Just a quick answer to your questions

* Where are the best holiday venues for viewing properties.

Depends what you're looking for... Calangute you'll probably get the widest choice, lots and lots of apartments for sale and a few places to contact like Homes and Estates etc...

* Any suggestions for good Estate Agents/Developers?

* Do we need visas for the holiday?
You do require a visa, there are 6 month, 1 year and 5 year tourist visas avilable, although much harder to get the ones above 6 months, the 6 month one costs around £30, or at least it used to

* Do we have to buy a property before we apply for Permanent Res?
You have to be in Goa for OVER six months (in one financial year I think) so you have to convince the nice guy/girl at the visa place in London to give you a 1 year one, (say you're buying property and you need to be in the country for more than 183? (or something like that) days....

* What is involved in P.R. application? Where do we get it?
Don't know.... P.R.?

* Can you work part/full time? Do you need a Work Permit?
You can, but you'll need a work permit, although I'm sure there's lots of people who still do without one.

* If so, how do you get one?
Work permit can be obtained from the visa place in London (High commission of India), I THINK you might have to have an offer of a job by a company in India (but not sure)

Hi, my wife has a thing about vacinations - meaning she doesn't believe in them!

Can anybody who is actually living in Goa give us an idea of what you really need? If I was to take all the health warnings seriously I don't think that I would ever get out of my front door!

What if you want to buy in Goa with a Goan resident, does that cut out a lot of hassle/red tape?

Vegasone, in a word yes, buying with a Goan/Indian partner makes things a lot easier, if you have the right parner.

although I didn't buy in the end I found
this company to be up front with the potential problems of buying in Goa.
this company had some good deals but told me there were no problems with buying in Goa.

Hi there,

I have been watching the site with some interest for a while.

Anne and I are in the process of buying an apartment at the Little Baga development in Arpora.

I am interested in speaking to anybody else who has dealings with the developer "Blue Beach Holiday Homes" and the agents "Harlequinn Property".

I am told that all the apartments are now sold, but if anybody is thinking of buying here contact me for some info if you want.

I hope someone can help us! We have only just found this website, and we are travelling to Goa in 2 weeks, we have bought a small apartment and we are going over to furnish it. We are looking for reasonably priced furniture please can anyone recommend shops etc for us, thankyou.

Does anyone how furniture withstands the monsoon season? We have heard all sorts of horror stories that everything will be ruined when we return after the monsoon, we hope this is not true.

We are excited to be buying in Goa at Calangute at Colonia De Braganza for a 1 bed apart closing in December 2006. We have been offered a nothing to do deal by the hotel owners where they pay us an amount and we do nothing. Question - can we take their stirling offer home or legally can they send us the money to the UK? I guess I can ask them this direct but it is early stages yet and we havent decided if we will rent out ourselves as the apt is central and well situated for rental. Any advice welcome please. to be honest if you have purchased the property correctly then you should no the answer,have you set up bank accounts in goa? do you have an accountant there ? or do you have residency?if you dont have residency then you should have a business account and should have a ltd company set up,also before you handed over any money it should have been put into business account in full which will then get you a certificate its similar to the uk really all monies for a business which is what you should have should go through this account and is taxable if you are letting in the uk then if the money doesnt go into goa then they wont know so you will be ok

Thankyou both for replying. Carol I like your idea better if it is possible to bring home money in cash from hotel payment for rental. Then I could exchange Indian currency in the UK and bank it, no?
As this is a personal purchase I would have hoped to not open a business account at all. Stuart

You cant take rupees into or out of india but you will change rupees in goa easily.so put that in your pocket and go home.

yes there is always that but if someone else is managing it for you you might have problems keeping track of when its occupied but carol will no best i reckon
