Make sure you call in at the distillery shop on the steps. A great experience.

You will certainly get told a good story, me thinks the old boy samples a lot of his liquids

First post so not sure if doing this the right way, but I will learn!!
We have booked Parga for June and I am trying to be very brave, but in all honesty, what chance is there of coming across snakes if we keep to the main pathways. Sorry to be such a whimp.
Grateful for any replies. Thanks

Hi Jay

I am sure you will love Parga, Villa Petros is located a short way out of the resort centre in a lovely rural and peaceful setting.

As for the snakes, oh dear, the chance of coming across them in Parga I am afraid is next to none existent :tup
Yes there are snakes but they will be long gone before you get near them, unless of course you start poking in holes in tree roots or walls etc, so don't be doing that.

When we go to Parga we walk miles using various local routes and tracks that go in to the countryside and have never seen a snake.

Don't worry about snakes just enjoy your holiday, try and get out a bit and perhaps go on the small trolley train (arrive early as it is busy) that take you up to Ali Pasha's castle, use the small water taxis and go to Valtos and Lichnos beach.

The Scorpions might be a problem though :yikes only kidding :rofl

Thank you for putting my mind at ease. Didn't want to be looking where to put my feet all the time. I am so looking forward to going, it is our first time on the mainland. Thanks again.

The most likely place you will see a snake is a squashed one on the road! Parga is lovely, relax and have a good time, you are unlikely to see a snake.

Thank you. When we went to Crete a couple of years ago we saw a couple, both run over, although I felt it was a shame it made it easier for me to walk past them. However when we hired a villa in Florida once, we found one happily swimming in our pool one morning, it was removed quickly by villa company -needless to say I stayed well away!!

In Parga we are hoping to have a walk through the olive trees to Lichnos beach if that is possible, as our accommodation I believe is towards that end of the town. I just decided we would make a bit of noise as we do this so they can all scuttle out of our way!

Thank you for your reply.

If it's any further comfort for you, I have been going to Parga for 25 years (thius year will be the 26th) and I have not yet seen a snake anywhere, despite walking to all the local beaches by varying routes.
We are giving serious consideration to moving there permanently next Spring anyway and I don't know any of the locals who have ever mentioned snakes
Wherever you stay in Parga nowhere is too far away and I am sure you'll have a great time

:) You will love Parga. We are back for the third time this year, so relative newcomers!
We have booked our own flights and accommodation, so are looking for the best way to travel from Prevetsa airport to Parga town. Does anyone have sugestions, please? Synthesis Travel may be able to help but it is always good to have other options.
We arrive from Manchester on 1st June, for 2 weeks.

Hi Maria. How does Parga compare with Stoupa?
Reply
Hi Pargaluvva, I visited both for a week and must say I enjoyed both resorts and though we usually visit different areas, I'd definitely return to either of them. I'd say Stoupa is the quieter of the 2. The nightlife in Stoupa centres around some good, traditional tavernas and a few low key bars. The resort mainly caters for couples and families with little to attract the livelier elements. When we were there we noticed mainly English tourists. Parga has a more lively (but certainly not rowdy) feel round the harbour area, though we stayed at the quieter Valtos beach side. I'd say there was a more cosmopoiltan feel to the place both in terms of the nationality of tourists and the menus in the tavernas. We hired a car in each resort and found plenty of places to visit for day trips.

Hope you enjoy your trip, let us know how you go on.

Hi Maria. Me my friend and our sons visited Stoupa about 5 years ago. It was August and the weather was steaming hot. I've been to Greece loads of times in August but I think that was the hottest weather I've experienced. We didn't have air conditioning in our accommodation so we used to have a cold shower before we went the beach in the morning, have lunch in a taverna, then back to the beach and stay there until about 8 pm, then straight out for the evening. Shower when we got back to the accommodation :haha. Looking forward to going back with my hubby and son.

Hi

Just returned from Parga. Brilliant holiday. Just wanted to say thank you for the replies I received when I asked about the snake situation. You were all right, didn't see one during the whole week, even when we went to Ali Pasha's castle where it was very very hot, not a sign of them. So thanks once again.
