thanks for that,

Hi Steview,
I'm looking for some advice! Our flight tickets state LATEST check-in time is 2hrs before flight time. Do we need to arrive more than 2hrs before departure for a short haul flight? I didn't think check-in desks open before this time! I am 1 of a party of 12 travelling on flight no. ZB 38 LUTON-MAHON on 31.07.09.
I guess the earlier we arrive, the better our chances are of sitting together. Monarch don't allow online check-in for groups of more than 10, so assumed our chances of sitting together to be very slim. (We haven't pre-booked seats, as the extra cost for us would be £180 return)
My question is, how early should we get there? Thanks in advance for any advice offered!
2 hours before your scheduled departure time is the recommended check-in time for short - mid haul flights. 3 hours for long haul. Check-in desks normally open 3 - 4 hours before, but there's no real need to get there that early. As you say though, the earlier you get there, the more un-allocated seats there are (subject to the number that have checked-in online etc) so the greater the chance of your party being sat together. Most people arrive to check-in for their flights around 2 hours before so you might want to get there a little earlier to see if you can be seated together.

WOW! I was just about to sign off, thank you for your rapid response. I'm VERY impressed!
I had no idea that short haul check-in desks opened more than 2 hours before departure time. With such a large group, it may well be worth us arriving sooner. We've already booked transport to the airport, but will now see if we can leave a bit earlier and try to beat the rush!
Many thanks for your reply, it's greatly appreciated.

We are due to fly out on 3rd Augst 07.30 to Dalaman from manchester - flight no MON5620 Return from Dalaman on 18th flight no MON7409. Can you give me any info on type of plane, possible films showing etc. Also I can't find the return flight showing on website. Have they changed the flight time?
thanks for all your help
to the forum!
Both of your flights will be operated by an A300B4-605R. You can find more information about this in the What Aircraft? guide
In-flight entertainment information for July and August can be found here
Without looking too closely at your return flight, you may not see the information for it on the website because it may either be fully sold or a charter for another company.
Thank you for your WELCOME to the site and all the info
I suppose this question is directly aimed at party_boy (being an insider), but obviously welcome any other opinions too...
Over the last couple of years it is clear that the charter airlines have been improving their long haul product - usually by increasing seat pitch and offering better in-flight entertainment (with enhancements such as AVOD etc), particularly the "premium" sector.
Does anybody know whether Monarch have any plans to "catch-up" with the two other big charter companies, namely Thomson and Thomas Cook - both of whom offer between 3 & 4 inches extra legroom in their premium cabin?
This doesn't relate to economy so much as only Thomson seem to be differentiating their product by offering 33 inches as standard (which is only one inch less than Monarch's premium seating).
I'd be interested to hear whether people think that has any influence over their choice of holiday airline?
This is relevant for me as I am currently researching a trip to Florida for next year and am exploring all avenues including premium economy on scheduled airlines which do not appear to be much more expensive.
Cheers all.
PE
There are no plans to catch-up that I know of, not until the 787's get delivered (whenever that maybe).

Based on recent news that may be quite a while off...
Thanks for your as-ever speedy reply Daz
Hi all! Traveling to luton on sunday for my 7 am flight to tenerife. Was just wondering whether or not i should leave earlier than usual due to this congestion which is building up at the airport because of the crazy new 'drop off zone' scheme?
Monarch's A330s do more short haul flights than long haul, so improving their 'long haul' product is also taking away seats and therefore revenue from their short/mid haul programme. Thomson and Thomas Cook's long haul aircraft are almost entirely dedicated to long haul services, with the exception of the odd weekly Dalaman or Sharm el Sheikh flight.

Hi, as you probably know now im flying on ZB894 this Sunday - cant wait!!! anyway, was just wondering whther anyone knew the aircraft registration yet? And which flight will the plane operate the night before, is it the larnaca flight? Many thanks,
Nick you have got me curious now.. why would you want to know the reg and which was its previous flight?..
It's too early to give you the registration, it could be any one of 3 or 4 aircraft at the moment. I'll see if I can establish it for you tomorrow evening. It'll probably be one of G-OZBE/G/O/I/, coming in from Dalaman, Turkey (MON3892/3).

Some like to know where the flight is coming in from to check for delays. It's something I routinely do so I know what to expect at the airport. Some aircraft have IFE, some don't so I suspect the registration is wanted because of that.

Hi, please can someone in the known confirm that the 05/08/09 MON1860 and the 12/08/09 MON1861 (MAN-RMF-MAN) will be operated by a 727-200?
