comments on your itinerary.

Are you aware of http://www.restaurant.com ? You can get a cert there for the Top of the World and Mix restaurants. The code is currently MEAL, but that's just for 50% off. There should be a new one tomorrow (Friday) for 60 or 70% and the 80% code should out some time after the 25th.

Don't know if it's relevant, but Tuesdays at the outlets is Over 50's Perks day where you get and additional 10% discount with valid photo ID. Also sign up as a VIP Shopper on the outlets' websites and you get access to a coupon for a free discount coupon booklet which is normally $5 as well as additional discounts to the ones showing on the site. I once got a 40% coupon for Timberland.

If you sign up to Maggiano's website they send you discounts and I also a free meal on your birthday.

Travelzoo is the best place to get tickets to Legends and they have a good deal with the dinner and show package http://www.travelzoo.com/entertainment/las-vegas/ When we booked through there we got far better seats than we did with Tix4Tonight. They were front row in the centre next to the aisle.

Hi Luci,

With restaurant.com, Do you know if you can use more than one certificate for a meal? The Top of the World one looks appealing if we could use 4 certificates! It doesn't say anything on the page itself about only using one?

Cheers

One certificate per restaurant per month. It's in the T&C's.

Hi guys,

would £500 sterling (spending money) suffice for 5 nights in Vegas. This would have to cover 3 meals and some excursions and shows.

Please can you recommend what I should do?

Thinking of Penn and Teller (but they came over to UK last year - so would it be the same show), Grand Caynon (cheap tour?)

Anything else please, totally Vegas noob here

Thanks TeeCee for your detailed response last month! reading it again now (why again, as I need to get booking excursions!)

So $800 dollars:

$200 Grand Caynon
$80 dollars a day= $400 (I need 3 meals a day)
two shows = $140

=$740

Sound Sensible?

found this:

any good?

For $79, dine at Comme Ça at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas with a 4-course dinner for 2 and a bottle of wine
This meal regularly costs $140
Savor traditional French cuisine prepared with local ingredients
The chic, energetic brasserie is helmed by chef/owner David Myers, who worked at Les Crayères, a 3 Michelin star restaurant in Reims, France
The Las Vegas Review-Journal calls it "a brasserie with a fun, vibrant edge"

I cannot post links but website is travel zoo . com

Update, just went on the restraunt. com website and the offers look great!!! any drawbacks of using sites like this (ie is it better to choose on day) Given I am in Vegas for 5 nights - thinking of getting 3 days worth of Vouchers to reduce costs?

Thoughts anyone?

I think that deal may be the one that has small print saying they expect you to tip on the full price. If, so then not as good a deal as it looks. We don't do fine dining anyway, but I'm sure I hear someone saying it wasn't worth it.

Hi Pebbles, is your comment in respect of the travel zoo I presume (as I edited thread)

So you can vouch for the deals on restraunt.com

e.g. you pay $20 and you get $50 worth of vouchers (is the gratiuity included here?)

I am not a fine diner either, just want so some good value for money food akin to Nandos, Wagamamas, Gorumet Burger, Zizzi standard - nothing extravagant there ;)

Yes, I meant the travelzoo offer. R.com vouchers work out well, but make sure you read the small print.

That last sentence, I have no idea what any of those things are, so I'm sorry I can't comment.

thinking of undertaking the following tasks:

2-Day Las Vegas Hop-on Hop-off Double-Decker Bus Tour £21.25

Waverly's Steak House (located inside Cannery Casino)

Thoughts on above?

How do you plan to get to the Cannery? Are you having a car? It's not on the route of the bus that you mentioned, but you can get there with the normal buses.

We have never bothered with the hop on hop off bus. It's not really our thing.

Wavwerly's is supposed to be very nice, but I've never been.

Hi,

anyone used this site to buy shows?

showslasvegas. com

I am about to purchase Smokey Robinson Show with Human Nature but want to make sure this site is safe? Otherwise, I will just purchase from Viatour.

Thoughts?

It's a good show. It's Smokey Robinson presents Human Nature. It doesn't have him in it. I have no idea about showslasvegas, Luci might know about them. You can get Human Nature tickest from Tix4 tonight when you get there too.

Anyone use the Vegas Power pass - is it worth it?

£63 each and lets you into a number of attractions free.

Your budget is a bit tight so forget fine dining.

A lot depends where you are staying.

Breakfast buffet around $15, lunch $20 and dinner $25-30. That includes soft and hot drinks.

You can get cheaper meals at some of the food courts, eg Subway, Panda Express, Wendy's, McDonald's.

I'm not sure if the r.cm certs would work for you. The $20 for a $50 cert you mention is actually only $8 with the current code which is STEAK. However read the T&C's as you will need to spend $100 to be able to use the $50 cert.

Check http://www.smartervegas.com and http://www.travelzoo.com for show tickets. Human Nature is a very good show and one of the less expensive ones.

Not sure how you are getting to the Cannery or how much the steak house is there. Why do you want to go to that one in particular?

Hi 0

Staying at the New York, New York hotel.

No reason in particular I want to go that steak house - just looking for suggestions. :tup

Gallaghers steakhouse is at NYNY, but it's not cheap. There is Camelot Steakhouse across the road at the Excalibur, but it wasn't as good last time we visited as on previous visits.

The Cortez Room is a good, cheap steakhouse is off strip at the Gold Coast. You can get a free shuttle there from Bill's.
