Hope your son is not in too much pain.

I am sure he will enjoy himself even if he cant go swimming. I bet the reps will make a fuss of himif he goes in the kids club.

Have a great time

Hi Tis, not sure if you will read this before you go... Do you have any freezer bags - the clear ones? If so, you could put one over his hand and keep in place with an elastic band or hair band. It might not look fantastic, but at least if he puts his hand in the sand or water, it will provide a bit of protection. If big enough shouldn't hinder him being able to use it a bit as well. Just make sure the band isn't so tight that it cuts off his circulation!!!! Have a great hol. Louise

PS Just looked at the BBC website and their satellite photo's show no rain from today through to Friday, except tomorrow where it looks as though its on the west of the island!! Wunderground weather shows no rain at all for the rest of the week in Palma, so fingers crossed, the summer's arrived!!

Hi. Is there a tax that we have to pay on entry/departure at Palma airport? Its been 6 years since I went and I vaguely remember some sort of tax. If so, how much is pp and per child please?
Thanks

Hi we are a family of four off to Cala Dor at the end of this month and are staying in the Cala Dor Park Apartments, have looked through several sights now and am getting a bit concerned and the reviews say that its not very nice at all. Has anyone been there recently and is it really that bad? Any advice/info greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone

I think Im going to take the plunge this afternoon and book a week in
Cala Bona, at the Bonaire. I had my mind set on the Louis Phaethon in Cyprus then spotted the Bonaire. Fingers crossed I've made the right choice, will find out on 21st June. :D

Hayley, we were in cala bona at the beginning of may. We visited the bonaire as friends are going there later on in the year.I don't know if you have been there before. We had a good look round and were very impressed. Its great for families with an amazing swimming pool.Just one thing, I found it a bit of a walk into the harbour area where we were staying, I've got a dodgy knee, but that is not a criticism of the hotel. Have a great holiday :sun2 :sun2

Thanks so much for that. We were in Ibiza last year and my daughter had a great time so I'm hoping she'll enjoy the Bonaire. The pool does look fab. Thanks again, I'm counting the days now. :)

Hi megsmum. There a loads of reviews for the 'Bougie' and Sa Coma on this site (and other sites). I think it's the type of place you either love or hate! Me and three friends are going to Sa Coma on Friday for a long weekend :yipee. Hope it's not too quiet.
BTW might get more response if you post your question under one of the Sa Coma topics already running.

Hello Everyone :wave

We are home - actually been back a week :cry but Norton Antivirus had run out and yesterday was the first chance I've had to replace it. Anyway, as you no doubt gathered we got away okay in the end.

Got checked in okay - security a total farce at Newcastle Airport and Departure Lounge a waste of space - slight technical 'problem' with plane (it made a nasty grinding/crunching sound as we pulled back which meant we missed slot and were delayed 30 minutes), turbulance was HORRIFIC - I guess we'd have paid good money for the experience at Alton Towers but the whole experience has left eldest son traumatised.

Arrived half an hour late, got bussed to new terminal and down to baggage reclaim - I have NEVER seen anything like it - it was MOBBED (even a Friday and Saturday night had nothing on this) got to Gate 7 and met Janerbus driver - new roads around airport are a vast improvement and speeded up journey to Cala Bona.

Hotel Moreyo lovely family run hotel, nice and clean (apart from a few ants), we got the rooms we requested so very happy. Have left a review in Hotel Review section if anyone's interested and would happily recommend it to anyone and would be happy to go back again.

Best exchange rate is still PIREO (opposite Shaun's Crazy Corner) where it was either €1.23 or €1.24 elsewhere in the resort it was between €1.21 and €1.21)

Eileen & Pedro at Supermercado C'an Pedro on back road (Na LLambies) sandwiched between the Hotel Atolon annexe and Hotel Temi (opposite Marins Playa Apartments) are a lovely English/Majorcan couple and you're guaranteed a warm welcome. Pedro makes a mean sandwich for only €1.60 (you get choice of 3 buns and various fillings and he wraps them in tin-foil for you) and Eileen's just the best ever - they call themselves our kid's Spanish Grandparents! They also have a book swap service which is great if you're like me and love your books.

Nigel at Lower Hire is great - our mini fridge was there waiting for us upon arrival - I couldn't fault the service at all and would use him again without question and recommend him to anyone.

Got son a special plastic sleeve for his hand from pharmacy and stocked up on Amoxicillen for my Dad (only €2.70 a box over there and you don't need a prescription). Ditched the wheelchair hire option for youngest and we bought a buggy instead as it was cheaper - he was happy as Larry in it and saved my nerves which were rather jangled to say the least!

Weather was VERY hit and miss - it was a case of if the sun was shining then make the most of it as you just didn't know how long it was going to last! We had a fair bit of rain - got caught in one big downpour and arrived at hotel like drowned rats and had a couple of storms but still came home with a nice tan so can't complain too much!

Coming home we got caught in French Air Traffic Control strike (grrrrr) and were an hour late taking off - boarding card told us to be at A11 but when we got there it was for a Gatwick flight and we had to check the board to see we'd been moved to A28 (downstairs). Jet2 decided to put their foot down on the way home and made up half an hour but at a cost as they didn't put air con on - having the rear of the plane filled with hens and stags recovering from alcohol binges - let's just say I couldn't wait to get off the plane and breathe in fresh air (even if it was tinged with the small of aviation fuel).

Where we ate:

THUMBS UP TO...........

*CHEERS BAR - Kev's roast dinners are DEVINE and I have the recipe for his special gravy - yummmm
*ARGOS BAR - nice meals and prices were below most competitors but quality not affected
*WINSTANS
*SNODDYS
*BEACHBOYS
*BURGER KING

THUMBS DOWN TO..........

*LONDON INN - found the meals mediocre and over-priced
*SMUGGLERS BAR - chose a sirloin steak which was fatty and couldn't have told you if I was eating cow, sheep, pig or horse to be honest. Worst meal by far - never went back!

AS FOR CALA BONA..............

Cala Bona pretty much the same as always -
*Albatross Diving has moved from next to Smugglers to on the front of the Moreyo sandwiched btn Xaloc Bar and Argos Bar
*Intercar (next to Supermarket Paula) is now I.Punkt Tours & exchange place
*The launderette opposite the Hotel Atolon has gone
*Tropical Paradise Bar (with the parrots) has moved from small bar under the Hotel Alicia to what was Geranios Bar (next to Bonamar)
*Cafe Torre Mar next to Hotel Cap De Mar closed with sign saying "SE TRASPASA" which I think means something about being transferred????
*Gran Sol is open (at long last) and looks gorgeous - very nice if you're loaded!
*Area to the front of the Bonamar was smelling badly of sewage (again) and there was tell-tale loo roll coming up from drains/manholes! Thought they'd have sorted it by now - it's been going on for at least 4 years!

We walked down to Lidl (far end of Cala Millor) and I'd say if you're going into s/c accomodation you'll save loads by shopping there compared to Bip and Eroski Syp

I think that's it - head's battered, still haven't managed to find the bottom of the wash basket, youngest has had one hospital appointment and another one due next week, his initial splint was removed, replaced and replacement replaced and when it finally comes off he has to have physio and on top of all that I've now got the hassle of a new kitchen and new central heating system to contend with - I could do with another holiday!

Hello!

I've just joined the forum and thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm Janine, and I'm from Devon.

I love Mallorca, and am off to Cala d'Or in just over two weeks' time for what will be my fourth visit.

In previous years, we've stayed at Puerto del Sol, but we didn't enjoy it there so much last year and so this year we're booked into a private apartment on the El Puerto II development. Hopefully it's going to be as lovely as it looks on their advert!
