:think so WHERE does all the cr*p go??? It says:
vacuums and compresses all the dirt, dust and fluff into neat little bales which you just drop into the bin.
.....does your carpet end up looking like a corn field that has been harvested - with all little 'bales' around the bedroom floor waiting for you to load up? :rofl

I'm just really impressed that you read lots of reviews Glynis and then you actually buy something based on what you have read. I also read lots of reviews get all confused, fail to take notes or take them in such a way that when I get to the shop they have little meaning and then end up buying something I like the look of or worse still something that is the so called offer of the week as there is normally a reason for that !

The other thing I do is buy the newest version of whatever hs conked (is that a word?) hence I am on my third Dyson. If they are that good why am I on my third as I had a Hoover that lasted 15 years when I first got married,

My current project is to get something called a 'smart' tv for the bedroom, I have once again read loads of reviews and currently seem to be verging towards a Samsung that I like due to it having a natty stand.

I hope you and the new vac have many happy years cleaning together.

:rofl I am now the proud owner of my first top of the range Dyson after my dear son blew up my beloved 20 year old Sebo trying to hoover water from the back of his car :banghead:

£279 I might add too and it doesn't feel anything like as well made as it's german replacement . Ok it's nothing like my mums monster dyson that I always called a bucket of poo and would never be as stupid to purchase myself unless hell froze over but It's lightweight and glides around dancing on a ball thing . I have to say it feels very cheap and plasticy and I can't see it lasting 20 years . should of listened to my own advice and purchased another Sebo . Dont know what happened there, must of been the 20% off deal dyson are currently doing to trade in your old model :rofl

Meerkat hates my Dyson. It is rather heavy and cumbersome but I love it as it does a good job of hoovering up bird feathers and various other things the cats bring in. ;)

When I got my first Dyson I so loved it :rofl I used to take it all over the house it was never away from my side the place had never been so clean. Quite why the novelty of a Hoover where you can actually see the dirt :yikes at all times appealed I will never know. I think I was mesmerised by its pretty colours. Sad really. Just warning you Lyn mine only ever last about four years, but they will have brought out a new one in another pretty colour by then to fool us we are getting something different.

I think Lyn's lighter ball one might be better, although I am thinking about getting a little handheld Vax, I think it was, I saw on Amazon to save me lugging the dyson up the stairs..not good at my age..
Reply
but will a little hand held Vax be any good at hoovering spilt coco pops or corn flakes???

Do they still make them Aquavax things that you could use to clean your carpet too? I had one years back and it was a proper good hoover.

I love my dyson. Ive had it since I got married and it does get used regularly especially now we have cats and carpets (as opposed to no pets and laminate floor!). The only reason I got it in the first place was because it was green and purple ;)
Reply
mine is a boring yellow and battleship grey. I love purple and have many things that are purple.

Are Dysons so expensive because you dont need hooverbags???
Reply
Just think though, because there's no bags in a Dyson, all those Cocoa Pops, Cornflakes and feathers you hoover up will make a lovely pattern flying round the body of the hoover......... :rofl

Possibly as that must save money over the years and I guess they are sort of trendy or maybe were trendy I guess, if a household appliance can be said to be trendy.

No men on this thread talking about hoovering then :rofl

We've just got one of the ball dysons and I think it's much lighter and easier to manoeuvre. I hate vacuuming actually I hate housework full stop. so vacuuming is never going to be a pleasure but it's definitely quicker with this one.

I can't see it lasting years but perhaps if I could get away with only using it once a month or so it might just last lol

I'm on my 4th Dyson now.
First one was the DC1 (yellow & grey) then I had two DC7's in turquoise blue/grey, one for downstairs and one for upstairs, and now I'm on model number DC 33 - back to yellow and grey.
I absolutely detest this latest model for doing the stairs down.

A few years ago I had a very bad 'frozen shoulder' and it's never been the same since - the Dyson boasts about having good suction, but -

If I park the Dyson at the bottom of the stairs, the extension hose/wand only JUST reaches the top of the stairs and the extension wand is all filmsy plastic on this latest model - and it really hurts my shoulder because I'm fighting the 'pull' of the hose - if I let it go, the hose would just recoil and fly back to the machine.
It's strong...too blinkin strong for me to handle with the extension hose/brushes.

:rofl We must have similar thought patterns Betts as that's exactly what I wondered. The 'muck' goes into two little side compartments that are in a plastic casing, you just lift this out and empty it. They are only small compartments so you do need to empty regularly, but it's no big deal as it's very light and easy to manoeuvre

Glynis - I have an older Gtech model and the handle comes off mine to hoover the stairs!

I broke my Virgin status (Virgin owner that is ) last year and got a Dyson Stubburn and love it, good for puddy hair - and was really shocked at the stuff that came out my carpet, even after I vacced it up with the old old - would not look back now.

This one doesn't Denny - but luckily I don't have stairs lol. Are you pleased with yours?

Carpet was fitted today - at last - after carpet fitter forgot the grippers! Tut. Hovered up the little bits no problem, the room looks lovely but now I'm a bag of nerves just waiting for the first 'spill'. We always have an Indian curry on a Friday night as well :yikes :yikes Am going to surround hubby in plastic sheeting ;)
