d521,

Rather than reply on two threads, I'll reply here since your questions are regarding MYT.

A seating plan is linked in my post to honkytonk. There aren't really any 'best' seats as its personal preference. If you are travelling as a couple, you may want to consider the last 8 rows and the pairs of seats. You can't pre-book seat numbers with MYT, but if you arrive at check-in early, you should be able to request them if they haven't already been assigned.

dont suppose you know what the entratainment systems like on those aircraft. I wont have to stretch my neck to see a central screen lol.

IFE is provided via seat back screens operated by touchscreen. If you look on page 3 of this thread, I have some screen shots and there's more info on what to expect (scroll towards the bottom of the page).

Have a great time,

Hello.

I've booked a late deal through Thomas Cook and the flights are with My Travel International.

The email confirmation states that "LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE FOR SUNDEAL HOLIDAYS IS 15 KGS HOLD LUGGAGE". There was no option to upgrade to 20 KG of hold luggage when paying for the holiday.

My question is whether My Travel will really try to impose the 15KG limit at the check in, or will they just assume everyone on the flight gets the normal 20KG allowance?

Thank you.

Hi Random Number - i cant speak for mytravel specificaly but the last couple of times we have flown (and more so since the new November regs) the airlines were really strict on ensuring we had 20 kilo's each and any extra would have to be paid for - they wouldnt even let us combine across the booking :!: ... so much so that my brother had to go back to the car to get a hold all and transfer some stuff into a seperate bag  .... this was with BMI Baby out of East Mids but i can tell you we were by no means the only people emptying cases ....it was happening at quite a few of the check in desks.... and when we got on the plane it was no where near full  !!!!...i'd ring and check with mytravel or just stick to 15k....

Random Number,

The 15kg luggage allowance for last minute Sun Deals has been around for a few years and is standard I'm afraid. It was introduced to try and discourage last minute bookings. Thomas Cooks standard luggage allowance is now a measly 15kg without paying £25+ to increase it to 20kg which is a scanderlous in my opinion and the reason I will no travel with TCX anymore. I suspect MYT will go that way after the merger which is a shame. You may get away with 10% over your limit, but after that, you run the risk of being charged, regardless of the aircraft being full or not.

hae a great holiday,

Thank you for the reply Darren.

That's a shame. I had a similar situation a while back when I booked a late deal (I think I was flying with Excel). When I queried it with the airline they said that all passengers actually get 20KG as standard and that was what happened when we flew.

However when I went to the MY Travel website I could se that they do mention the 15KG limit for Sundeals, although I was hoping that was an empty threat.

What annoys me about this is that now you can't have any liquids in your hand luggage you have to put more weight into your hold luggage. I'm a bloke and I still end up packing sun tan lotion, after sun, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, shaving gel, aftershave, toothpaste, insect repellent etc. and I'm sure that all weighs more than my clothes!

andy1975,

The A321-200's don't have seat back IFE, only their larger sister (A332).
IFE is provided via overhead drop down LCD panels similar to this:
