Hello
Probabably a daft question here but whats new !
Really really fancy Parga next year but can only find flights from Gatwick or Manchester which I don't fancy ( simply because of distance). Have looked everywhere I can think of but am I missing something?
Live in S. Wales so Birmingham or Heathrow would be fine
Cardiff and Bristol even better :)
Do I have to bite the bullet and travel ( am we there yet ad inf !!) or reconsider
Thanks
Lally

Hi Lally

Yes flights to Parga (Preveza Airport) are only available from Gatwick and Manchester.
You have another option and that is to fly in to Corfu and get the ferry, this takes a bit longer and is slighly more involved, this topic will give you a bit more info on this - http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=45894&hilit=parga+corfu

Hi, after reading all the positive comments on this thread I am hoping to visit Parga for the first time next June. However, I am struggling finding anywhere that provides accommodation for 2 adults and 3 children. We would like to stay somewhere central near all the ammenities but not where it is really noisy. We do like walking but our youngest will be 4 so he might not be up for a big hike everyday. I think that we would like to stay in self catering but am open to any suggestions that would make a good, stress-free holiday.

I thought that the Valtos Studies opposite Valtos beach looked lovely but as far as I could tell it only accommodated 3 people.

I would really appreciate any advice from those who have been to Parga. Thanks in advance, everyone seems so nice and helpful on this site.

Hi welcome to HT

You could take a look at the Villa Andreas which is located about a 10-15 minute stroll from the resort harbour area.
This is the website for Bettina and Thassos the owners of the property who you can book directly with
http://www.synthesistravel.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2&Itemid=27&lang=en-GB

The property is also available via First Choice http://www.firstchoice.co.uk/holidays/parga-holidays/parga/villa-andreas-studios

The propert is VERY well maintained and Bettina is always around to help you in any way, there is also a small pool and bar area with some lovely Tavernas (Yannis & Perivoli) located just a few minutes away.
If you wanted more info you can contact Bettina via the Synthesis website and ask any questions.

If you want any further info from anybody here on HT just ask :tup

Thanks for this information Graham, I will get in touch with the owners. I notice that the maisonettes are for 4, however, we are a family of 5, maybe they would take 5? - I'll ask.

Is Villa Andreas anywhere near a beach? We wouldn't want to go every day as we like to see things during the day but would be nice if there was one within walking distance.

What nationalities are there in June?

In your experience in general is it cheaper to book direct with owners and then flights independently rather than a package holiday with one of the big firms?

Sorry for all these questions, we haven't been abroad since 2004 so want to make sure that it is a success. I really appreciate your help.

Hi

I think they can fit an extra single bed / cot if required.
Is Villa Andreas anywhere near a beach?

Yes, there is a small pebble beach 5-10 minute down the road (Golfo Beach Taverna is very nice ) and then 5 minutes further on is a nice sandy beach, both easily accessible.
What nationalities are there in June

A mix of nationalities, the Italians haven't arrived in force yet and there will be a few Brits (NOT rowdy lager lout types) some Germans and also a good many others.

They have just recently started direct sell in conjunction with FC, previously the were sold through Libra only but Libra has pulled out of this area.
Check the cost for booking both ways for the best deal, remember if not using a package you will have to add on transfers to Parga from Preveza, again the owners can arrange this if required.

I have various pictures of Parga that might help you decide -

Good photos, Graham They brought back many memories of my trips to Parga.

Incidentally, I read madeleineruby's post as "pickling your brains again" which was worrying. Too late for mine, I'm afraid.

I must just point out that the video clips were taken just as Greece won the Euro 2004 football and it was all just good natured and a one off, it was all peace and quiet the next day.

RP are they pickled in Mythos :glynis

Probably. I see that Mythos even has its own Facebook page now (with a LOT of members).

Fantastic photos Graham - made me decide its Parga for me next year !
However I can't decide between Villa Andreas or Valtos Beach hotel. It will be me and 2 teenage girls , like the beach but don't love it, don't mind a walk into town and enjoy a good meal and a jug of wine. Youngest will dive 2/3 times. Any thoughts?

Same 'wants' out of a holiday as me, except my kids are a lot younger (will be 4, 7 and 10 by next June).

Sorry to ask more questions Graham (or anyone else) but we have had a little re-think and we quite fancy a villa with a private pool but we are struggling getting one which will accommodate 5. Any ideas or could you point me in the right direction? Many, many thanks.
