Now that more ships are based in Europe for the summer it seems probable that more really cheap deals will come on the market, similar to those to be found in the USA. I am not expecting them to drop as low as some do in the States but the early trend this year is encouraging for us bargain hunters.

HI M,

We are on the Constellation round britain, CC at £850 it was the only thing ex uk(no fly) in April worth doing, we were waiting for family health clearance to do this one, If we had been going on our own we would probably have grabbed one of the Transatlantics and done an return flight for another TA later in the year but with NCL keeping the Jade in europe one of the fav choices had gone anyway.

When we booked Cerlebrity had put up the CC prices over £1200(£1025 today) and there is not a lot left, 1is, 3ov,few Balcs/CC,and a few suites at good prices but more than we want to pay CC is batting well above our normal cabin grade anyway..

Our problem for the rest of the year is we want a change of ports(ed up of the med and the baltics) and one trip must be ex uk so that only leaves Norway in the summer, our chosen itinerary has been very popular so prices are still very high, cruise goes final mid April so we shall see what NCL do then, we fancy an AB suite for the 4 of us which will be great but cuurently £1500pp. Just done a price check and they have dropped again, hang on while I do a cabin check and update my spreadsheet..............Done, Only the lower grades and Courtyard/GV down but a tidy $1k(25%) on an II($1395pp) since I first starting watching this one, UK prices are now under £1kpp from over £1400, OV's are almost sold out so there is a big jump in price from the insides to anything else. Will hang on a bit longer.

On a general note,

It is a good sign that Celebrity have been under early price pressure this year, I don't watch P&O prices but I suspect they have loyal following and can hold prices so RCI,Celebrity,NCL,Princess are all fighting for the rest of the ex-uk business , RCI Independance grabbed a big chunk of the passengers early on.
The open jaw cruises always seem to get discounted allthough NCL managed to keep the prices up(20%-30%) this year for their Jade cruises Eastern med, last year they had to drop these a lot.

It will be interesting to see what happens over the summer during the school hols peak season and to the Jade winter cruises, there could be something worth taking and not having to fly to the caribbean this year. If the same capacity remains for 2009 I think we may see similar drops as the "must do" cruisers will not be comming back to these new NCL itineries.

Hope you enjoy you CC cabin it will be our first.

I wonder if any of you bargain spotting folk can help me, I know what we are looking for, so here we go.
We are looking for the best price for a balcony cabin on Jade cruise that leaves Southampton on 13th June, at the moment Vacations to go say $1199 each and I think that is without taxes.
I am searching myself but some help would be really appreciated.

I have also posted this under the NCL Jade topic as not sure which was the right place, mods please feel free to delete the posting that is in the wrong place.

:think Well they both seem to be the right place so I'll leave them both for now! :rofl

Jade June 13th, Tax and fuel are $210pp so add this to any US headline price.

V2G showing $1349 http://www.vacationstogo.com/fastdeal.cfm?deal=12193
you may have a diffent page to me.

If you are looking for cheapest grades then I did notice that on some dates the Jade is now cheaper throught the UK and if that still includes parking a lot cheaper.

This cruise
leadin NCL US is $1558 or an II for $1800 a discount TA price for II is $1395 inc(this seems a lot of discount I wonder if the prices are changing, sometimes NCL US consumer site is a bit(upto 12hr) behind on the pricing.

UK has it for £949 best inside so with a 10% discount and parking(£100) thats £800ish for an II still cheaper US.

Ship is showing loads of availability for most grades balcony down so I would hang on just watch daily for the cabins going. This is just inside final payment now so I expect some price movment downwards, UK pricing is currently best available in catagory and once those top two grades have gone the rest of the catagory will need to drop in price but you get less choice. Keep an eye on US and UK pricing.

Sea princess has had some knocked of it's pricing, doing similar itineries so that should put on some pressure.

My mistake Windjammer I should have said VTG was $1999 for a balcony cabin, so the same page as you had.
When you say that some are cheaper through the Uk do you mean the NCL uk site, and how do you get 10% discount?

Also what is II ? I am a bit new to all this shortening of words, but trying to pick it up.( just noticed this is a cabin type)

I will keep looking, thanks for the tips.

WJ...have you spotted any Norway cruises leaving mid to late July leaving the UK?
Balcony max £1200pp

Windjammer

Enjoy your CC balcony. I particularly liked the breakfast menu although I have found that once I meet my room service attendant in any room they will bring me the breakfast in any case. Talking about the Granola/Mixed berries/yoghurt especially.

I always write on what I want for breakfast even though it is not on the menu and receive it. Same on Cunard!

UK travel agents should be giving about 10% off the NCL uk prices start here for uk prices
https://seaweb.it.ncl.com/sw/ConsumerIndex.do

As for cheaper it is a case of comparing NCL UK with NCL US inc tx,fuel. then consider the discounts, this is where it gets complicated,

NCL UK 10% of the full price should be possible unless it is a special like the £49 2 nighter where there never seems to be any discounts.

NCL US, a on-line agent like http://www.bestpricecruises.com will give about 16% of the commissioned fare which is less than the fare quoted and does not include taxes either

So as an example I am looking at a June cruise on the Jade AB suite
NCL fare is $5199, tax+fuel is $170
BPC fare is $4428, tax+fuel is $170 the non comissioned fare is $190 on all grades(I have a spreadsheet to work this out.) so the residual commisioned fare gets a 16% discount(5199-4428)/(5199-190).

AS it happens it is easyer to just bookmark BPC cruise page they get a feed from NCL for the prices.
you may need to register, try this is a link to the cruise you are looking at.
http://club.bestpricecruises.com/travel/cruise/availability.rvlx?CruiseItineraryID=87569&cruise_adults=2

I just bookmark these and load them up every day to track prices, with a tabbed browser you can track loads of cruises in a couple of minutes.

Now they may not be cheapest but with a single link with upto date pricing that will be close its good enough, once in range then shop around for the best deal

Outside our cruise window, I think there are some 7n that are under your budget but if you are looking at a 12n-14n then nothing yet, its a waiting game.

Keep an eye on Grand princess it is closest in price and ex-uk , there are others that will need flights so they have to reduce a lot to get in under £1200 for balcony.

Why not consider the Jade its a July cruise(most of it) or are you avoiding it because we might be on it :)

The Jade is a bit too early we dont get back from Santorini till the 24th June. I will keep an eye on the Grand
Let me know if you spot anything good when bargain hunting

"We are on the Constellation round britain, CC at £850"

Got my own price wrong it should be £780 not sure where £850 came from too many numbers in my head, I need a cruise.

Some TXT deals not much to report but these have some merit.

Anyone with kids looking for a week away Island Star is now lead in @£309 goes Friday 4th so only as day out of school if they are off next week. I know someone that booked last week and got an outside 3 berth with flight sups and meals for £1050. Escape on the 8th is also leadin at £309.

T.M. is the thomsons expert so might be able to find some codes to go with these for those up north .
6th may 7n @£399 celebration from newcastle and another @£399 in Oct from Harwich

Hi I thinks this looks like a good deal for next year, 10 nights on The Brillance of the seas out of Barcelona 20/03/2009 , Inside Cabin for under £55 a night. . On Thomas Cook Web site. This was the cheapest cabin ,I have paid more for a 10 night hotel stay in Teneriffe(4 *) . I have listed details below as i do not know how to do this link thing. So if i have upset anyone sorry .

We did book a 10 night with CC in Nov this year which was only £970 cant recall who on this site posted the deal, but I have a problem getting time off work ,so Thomas Cook and CC allowed us to Cancel and re book the cruise below .I thought this very good of them as they did not charge any thing to change. So I am now looking for a Cruise in late Aug 2008 as a replacement Whoo Hoo.

Seen the Jade on the 23/08/2008 and looks good at £600 each, out of Barcelona return to Southampton for 10 nights.

Thanks to all the posters who have helped me understand a little more about booking a cruise ,previously I just went down to the local T/A and booked a holiday or a cruise .
Since looking at these pages I have saved so much money and even better I now know what i can get for my hard earned cash.

Thanks Kevin

To add to this, allthough this will work for most links some sites will have session variables or cookies or use link variable that control some of their pages so the links that are in the title bar may not allways work.

Sometimes if you look at the link you can work out one that will work but not allways.

Royal caribbean and Fredolsen are two sites that do this and many other.

If not sure post anyway and some one can sort it out if it does not work.
Very occationaly a site will produce link that will auto login so if you are logged in look out for session info in the link, usualy a string of characters that make no sence for cruise price browsing usualy not a problem.
