Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.
Hi

It has been mentioned that all My Travel flights will be Thomas cook flights, how can you find out what plane you will be on MY Travel or Thomas cook plane, we are flying to Sanya next October.

Thanks

SKCI,

TCX / MYT are merging to become Thomas Cook Group in November. The aircraft from both fleets will be intrgrated and take on the Thomas Cook livery. Both airlines currently use Airbus A330-243's with a similar specification for long haul flights. MYT also have 2x Boeing 767-31K/ER's. However, the 767's are unlikely to be used on the Sanya flights given the distances involved. It'll be the A332's.

Hi,

Been reading some reviews on MyTravel and I feel so nervous now as I am flying with them next Sunday to Las Vegas :( I've read lots of bad things about being cramped etc and bad food...

Anyway if you can give me a bit of nice happy information about the following flight numbers I'd really appreciate it! I've tried clicking on some seating plans in earlier posts but I just get some foreign page with no image?

Man - Vegas MYT073
Vegas - Man MYT034

We have already paid £70 each for extra leg room so im hoping it's not going to be to bad!
TIA

debbles2,

It's the transition from summer to winter schedules so I can't say 100% as yet what they'll be using during winter. It's likely to be an Airbus A330-243. I can confirm it after 1st November if you remeind me.

Sandimary,

MYT (Denmark) have removed the seating plans for some reason so the links aren't working. The aircraft you'll be on is an Airbus A330-243 which are very nice and configured 3-3-3 for the most part. They are very similar to Thomas Cooks, seating plan here. I've flown with MYT on there A332's on 3 occasions and I've always found them ok. They lag behind the comfort of First Choice in terms of seat pitch (30" compared to 33"), but I'm sure your flights will be fine.

goa1551,

I have it on good authority that the Goa flights ( MYT067/8 ) are operated with the 767's. I'll be able to confirm it after 1st November when the winter shedule kicks it. There was rumor of the 767's leaving the fleet at the end of the summer 2007 season but that doesn't seem to be the case.

We are traveling to Lanzarote from BHX on 22/11. We booked the whole deal online thru the Airtours website, 4 adults , 1 child.

We wanted to book extra leg room seats for 2 members of the party but weren't given the option, I called before confirming the booking and was told I could call Pre-Travel Services to arrange this after we had booked so went ahead and confirmed everything online to save myself an additional £60 in booking fees that I would have to pay over the phone.

Anyway I called the Pre Travel people and they have said that because we have a child in our booking we cannot book any extra leg room seats at all - the guy I spoke to seemed a little hesitant and unsure when I questioned this and said although there were ELR seats available the only way to book these was to cancel the whole booking and rebook as 2 adults and 2 adults + 1. The the 2 alone could book ELR seats.
Surely this cant be right????

Can anyone give me any advice on what to do, or is it best to just turn up at the airport early and hope for the best :?

Thanks

msc1977,

Sounds about right to me. Passengers under the age of 16 I think it is can't sit in emergency exit rows as they have the responcibility of opening exits in case of emergency. As you are all on the same booking, they try and keep everone together, ie not split you up. It's a question of how important the extra legroom seats are to those who want them. If they are wanted, then you'll have no choice but to cancel and rebook. It's a lot of hassle though. If they aren't that important, then I'd leave things as they are. ACE is only 4 hours away so not the longest of flights.

Darren - many thanks for your reply, even if you did tell me everything i didint want to hear!!! :)
Unfortunately we are travelling with a 6ft 4, 16 stone version of Victor Meldrew but as we travel in 4 weeks the rebooking thing simply isnt an option so he's just going to have to suffer!
Just out of interest if we get to check in early enough do you know if they will sell extra leg room seats there if they are avaialble and if so would they split us up then if we agree to it?

thanks

msc1977,

It's a big 'if' for if there are any seats available but you can only ask. I'd get to check-in nice and early and see what they can do for you. Given the person who wants the seat, they should try and accommodate you best they can.

Have a great holiday (lucky things escpaing the cold!!)

Hi there,

A Review

I flew with My Travel from Glasgow to Sanford and back again a few weeks ago.

It was on the Boeing, which had quite an old-fashioned cheap looking interior (even in Premair Gold), the cabin was very dirty and looked like it hadn't been hoovered and there was food stuck down sides of seats etc...

The staff were not friendly or helpful on the outgoing flight but were good on return journey. The entertainment was a disgrace, hand-held DVD type players which pre-loaded films, cartoons and music videos. Even with the volume turned up full your couldn't hear anything and it was very annoying having to sit them on your table, there was no room for your meal trays etc.... On the return journey, there was an announcment stating there was no headsets available, I think you had to purchase these in Economy but they were free in Premair Gold and on the outbound trip we were not asked to keep them. Only one member of our party had kept them and they were given the hand-held DVD player again, it had exactly the same entertaiment as the outgoing journey!!!! I had previously asked My Travel about this and they told me it would be same films etc as shown on Airbus, this was not the case. The upgrade to Premair Gold was a waste of time and we mainly did it for entertainment due to it being a long flight. Not worth the money.

I wouldn't recommend My Travel to anyone in the future if they are stuck on the Boeing.

We flew the Glasgow to Sanford Route in July and had no problems either way. Made sure the children had plenty of things to do and they were fine both ways and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. I've always flown Airtours when going to Florida and it was the best flight I'd ever done.

I have booked extra leg room seats on a My travel flight next month. Received the tickets yesterday but there is no mention of the extra leg room seats. Rang customer services, the operator was a bit vague, said it doesn't show on the tickets but not to worry it will be on the system, we will be allocated the seats when we check in. When I flew with First Choice earlier in the year the extra leg room seats was stated on the ticket.
Just wondered if any one else have booked these seats and did it show on their flight ticket.
