The letter arrived 2 weeks ago so all in all that's 3 weeks notice. Hopefully someone will be able to report back quite soon because I think the first UK flights out to Bourgas start tomorrow, so with a little luck someone will be able to check the situation out and let you know. I really hope everything goes to plan, the only other thing you might do is phone the hotel direct and try to establish whether they are open for business or not.

Hi bectrum, I will certainly be reporting back about Mena palace when I get back on the 4th June. As you will notice reading around this forum things are sounding a bit dodgy in Sunny beach, if all the posts are correct.
I shall try and get on a computer while I am out there and report in.
2 weeks 2 days to go.

we booked for the mena palace last year but hotel was not finished so balkan transferd us to the globus brill hotel internet access?. the building work will go on till june when only work on the inside of hotels will carry on so they say last year around the mena & trakia plaza it was like a building site glad i was not staying near them. sorry for this info but i think you should know.as there was alot of work around this hotel last year it should be ok now. : hope you have a brill holiday sunny beach is a great place.

I have just rang Balkan Holidays again to ask about the Mena Palace and general building work in Sunny Beach. They have assured me again that Hotel Mena Palace was completed before the beginning of 05.
They have also said that building work all over Sunny Beach will cease on the 15th May (this Sunday)

Perhaps we should cease speculating about the building work in this resort until we receive reports and reviews from members who have visited this season. As there appears to be a lot of "when I was there last Year" or "I have read somewhere but can't remember where" etc etc.
I am sure we won't have long to wait until we have the first, first hand reports.

having a great time here in sunny beach we think it's brill.
Booking for next year as soon as we are back.
Mena palace is a great hotel, the rooms are massive and very clean. The pool is nice but the hotel is very busy so not many sun beds left after 9.30am. I am posting this from Mena Palace they have just put in 8 computers in the reception area and it's only 5levs for the hour BARGIN!!
Not had any trouble with building works it's not as bad has i thought, even though alot of hotels are going up you don't hear anything. The Iberostar is far from finished, i would say at least another 5months work left on it but the main bit is done. Rate at the min is anything from 2.70 to 2.80. weather been hot but had some rain but still got the tan!
we are back on the 23rd so will give a report on the hotel and sunny beach then.

been back for 5 hours and i am already looking at the prices for mena Palace for next year!
Had a great time and would tell anyone to stop at this hotel.
Also the manager is great to talk to and she told me about rooms/apartments on the top floor of the mena palace that you can hire direct. she took me up and they are sooooooooooo nice, they sleep 4 - 6 people and are very big with a massive bath and double balcony.
They are around £700 for 2 weeks per room but you have to book with the hotel (i have the numbers and stuff). All you need to do is get your own flight.
anyway will post a hotel review in next few days only i am out this weekend for my 30th birthday so may be in a state!

hi has anyone who been to mena palace needed a cot our tour operator told us we should take our own travel cot but this will be included in our luggage allowance which is a big chunk when you dont have allowance foe an infant in the first place.
nickylist will you be able to pm me the phone number for the mena palace i might ring them direct & see if i can request one myself tour operators arent very helpful
im really looking forward to going now after reading comments & hotel reviews we go on 25th july from teeside for 2 weeks

Hi Jan I took a 10 month old baby with us to Mena palace when we went on the 28th May. I requested a cot when I booked the accommodation. Sure enough it was in my room when we got there. A brand new travel cot.
Try and contact the hotel yourself I believe Nickylist has the phone number, sure she will let you have it.
The management at the hotel are great (and all the staff for that matter) I am sure they will help you out. I did have to pay for the cot, Can't remember how much as I paid for my safety deposit box at the same time. But I'm sure it wasn't a lot.

I was really impressed with the room only rate you were given for the Mena Palace. What sort of dates did it cover
