Hey all - We only take my son's beach towel, for id when all you can see are the hotel's blue towels! The sunbed situation wasn't bad at all when we went in June. We don't get up early on holiday and hubs refuses to get up at the crack of dawn to get a sunbed, but we always managed to get a couple together, or sometimes moved a couple together, any time of the day. We only usually get two sunbeds for the four of us as the kids are mostly in and out of the pool, but I can't really expect my daughter to share one this year (not at 5ft 9!). I think it was a bit more difficult to get parasols last year, but there was a heatwave and even I needed to sit in the shade.
I didn't get to see all of Children's Paradise (not round the big slides anyway ) - there are lots of separate pools with slides, and some pools that run into eachother with slides or waterfalls, rope bridges, a little sandy beach area and pool with slides and toys for the tinies, mini footie pitch and park/play area with swings slides etc.
Lucky macjohnson going on Friday - Have a great hol and let us know what you thought of it when you get back!

ellie-meg and bridd you may well remember that I have always felt from the very day we booked this that they would mess up with the room type as XL just never seemed to have a clue when i rang them about this. I understand the room will prob be fine for us but the point is we paid £400 MORE than we should have and the fact that part was paid in tesco vouchers dosn't help matters regarding getting a refund from them either...I'm sooooo mad right now
Oh dear, I wish the tour operators would get this sorted. They never seem to know what they are selling. The connecting village family rooms are category 5. It's only the sea view version of these that are cat 6. The cat 4, which it sounds like you have been allocated are quite pricey, so you may have the correct one. Please don't let this spoil your holiday. Cat 4 rooms are very nice and they are quite spacious.
Anyway, could you tell me if the beds for kids in the cat4 rooms are very big? On my little map they look like sofas and our 12yr old is tall (5'5")
Unless they have changed them, there are proper beds for four and a fifth can sleep on the sofa, but I think it would need to be a child.
we were in cat 4 room and had 1 giant king size bed and 2 small sofa beds in a separate room that were l shaped, then down some steps in our room was a bed settee
I have had the girl from XL ring me back but only to say their accommodation dept are waiting to hear from Lykia?? and they will sort it out, I did ask how they could give us another room when they are full but she said they get different allocations, does anyone know what this means as she has totally lost me I still can't see how they can change us to a room they don't have available? If they can't "sort it out" I will def be asking for a refund of the difference but somehow I think this will be an awful long battle.....glad XL have pulled out of tesco deals so I can't be tempted to book with them again
as far as im aware each TO gets a certain amount of each room type to sell and maybe some only have a few choices and not all the room types, i know that the dreaded garden rooms are not available with most TO but i sure cosmos have them but not 100% and lykia keep some for direct bookings, so xl should have this interconnecting room allocated for you and if you have the word interconnecting on your invoice then thats what you should get and if you arrive and dont get that then you must get the xl rep to sort that out. hopefully its a mistake with the lykia lady you spoke to and when you get there the correct room will have been allocated to you
Yes i hope it's a mistake too and our invoice def says "interconnecting family room", but the Lykia lady def said we have a cat 4 room and she went on to describe it (one bath, one main door etc) when I tried to explain that we should have the interconnecting room she just kept repeating "we are full". Oh, I haven't a clue with all this room malarky, getting fed up with it all now, just wish we were there Thanks for your advice all the same ellie and bridd. I will let you all know what happens
cat 4 - Village family room - recommended for families with 2 children under the age of 12
cat 5 & 6 - Village connected rooms - recommended for families with 2 children over the age of 12
Nowhere does it describe cat 4 as a connecting room although there are definately 2 rooms involved.
I think I have a fair idea what has happened, when we originally booked our invoice didn't say interconnecting, only that we had a 'family room' so i rang them (XL) back a few times before they actually got around to sending me an invoice with 'interconnecting' on it, now I reckon they have sent the same information off to Lykia saying we had booked a 'family room' so by Lykia standards they have given us what they thought we should have, if XL had sent the info to Lykia saying we had booked 'interconnecting rooms' then I am sure Lykia would have put us in this room type. All very frustrating, this is exactly what I was afraid would happen. Now it will be a long battle with XL I am sure to get the difference in room type refunded to us.
Can I just ask, does the bathroom in this cat 4 room have the 2 shower heads? Just so we can stick 2 of the kids in at the same time as i can imagine it being a bit of a rush now us all wanting to use the bathroom at the same time. Also is there plenty of wardrobe/storage space in this room type? And last but not least, is the balcony very big? (Now that we will only have the one and not two) Thanks
good luck with sorting this out and im sure if you have got the interconnecting room on the invoice then they must admit to their error and refund the difference
Hi folks
They change it from time to time. It's been Efes but last time I was there it was Tuborg. You need to find someone who has been this year.
I think it was Tuborg last year
Thanks folks. I am sure hubby will manage to enjoy it whatever it is.
Hi again, Just an update on our room situation, XL (TO) have said they are going to reimburse us the difference in room price (No one has contacted us about this though, we have had to make countless phone calls to them ourselves this week) and the guy dealing with it is off until next Wed so we can't find out any more details until he is back, typical as we go away on Fri. At least it sounds promising
I think you will have a brilliant time there. You will have plenty of room on the balcony too.
