Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.

Hi everyone,

This is my first post so if this question has been asked already and I couldn't see it - I am sorry.

I was just wondering, I have noticed in some of the discussions some people mentioning that flight MYT055 goes from Glasgow via Belfast to Sanford. Is this still the case? I am flying out in September 2007.

Also, what type of plane will it be and has anyone flown this route recently? Any comments??

Thanks

MYT055 is currently being serviced with a Boeing 767-31K. I beleive the flight does operated out/inbound via Belfast.

We're looking to book to fly from Gatwick to Toronto and have a choice of which seats we would like. Can anyone recommend the best seats to choose for 2 adults flying MyTravel Airbus 330?

Any help asap would be appreciated as booking it this weekend.
Many thanks

misssupermonty,

If you got 10 replies, you'd probably get 10 different opinions. The 'best' seat on an aircraft is personal preference. It really depends what you want. For outright comfort, the Premier Gold cabin has the most room and is the quietest part of the aircraft being up front, but thats at a premium. To avoid the sensation of flight, the best place is around the wing area (the aircraft centre of gravity). You feel the aircraft moving around more towards the extremities such as the rear. All the seats are pretty much the same on MYT's A332's, they don't vary that much. The last 8 rows are the exception where the fuselage starts to narrow, some like the pairs of seats. Personally, I prefer a window seat either just in front or behind the wing to watch the aircraft systems in operation, but thats just me!

Thanks Darren. I get very nervous flying so think it would be best to choose a seat near the wing. Was going to go for the pair seats near the rear but have heard many times like you said it can be noisier and more prone to feel all the bumps etc. Think I'll try and guess the seats nearest the wing.

Thanks

misssupermonty,

no need to guess, you can view a seating plan here. Wing seats are between rows 15 and 29 (they are big wings in the A332!). I've sat in row 22, which is a little too central-wing for me, but you'll be fine anywhere around there.

Thanks Darren for your help. I shall prob sit around seats 17 or 18. Hopefully won't get so nervous then as it's the bumps etc which frighten me the most and the noise of the engines as they change once finished climbing. Im prob stupid I know but I can't help it.

Thanks

HIYA DAZBO, JUST GOT HOME FROM MY TRIP TO FLORIDA, AND I THOUGHT I WOULD LET YOU KNOW THAT I WAS LUCKY, AND MY FLIGHT WAS ON THE AIRBUS A332. SO I DID GET THE SEAT BACK SCREENS. I HAVENT HAD A CHANCE TO LOOK THROUGH THE REST OF THE FORUM YET (ONLY GOT IN THIS MORNING AND I'M STILL VERY TIRED), BUT FOR MY FLIGHT NUMBER MYT067 (OUTBOUND) AND MYT068 (INBOUND), MYTRAVEL SEEM TO BE USING THE AIRBUS. I THINK THAT MAYBE, THEY USE IT FOR THE SUMMER SEASON. ALSO AS A LITTLE NOTE, I DONT KNOW IF ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE USED THE EARLY CHECK-IN THAT MYTRAVEL OFFER AT ONLY $10 A CASE (THIS CAN BE FOUND IN CARRIER DRIVE, JUST OFF INTERNATIONAL DRIVE), BUT I CAN SAY FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, IT IS WORTH EVERY CENT. WE (MY PARTY) DID THIS, AND CHECKED OUR CASES IN AT 7.30am SATURDAY MORNING (OUR FLIGHT WASN'T UNTIL 5.40pm IN THE AFTERNOON), WHICH MEANT WE JUST WENT BACK TO OUR HOTEL, WITH NO WORRIES ABOUT HAVING TO GET UP THE AIRPORT AND CHECK THE CASES IN, SO WHEN WE GOT UP TO THE AIRPORT (WHERE THE QUEUE WAS PRETTY LONG AT CHECK-IN) ALL WE HAD TO DO WAS JUST GO STRAIGHT THROUGH TO THE DEPARTURES LOUNGE. ANYWAY, THANKS FOR LOOKING FOR ME, BEFORE I WENT, TO FIND OUT WHAT PLANE I WOULD BE ON.

ALL THE BEST

honkytonk,

Airbus A330-243.

SCUD,

Thanks for letting us know how you got on, sounds like you had a good flight and holiday. I'm glad you got the A332 in the end, they're much nicer than their 763's. I hope you enjoyed the flight cameras.

This is my first post on here and can i say this is a fantastic Forum. I travel from Manchester to palma on flight MYT295, and return to Manchester on flight MYT296. Could you please let me know if my plane is an A330-300, ive been onto the ringway reports website and on 1st of May it shows as OY-VKH for both flight numbers. I always thought that the A330-300 were for the Scandinavian flights.

dannyrobson,

MYT have been using the 767's predominantly on MYT295/6. The A333 has joined the UK fleet for the summer from My Travel Denmark. ACARS logs confirms they used OY-VKH on 1st May. However, since then, they have been using their 767-31K's; 8th May G-SMTJ, 15th May G-DAJC and 22nd May G-SJMC. You're more likely to be on the 767 than the A333.

i noticed that one of the the registrations was an A321, i hate small planes for some reason i have a thing about wide bodied aircraft. Do you know if the A330-200 are being used for any european routes this summer?

Thanks for your help!

dannyrobson,

Sorry, that was a typo. It should have been G-SMJC NOT G-SMTJ. I'm sure the A332's will be used on some high density european hotspts, I'm not sure where though.

Boeing 767-300 = 763, its just the shorthand.
