We were in Mexico first two weeks in Sept last year. The rain is of the short sharp kind - after 10 mins you wouldn't have known it had been raining. Nobody even got up off their sunbeds!
It is hurricane season then. Just caught the tail end of one (Gustav I think) last year. The sea was very rough for a couple of days but no other problems.

The first time we went to Mexico we went in November and the weather was lovely, a bit of rain in the evening but it dried up as soon as it had started.

The second time we went first 2 weeks in September and it was too hot for us, check out the temperatures fo August.

first time we stayed in Iberostar Toucan, it was great

second time we stayed in Riu Palace Mexico in Playacar, it was fabulous

We've been twice in August. It's very hot, and when the rain comes down ,the heavens open but its only for a short while & everything is bone dry within minutes. It's also very humid at that time of year.

We have booked for Cancun in October is the weather similar to September ?

Crockett - don't forget they are used to having hurricanes in Mexico. All the hotels are geared up for it.

We have been to Cancun twice and Playa once, in July/August and we have been (I suppose) extremely lucky we were not hit by any bad weather, we are once again booked to Cancun at end of August, and cannot wait, fantastic place, Cancun, wherever, you will love it. Great people, that is what takes us back there every time.

We are going to Rivera Maya on the 9th of August for 2 weeks, never been before, but I do know it will be hot and humid!!!
