Hi,

I am planning to go to Parga for my 50th birthday which is not until begining of July 2012 a long way off i know, i would like to be there on my actual birthday but i keep reading reviews saying how busy it is in July/August, could someone tell me if it would make any difference going the last two weeks of June or last week of June first week of July instead of the first two weeks of July, I would be willing to to miss being there on my birthday i it means it won't be so packed everywhere.
Hope this makes sense.

Many thanks

The last week of June first week of July won't be too bad and will not be over run by the Italians, it is mainly August that they invade Parga although there are a few who arrive a little earlier or later.

Have a great time :tup

I'd agree with Graham, those two weeks are a great time to be in Parga, population and weatherwise

was in parga this year and on the 20th june we had torrential and thats putting it lightly, rain thunder and lightening and wind it was unbelievable, roofs were leaking in the shops, it was really bad

The exception rather than the rule! in general it's a good time to be in Parga (though some would say that it's great to be there permanently!)

Good to see you stranger :D how is life treating you out in lovely Parga?

Kelvin,
if you're out & about in Parga today you need a good old English brolly! Just had a look at the seafront, not a soul to be seen, but I know where I would prefer to be, regards

With the Taverna now closed, Stefanos and Michael use the space to prepare new nets. They'll be ready to catch the fresh fish you will be eating next summer, the Red Snappers bream and Lobsters (I hear they're a favourite with Norwegians) and the rest.
Bob, yes you're right its been a wet week so far! and Graham, It's going well mate absolutely NO regrets

Hello new to this board
Thinking of visiting Parga for the first time in June after many years of holidays in Peloponese.Terra Verde Apts have caught our eye so if anyone has any information or can recommend similar would be much appreciated. We are a couple in 40/50's and don't mind walking.

Hello Fogbag and welcome to HT

The Terra Verde Apts look lovely and being new have some excellent reports, they are located slightly out of the way at the top / back of Parga above Valtos Beach on the road that would lead to the village of Anthousa.

You would have a 5-10 minute stroll down to the castle or about a 10-15 minute walk to Valtos beach and a 20-25 minute stroll down to the harbour.

We always stay at and can highly recommend The Villa Andreas, from an earlier post -

You could take a look at the Villa Andreas which is located about a 10-15 minute stroll from the resort harbour area.
This is the website for Bettina and Thassos the owners of the property who you can book directly with
http://www.synthesistravel.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2&Itemid=27&lang=en-GB

The property is also available via First Choice http://www.firstchoice.co.uk/holidays/parga-holidays/parga/villa-andreas-studios

The propert is VERY well maintained and Bettina is always around to help you in any way, there is also a small pool and bar area with some lovely Tavernas (Yannis & Perivoli) located just a few minutes away.
If you wanted more info you can contact Bettina via the Synthesis website and ask any questions.

You can find a couple of reviews HERE and also resort reviews HERE

Also take a look at some of my pictures of Parga to get a feel of what to expect

Few weeks time flying into Corfu - and hopefully straight across to Paxos....visit to anti Paxos...and thinking of getting ferry from Paxos to Parga. Never even considered Parga before so short synopsis from someone would be WONDERFUL! ;) Is it relatively easy to get accommodation once there...as we're just backpacking around.

Probably back to Corfu for few days before flying home. Did Corfu as a package holiday...27 years ago? :D

We've 'done' Kephalonia/Zakynthos already...but any other smaller islands you suggest would be wonderful to check out.

Ah...we're there for 2 and half weeks.

Hi Betty
Parga is lovely and accomodation will be easy to find - what sort of price range and I could make a few suggestions if you like
We were there for 3 weeks last year as eldest had her appx out on day 8!
Parga is a very pretty bustling town built around a bay and overlooked by a castle
Town beach is rocky but there are sand beaces either side - valtos is walkable but a bit of a trek in the heat ! I did it early morning a few times when the girls were still asleep. There are also water taxis / regular taxis
Good restaurants and bars - typical greek and cosmopoliton and anywhere in between !
Highly recommend it - hope to return next year

OO thanks for your reply Lallygirl ;) Do you normally 'package' holiday there or get accommodation online before you go? Not sure what the 'average' price is for accommodation - mid range? Nothing fancy but also not a hostel with shared facilities :yikes Just basic, clean with own bathroom really. Not really fussed if it's room in hotel, B&b, or studio type. Would really appreciate it if you could point me in some direction.

:yikes OMG re daughter and her appendix! Where was the nearest hospital she had to go to?

A mere 60 kms away :( Especially as we had only gone there to rule it out and I had left youngest behind on her own !
we stayed at the Villa Andreas , you can book via synthesis travel , they are the same people and it was amazing. Much much better than the official rating and they looked after us so well. Will definatly go back its 10 mins from the beach / town and very quiet at night. Hugely recommended - if you have a spare hour read my review!
The Alfa is opposite , higher star rating and very nice
The Acrothea is out of town - up the hill with views to die for - went and had a look on one of my early morning walks
The Achilleas is right on the small town beach and seems nice , used the loos and they have a fab bar up in the cliffs with a very chilled out atmosphere
Just in case you think I am stuck on the letter A I would also suggest you look at the dracos ( a bit further out 15mins walk or so or the Hotel Sol which is one of the few 5*
Hope this helps

:yikes OMG Lallygirl - what a nightmare! What were the ages of your daughters?

Many thanks for all the info ;) Off to do some googling ;) . Any idea what 'going rate' is for middle of road accommodation per night? :cry we've been thoroughly spoilt by excellent prices and accommodation when we do our long haul holidays to Cambodia/ Thailand/India. We normally 'grab' just a week now in Greece or Turkey - and then do a 'package' for ease but as we're going for just over two weeks this time thought we'd fall back on island hopping. Could you please put the link to your review here? :tup

Would agree with Lally about the Villa Andreas, that is where we always stay and Bettina will look after you very will indeed.

My links above will take you to Synthesis travel and also some of my pictures from Parga and surrounding area.
