aiuk,
Welcome onboard
It's too early to be 100% sure as yet, but flights are normally operated by the big Airbus'; A330-200 or A300B4-605R. I'll know for sure in May. The A332 is a super airframe, but I wouldn't get too excited about MON's interior.

We are flying out to Preveza on Sunday August 9th 2009 and returning on August 23rd. This is of course with Monarch. What aircraft will we be on and will it be worth booking extra leg room, if so what seats should I request? This is a holiday to celebrate a birthday that ends with an '0' !!! so I was contemplating booking an airport lounge at Manchester, does anyone know how to get the best price for this and also what to expect as we have never booked one before, but have persuaded Hubby to push the boat out this year!!!!
Thanks in anticipation

Welcome onboard
Your flight numbers are MON5642/3, and are operated by an Airbus A300B4-605R. You'll find aircraft details on our dedicated What Aircraft? thread and over the pages of this thread. Seating is personal preference. Extra legroom seats are nice if you think you'll benefit from the extra room and are located at rows 9 and 31 (you can't request specific seats other then extra legroom, they'll be allocate for you). Refer to the dedicated Manchester Airport thread regarding airport lounges. You'll not find it any cheaper than advertised really (Servisair lounge T1: £17.95). Lounges provide a relaxed atmosphere to wait in before your flight along with newspapers, internet acces, snacks and refreshments.

I requested an aisle seat and was told unless a meal was booked all seats are pre-allocated, so again no way would they budge!
Oh and no IFE even though the flight was over 4 hours, so not very happy
I understand that on 7/3/09 Monarch flight 4502 from Manchester to Goa went via Larnaca (where it was on the tarmac for an hour for fuel & the passengers couldn't get off) instead of Bahrain - allegedly due to the fact that Bahrain is closed on a Sunday for a few weeks for runway repairs - do you have any sources that can tell you how long this change will be in place?
Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.
Regards
Hemingway.
Monarch flights LGW to ACE as its easier for me. 1. Can anyone tell me what type of plane I am going to be on ZB238 @ 11am
And do I need to inform First Choice I wont be on the Flight from BHX but still want to return on the the same flight ?

Generally as I understand it, if you dont use your outbound flight, the inward one is automatically cancelled. you would ned to contact them and explain your reasons for not using your package flights. you may even find that your whole boking may be cancelled if you dont get on the flight because as far as they would be concerned you arent going to need a hotel if your not there.
Best let them know as they will be able to give you your options.
hope you get it sorted

I just rang Monarch to check which seats we had been allocated, and lo and behold, although they wouldn't tell me exactly which seats (in case of a last moment air craft change??!!) they have allocated us a 2 at the back of the plane in the 2-3-2 arrangement.
I know I've read on here before that they aren't extra leg room, but the Monarch Customer Service Advisor assured me that the pitch for those seats was 34" ? I will be extremely interested to see exactly how much room we get.
How do they exactly measure the seat pitch? I also asked about water on a 10.5 hours flight, and you have to pay for all of it, which I thought was a bit tight.
Seat Pitch Is Measured From One Seat To The Exact Same Place On The Seat Infront/Behind.
If You Have Payed For Extra Legroom, The I Would Not Be Classing These As Extra Legroom Seats

I'm looking to book flights newcastle to sanford aug 29th - MON365 - can you tell me what plane will be used for this flight. Also what is the difference between economy and premium.
tonaldsmum,
Hi we're flying to tenerife in may on flight number ZB 564 wondered what info anybody had about these flights and what Monarch are like to fly on as never flown with them before. Thanks in advance.
if you back read through this thread you will find the usual mixed comments the same as you would see from any airline, mon are probably the oldest of our charter and budget companies the seem to make a small profit every year, the flight crews i have found to be well trained and pleasant enough

Also, they say that pre-booked seats are normally allocated towards the front of the aircraft, are these seats more roomy or are they all the same. Years ago we went with Monarch and had seats at the back and they were nice and roomy, Do they operate extra leg room?
Sorry to ask silly questions but there was not much information available.
Barb
Ps. We opted out of the meals as we are flying back during the night, so would that affect where we sit?
There Is No Such Thing As A Silly Question When You Do Not Know The Answers,
Baggage Allowance Is 20kg's A Bag, Have A Look At Monarch Website Here
The Seats Are The Same Where Ever They Put You On The Aircraft. Extra Legroom Seats Will Be Available, They Will Be At The Exits.
If There Is Anything Else, Just Ask

We normally fly with Thomson or First Choice and go exactly what their allowances are but lately all airlines seem to be adding extra's on. do Monarch allow hand luggage on top like thomson i,e 5 kg each passenger on top of 20 kg hold baggage?
Another question, do MOnarch sell duty free on board?
Thanks.
Barb
If You Are On A Monarch Charter (Flight Number Starting With MON) Then It Is 20kg Including The 5kg Hand Baggage, Info Here
If You Are On A Scheduled Flight (Flight Number Starting With ZB) Then Is One Piece Of Hand Baggage Max Weight 10Kg.
It Sould State This Somewhere On Your Ticket.
And Yes Monarch Sell Duty Free Onboard

And Yes Monarch Sell Duty Free Onboard
I think actually that depends on the destination. You will certainly see a "gift trolley" wheeled around but not necessarily a duty free one. If you are going to Europe and expecting to buy cigarettes on board you will be disappointed.
