She tried to tell him the £714 price on their site was 'cruise only' so it was plus flights, plus fuel surcharge etc which made it almost what we paid and we should be grateful to have booked early. She said we had been able to choose our dining sitting and had a better choice of excursions by booking early. She said they dropped the price to ensure all the cabins were sold as if the ship was half empty some of the excursions might not run through lack of bookings. When he told her we always did our own thing in ports, she was a bit huffy. She implied that we might have missed out on a cruise if we left it to book later, like there was a shortage of cruises. In the end they agreed to differ as she wasn't giving anything away. She said to write in but I don't hold out much hope.
So sorry Maureen. Would definitely write to them though, why else would she ask you to do this? In my experience a well constructed letter in the right hands can go a long way. You may want to consider copying Carnival (the holding group) also. Make sure you quote word for word the brochure stuff about pricing. Give them some idea of what will be acceptable to you, and indicate that the right amount of OBC will do it for you! If you are in habit of using spa's, going to speciality restaurants etc. then free sessions are also worth money to you and cost very little for them. Make it clear you have sailed with other lines and had gone Princess because of other recommendations. They may just decide to do something to "keep you on board" for the future.
