Yes thomas cook have there own check in desks, and if I remember correctly they are on the first floor.

Just wondering is there a benefit cosmetic counter in T1??
Thomas Cook check-in has always been at the far left of the 1st floor in T1 - you can use any TCX desk for your flight and they usually open check-in early for their flights so you can get rid of your bags and be off for a mooch round the shops before the queue gets too big. We'll be there the first Saturday of the Easter school holidays and planning on arriving 3 hours before the flight to allow for the anticipated horrendous queue at security Was in T1 the first day of Easter hols last year and spent 45 minutes in the queue for security!onetruenutta wrote:this year we are with TCX and back in T1, are they now thomas cooks check in desks since the merger, and is it there we check in for our hols in june? can anyone also tell me what floor in T1?
Not sure about Benefit - but the Alpha shop (airside) has a good range of top brand products.jaynesastar wrote:Just wondering is there a benefit cosmetic counter in T1??
ahhh thanks for your reply hun, I dont usually venture to T1 but because im going on my holidays and im going out of T1 I wanted to know as my make up is in crumbs. Ill just have to see
Thanks cyberspacekadette, would you or anyone happen to know where would be the best place for the minibus to drop us off for the TCX check in desks, there are 14 of us in total with at least the same number of cases so we dont want to walk to far before we check in.
TCX use check-in desks 1-13 in Terminal 1. If you follow the signs for T1 departures, park immediately on the left when you get to the terminal building and go through the first door. The check-in desks are just to your left when you go in. That's about as close as you can get now. I'm sure the minibus driver will know where to go.

Thanks Dazbo5, you lot do a great job on here, keep up the good work!
Last year when I returned from Rimini, with 4 bottles of aftershave from duty free, there are some aftershaves sold in foreign airports which you just dont get here
My return flight was from Manchester to glasgow, had to take the 4 bottles aftershave as hand lugage, no real problem with customs quick check of receipt and bag was still sealed, and I was allowed to continue
Has anyone else had anything else similar, have you been refused, or just allowed to continue
What you've experienced is the standard procedure. If you are transitting, you can take liquids with you providing that they are in a sealed duty free bag and you have the receipt (not in the bag!) ready for inspection. If the bag isn't sealed / you can't provide the receipt, duty free will be confiscated regardless of what it is. Before the procedue was established a few months after the hightened security was initiated (September 2006), any liquid wasn't permitted through security checkpoints. This included items purchased in duty free. A common sense approached was eventually introduced, hence the current procedures. Many people at the time had liquids / duty free confiscated when transitting. I had a 0/5 L bottle of wine confiscated which was part of the meal onboard our Air France flight, with Air France clearly on the label when catching my connecting flight from Mauritius to Manachester via Paris. It was nonsense at the time but things are better now.

Can anyone confirm how complete the renovations are in T1 departures ?
The last time I went through (not long ago), things were still under construction. I think things are supposed to be finished by the end of this month, but I can't see it. The food hall is still upstairs in T1 departures.

cheers Darren
We will have the same problem as mentioned above coming into Manchester Airport from Puerto Plata Dom. Rep.Term 2 then we have to go through security in Term 3 for our Flybe flight to Exeter. We will have duty free in hand luggage with us (perfume/aftershave) as we wont have enough time to visit duty free before boarding only have 2 1/2 between flights. I know for a fact Puerto Plata duty free do not seal their carrier bags will this be a problem for us when trying to get through security.
Any feedback will be greatful.
Angie.
If bags aren't sealed, you could well run in to problems when trying to take liquids through security. I would be surprised if they didn't confiscate them. This is especially so at Manchester when you'll be transitting land-side; not staying air-side. Because the bags aren't sealed, you could easily swap the liquids for something that shouldn't be there, and say it's what it's supposed to be backed up with the receipt. I'm not suggesting you'd do that, but that's where the security staff will be coming from. I would get everything on your outbound flight if you can so you can pack everything in your suitcase for your return journey. I wouldn't take the risk personally.

Thanks for that Darren.
Fogot to say could we still get our duty free cigarettes on board FC/TOM flight and get them through security in our hand luggage as FC/TOM have good deals on board their flights.
Thanks once again.
Angie.
You're fine with cigarettes, just remember your limits. It's only liquids you'll have problems with. It's £30 for 400 at the moment so not bad at all. We found some cheaper deals in Kenya recently though; £21 for 400 in Mombasa Airport (not that I smoke!) so it might be worth checking out the airport before you get on your flight.
Darren
Ok will keep that in mind.
