Have you not read melhaigh's thread colleen , she is very pleased with the information found here , OK there have been some negative comments , but although we love Goa , you have to say it isn't going to be everyones ideal destination . I still think the positives outweigh the negatives .
Also most who go South rarely make complaints here.
A friend of mine got back yesterday and did comment that Baga was dirtier and there was more rip-off tactics in place but neither of this bothered him (he's a bit of a minger anyway ).
Personally I wouldn't stay in CCB area, I've had enough and I dont travel all that distance to put up with rubbish, pollution, undue hassle and so on... I like to chill out completely.
The trick is to do more research and PM if in doubt.

I have got to agree. There are still alot of places in Goa where you don't get the rubbish, hassle etc.Continue to come to Goa but avoid the Baga,Candolim Calangute belt then they may do something about the area.

I know this is a discussion forum and its all about opinions, and thats great, cos its a great help when youre planning your holiday and looking for advise and recommendations. But there is open discussion and then there is just downright moaning. Have you noticed that certain members only post negative thoughts and very very seldom put anything positive about Goa and why they are still going is beyond me!!!
Unfortunately people will whinge and thats it, end of story. If we were getting 200 rupees to the pound and taxi ride was 1 rupee for a 50 mile journey they would still moan, we just need to accept that i'm afraid
I know but I am looking forward to seeing all my happy smiling friends on 17 March
We have been going to Goa every other year since 1997, and things have changed loads, somethings for the better ( better toilets for a start) and some things for the worse. But I think it is what you make it !!
Our family has an apartment in Costa Blanca, we've had it about 10 years, and when we first bought that, it was very quiet, now there is development everywhere. But again it has it's plus points ( lots of lovely restaurants to choose from, shops closer by etc ) and it's down sides ( much busier, busier roads and maybe not quite as picturesque as it used to be. )
The whole world is changing, including here !! we just have to learn to live with it and enjoy ourselves regardless !!! Life is too short to moan !!
The last 3 times we have been, we have said maybe we won't come back as it doesn't quite have all the charm it did the first time, and maybe we should try somewhere new, but we kept going back and have just booked for Jan 09.
Roll on the 3rd of Jan
There are still magic places in goa. You just have to explore a little.
Hi colleen we went for the first time in january to the south loved it so much as soon as we came home book for a month in december, Dont think we found anything to complain about as i was all clued up thanks to everyone on this forum. Even been told were to go for a good cup of coffee which is very important to us as it all we drink So all i can say is we are very very happy with goa.
what we want to hear on the forum I love goa and I dont care what anyone has to say I will be going back I can tell you that for sure ........I think we will try down south in 2009 ...as we are booked already for march .and november ....anyone ready to sing ........always look on the bright side of life ......dodododododod...
Brill GGl thats
trying to look on the bright side but holy cow we having earth quakes down here lol
Quite right Colleen, I know where I would rather be - cold, damp Manchester which is now having earthquakes or sat on a Goan Beach with a nice cold Kingfisher with Honeybee chaser. No competition.
I've not been on here very long & We only went to Goa for the first time last March - We went to the South & loved every minute of it, so much so, we are going back to the South on March 6th & we've booked again for late November/early December 2008 - On our 1st trip we spent a day at Fort Aguada but I much preferred the beaches near Betalbatim, Benaulim & Cavelossim - could tell that Colva was more of an Indian tourist resort though!
Hello H/W its good to hear you liked goa ..someday we too hope to go down south it sounds lovely ...colleen
I've been mostly in the north but am looking for down south next time as I did used to prefer it, just that i met some really nice long stayers in Candolim and is great to see them each time I go.
colleen, things will definately be doom and gloom at the beginning of April, after we have been there, there will be no honey bee, no breezers, no vodka left in the whole of goa !! hahhaaaaaaaa
No honeybee!!!!!
I know this is slightly off topic but it is related to both honeybee and doom and gloom. When I was there in December I developed an infection on my tongue which the doc put down to something I had been eating or drinking. When I went back in Feb it came back as soon as I drank my favourite tipple honeybee. As a result I had to stop the honeybee and switch to vodka and tonic. Disaster . Love honeybee and suffered great torment sitting watching others partake of it when I couldn't. Might have to test it again when I go in March though
Luckily I also enjoy a vodka with diet coke or even a gin and tonic, so I will be able to change drinks if any problems occur
