Anyone know when the new tunnel currently under construction between Dalaman/Olu Deniz area will be finished?
Any info would be grateful.
l think u mean the Göcek tunel it hasnt finished yet they still doing the works. the tunel will be probably completed soon

They are aiming for end of April 2006. You never know, they might just surprise us all and actually complete it in time this year! 
hi, ive read that they are building a tunnel through the montains ,which should make the transfer times quicker,it is supposed to open spring this year, any body know if there is any truth in this

There has been a delay on construction so it may not be open for spring. And if any one tells you its going to cut twenty minutes of the transfer time they are a plonker because it only takes 8 minutes to drive over the top.
ive just read that the tunnel could be delayed by upto 10 months,it seems that they have encountered,soft clay ,and they are at present 340metres, out of 960 metres,through, and it seems unlikely that it will be open this year,which is a shame as the mountain road is quite frightning,to travel on,as some of the turkish driving leaves a lot to be desired,they overtake when it is impossible to see what is coming

HelloWe passed the tunnel on My 8th May it looks no were near finished
The rep did state that the new termanal at Dalaman opens in June
That will be a godsend she said 21 new check-in-desks

As Celine writes the tunnel is a long way from finished. They have hit some unexpected problem (soft earth !!) and they are having to do a complete rethink. Some talk of maybe September.

Hi Margaret Yes i would say roughty Sept or maybe even later
When we passed it was a mess you could see in the begining off the tunnel
And also see in the end but nothing in between
Does'nt even looks like its been dug out yet
Lots of work going on but a long way to go yet
I saw it last week and still many concrete lorries and construction gear about... the bore looked very small, is the tunnel 2 way or just a single route through??

the gocek tunnel will not be open until at least september if we are lucky
as for the terminal i don't think it will be a june opening unless its 2007

Just reading Fethiye Times...
The Goeck Tunnel may open in 2 Weeks, this is the Tunnel which connects
the Dalaman airport side to the Fethiye side (including Olu Deniz, Hisaronu etc) to save going over the mountain.
It is supposed to cut 15 to 20 mins off the journey and calm fears of shear drop mountain roads.

What a Godsend that will be, I don't think I remember ever being so scared in my entire life as I was going over that mountain road!
We went from Dalaman to Olu Deniz last week and the taxi driver told us it will be at least September.
