Just posted on another thread, very good
Just read the mostly positive posts in this Parga thread. We are a couple (no kids!) off to Parga for the first time on the 15th Oct with First Choice Holidays, 7 nights SC at the http://www.adamshotel.com/ for £356!
Would welcome any advice on places to visit, trips, eateries (we love eating out in Greece just about every night of our hols), etc.
Transport wise I've read taxis are cheap for getting back up to your hotels. Anyone stopped at the Adam's? What's it like? How close is it to town or Supermarkets? I've read it's better to walk into town and get a taxi back with your groceries. I'm sure I read somewhere there was a supermarket within 500m of Hotel though.
We are not beach bunnies, but prefer exploring the history and attractions of places we visit. Also how about car or moped hire? We've never managed it on other hols' for fear of driving on the "wrong side of the road", Greek drivers, unknown roads, etc. The closest we've got is pushbike hire on one of the Islands we usually visit! This is our first trip to the mainland. How far away is Athens and are there any "daytrips"?
Also, weather looks to be a bit hit and miss coming up, not that we will be bothered by a bit of rain as we are not great sun-lovers, which is why we usually holiday early (May) and late in season (October). Is there enough to do if the weather's not too good?
Sorry for the many questions, but I always like to do my research before I get to a location so that I am well prepared for any surprises!
Trips... try the Marco Polo to Paxos & anti Paxos (another friend Billy runs the boat)... great trip. Also take a trip to the River Styx and the Necromanteon. Locally the land train up to Ali Pasha's castle is another good little local "trundle" and the views from the top are magnificent!
Car hire see Paul Dovey at Europcar for the best rates, or Elias Bakos at Parga Holidays is another good contact.
Athens is a long way away from Parga and you would need more than a day to visit.
Do visit http://www.parga.com too for further recommendations. The guest book will give many good and varied opinions too!
Hope this helps a bit.... enjoy the trip
Hi all, thinking of going to parga next year for a week and then onto lefkas for the second week .Has anyone stayed at the Utopia Studios or the koralli pension in parga what were they like and are they far out or in the right place .We have never been to greece before ,and have picked these two places for or first try .Thanks
http://www.parga.com. The guest book there will give you most of the answers you want I think
As I have said in previous posts... for the info you need on Parga take a look at for the info you need on Parga take a look at ww.parga.com. The guest book there will give you most of the answers you want I think
Once upon a time I would have agreed with you Kelvin, but I unfortunately now feel that website has been turned in to nothing more than a chat room by a few members, and you don't always get the good advice that used to be available on there anymore
annemac101, both the Utopia Studios and the Koralli Pension are in a fantastic location right on Krioneri beach near the Villa Rossa and only a couple of minutes from the harbour, very handy for everything in Parga.
No matter where you go to in Parga I am sure you will love it, Parga is a fantastic resort with something for everybody but still managing to maintain a genuine Greek feel to it.
As I have said before I have been to several Greek resorts but Parga is special and by far our favourite Greek destination (so far)

I would agree Graham, to a certain extent of late, there has been a bit of a"chat room" element about it... but generally if questions are asked, and opinions sought, then most people will get an honest answer I am sure that normal service will soon be resumed.
Thanks Graham for your help I did go to parga .com before posting here and found it just people chatting but after Kevins advice I went back and left a question. It seems like we have chosen a good place to go on holiday and can't wait.Maybe if Kevin doesn't want to answer my question here he will do it on parga .com
Seriously he has superb knowledge of Parga and surrounding areas and is always able to give some advice.
When are you going to go
Hoping to go in either july or august I suppose both months are equally busy?We usualy go to turkey and love Kalkan but photos I've seen of parga look very much like kalkan its what attracted me to it.Thinking of doing it as a twin centre with lefkas as I've heard it is a lovely place to visit as well.
Yes as Graham says I'd be very happy to answer any questions you might have, either here or on parga.com or if you would like to mail me personally my e mail address is on the Parga.com site "Getting married in Parga" page. If there is anything I can possibly help with re locations, Bars, Tavernas, trips and contacts I will be more than pkeased to pass on anything I know. Having been going for 24 years I think I have a little local knowledge, and I also have some very good local friends there who I can get the info from if there is something I can't answer.
So fire away any way you like
All the best.. Kelvin
Just spotted your question about Adams Apartments. We stayed there in August 2004. my review is on http://www.holidays-uncovered.co.uk. we would definitely go there again but it is about a 20 minute walk uphill from the beach and shops. There is a back way which saves you having to walk up the main road where there is no footpath. There is a petrol station about half way up the hill where you can buy the basics. We usually did our shopping after having our meal in the evening. When you are ready to go back up it was only €3 for a taxi. Adam will take you to different beaches each day in his car if you like. He has a schedule up on the wall. We had a super apartment with air-con and a big bed but another reviewer was not so pleased with his. We booked less than a week before travelling.
Didn't do any travelling about as we were on a tight budget but I would like to think we will return and do that.
Hope this helps.

If you don't feel like the walk into town, the food in the restaurant is very good. Gx
Hope 2007 is good for all of you
I have been looking into having a week in Parga in the middle of May, i haven't been before but everything i have read makes it sound just what I am after.
Just wondered if anyone had been in May and what the weather was like and if anyone has some recommendations of places to stay, that would be good too.
We are looking for a fairly relaxingbreak but a decent beach, nice bars and restaurants, hopefully all within walking distance.
Anyone help?
You may find all the formation you need is already answered in this current Parga thread

hi have just booked the magda 16th-30th september first time to Parga any info on the location would be great was a liitle concerned about the steep hill mentioned should i be going into training now!
I wouldn't worry too much about the hill. You will probably have some wonderful views. When we stayed in Parga we used to walk down then get our shopping (water etc) last thing, the supermarkets stay open really late and get a taxi. I think it was €2.
Enjoy your hols.
Yiamass, jean
Yes you do have a bit of a fairly steepish climb back up to Magda, I would say about 15 mins at a leisurely pace, but well worth it for the view over Parga.
This is a small section of the steps leading up from the harbour area, there are lots of small shops most of the way so this takes your mind of the climb

If it rains be careful if using the steps as they do get slippery.
As Greecelover mentions you can get a taxi at the OTE office crossroads back up and this will only cost a few Euros.
