hi dsj 37
we have had some waffle from first choice saying they dont do family rooms and the double rooms are the same, similar to what you've been told , even though they still list family rooms in a new brochure
will probably just have to wait and see but will definately let you know how things go.
Anyone know if the shop in the hotel sells suncream ,is it a similar price over there or is it dearer?
4 weeks , cant wait
how about getting some tee shirts printed so we know who to look for just in case I miss the white speedos
I noticed your post about visas - can you do NO boat trips then without a visa then, I was hoping not to buy one as we are not intending to go that far, but would like an occasional day trip on a boat if available.
Also, we are going to Coral Sea Resort [still being built at moment] five weeks today and I think your hotel is more or less next door?? what is the beach like in that area, is it very stoney?? Is the snorkelling good there?
Can payment for trips and any other hotel extras be done with card or is it all cash?
I am going with thomas cook and i am hoping to go on the cairo trip and i am just tying to budget how much cash to take?
Not long now 20 days to go!!!
Thanks Marg
P.S Hi skully, Spongebob,joe90 and all other going at end of june beginning of july what a party it will be!!!
Any good tips on any cocktails/alcohol/spirits that are worth drinking??
thanks

nine days til.....
blimey has anybody read the most recent review of the lti which was posted by colin in manchester? (in the hotel review section on this site).
it sounds like he had a really crap time. it's not gonna put me off though, as long as we go there with realistic expectations i'm sure we'll be just fine.
and if we have to do a bit of tipping to get a better service then tipping it shall be. by the sounds of it even little tips go a long way in egypt and will keep al of us happy (i hope!!!!)
nic
(Seen the latest review here - not impressed! - hope the jetty opens by next week!).
Sounds like we will be crossing over at the Lti I get there on thursday 23rd june just before you come home (asumming you are going for 2 weeks) we will have to meet and you can let me know all the do's and don'ts around the place.
Yes nice nic I have seen that report!!
Perhaps the person who wrote it could let us know where the bad rooms facing the building site are so we can avoid them.
Thanks Marg
Latest update, following a mix up with two people at First Choice telling us 2 different things, we have now had another email from First Choice telling us that with the room type double +2C superior the guests will receive a family room as per the brochure.
Here's hoping!!
dsj37
still no word on the room front , will have to see what we get when we get there , as long as we have a room ,i am not bothered where i sleep at night ! do the bars have music playing and can you take your own music for them to play ? what time do the pools close for cleaning at nights and what time do they open in the mornings , do they have clorine in them ?
do you have to book the sauna and if so is there a time limit on how long you can stay in ?
same with the gym ?
cheers for the info on room sizes etc dsj37
marg ,kkazz , joe 90 ,sponge bob , i will see you all in one of the bars and the drinks are on me , ha ha
Hi - I have read so many different reviews on junior suites and the ultra all inclusive, but I would really appreciate if anyone who has stayed in a suite could email some photos of the suite to me. Last year we stayed at the Grand Azure in a standard room which was great but this year we have already booked to go again and are keen to upgrade to a junior suite but would really like to see some photos before we make the decision. Also I'd like to know which cluster the suites are located. Anywhere near the waterfalls pool would be fine with us!! If anyone has any photos of suites (or any other parts of the resort) please email to me via PM.
hi guys....dont believe any bad reports about azure. just got back today and it was just amazing you will have a good time. trust me. any questions just ask.
Glad to hear you had a fantastic holiday.
I go on Thursday and really cant wait.
Could you tell me what type of room you stayed in and what it was like - I am staying in a 'superior room' - which i think just means a standard room for 2.
Also, lots of reports on tummy probs - were you ok? I am hoping that these are limited, as the LTI does seem to be a fantastic hotel reading some of the reviews.
Thanks
pleased you had a good time at the lti , is it good to be back ?
just a couple of questions if you don't mind !
pool opening and closing times ?
what time does it get dark over there ?
cheers skully
i too had a superior room and it was wonderful. you just got to trust me. it had a safe fridge freezer, balcony or a terrace with air coditioning and the staff is just lovely. best is to tip a pound to your housemaid which is enough and you will have lovely nice fresh towels everyday and tip him on the very first day.
didnt have no tummy probs and the food is brilliant and the choice is great.
you will have a good time.
the pools are open at 9 in the morning and close at six. the bars open at ten and again close at 6pm. and it gets dark around 8 pm. but the bar at the reception is open all times. each and every pool has its own bar so the bars are never crowded at any times. you normally get served in a min or so. regarding the pool times i did see people enjoying a early morning swim around 7 though.
its a great hotel.
Thanks for reassuring words. Did you upgrade your wristband or not? We are thinking of doing this if it is worth it.
Did you use GB pounds to tip the staff?
Also, has the jetty been fixed?
I am now looking forward to it even more, so thanks for your post!!!
dont even think of upgrading believe me its not worth it and i really mean it. i was thinking of upgrading too and even asked for it at reception when i checked in but the guy said i would have to do it in the morning as mu flight got delayed and we checked in late around twelve at night.
and next day i found out its not worth upgrading at all. yes you can tip in gb pounds and 1 pound is more than enough to tip at any times and you can tip in pound coins too. the only person you need to tip is your housemaid the rest are upto you.
you can tip the waiters at the pool bars if you cant be bothered to go up and get a drink yourself.
you can even tip in dollars or egyptian pounds if you feel like.
they are still fixing the jetty but you can use it but believe me its not that bad as people have left remarks over here about it. the only bad area is about a 2 meter patch but you can still walk over it.
hi rajan87.
really glad you enjoyed it and have now restored my faith in the lti.
was your superior room booked through first choice? this is the type of room which we will be staying in in september. did you say it was just the two of you? we are just 2 adults and no kids so it's likely that we'd be in the same type of room if our circumstances are the same
i agree with you on the upgrade issue - for what's included it just isn't worth it.
nic
did you try the sauna while you were there and if so what is the crack about booking it ?
did you ever eat in the bedouin tent as this looks rather interesting ?
cheers for the info so far !!!!!!!!!
